Chapter 53 [VIP]
The moonlight spread softly across the floor like silver water. Only the small lamp on the desk was lit in the room. Lin Langli was very close to him when he said this.
A subtle, strange feeling welled up in Chenmian's heart, and she turned her head to look at the other person's well-defined and beautiful face.
How could you say such a thing to Lin Langli?
Chenmian felt a surge of anger at being offended and doubted, but then the young man's hand patted the back of his head and gently rubbed it.
Immediately afterwards, the young man's lips pressed against Chenmian's forehead, touching it tenderly, and he called Chenmian's name in a muffled voice.
The warmth was continuously transferred to him, and he felt the other person's affection for him, which caused the strange feeling in his heart to dissipate.
Lin Langli said those things only because he was worried about him...
The boy's fingers unconsciously gripped Lin Langli's clothes, then slipped inside to embrace the young man's lean waist, feeling the taut muscles pressed against him, exuding a heart-stopping power.
He should have pushed it away—it wasn't even late at night, his family wasn't asleep, and they could have been discovered at any moment.
But her body honestly indulged in this intimacy, even her breathing became synchronized with Lin Langli's, intertwining with him, sometimes shallow and sometimes deep.
Lin Langli's hand gently caressed his waistline, his fingertips calloused, the touch sending a shiver down his spine.
Chenmian let out a muffled groan as her chin was gently pinched, forcing her to lift her face and meet Lin Langli's deeper kiss.
The sound of the wind outside the window and the constant notifications from the online shopping agent on my phone became blurred background noise. Only the wet, intertwined sounds of lips and teeth were exceptionally clear in my ears.
In that moment of passion and infatuation, a very faint click of the door lock turned was heard, almost imperceptible amidst the sounds of their lips entwining.
What are you doing?
A voice rang out from behind, not loud, but like a thunderclap, suddenly shattering the enchanting atmosphere of the room.
The sleeping body stiffened instantly, as if the blood had frozen in an instant.
He could feel Lin Langli's arms around his waist tighten suddenly, with such force that they almost crushed him into his bones.
However, the expected separation did not come. Lin Langli's lips did not leave immediately, but the movement slowed down, still pressing tightly against his lips, lingering and caressing them, with an almost deliberate indulgence and delay.
It was as if... as if they had been waiting for this moment to break through.
Indeed, Lin Langli had already keenly noticed the commotion when Shen Ci opened the door.
Shen Ci stood at the door, his shadow stretched long against the light of the corridor, looming deep into the room.
As he watched the scene unfold before him, his blood rushed to his head, only to recede in an instant, leaving behind a bone-chilling cold.
A strong, uncontrollable metallic taste welled up in his throat, which he swallowed back forcefully. The veins on Shen Ci's arms bulged, and his heart was filled with a dull, suffocating pain.
Shen Ci felt a chill run through his body. He never imagined that he would witness this scene firsthand.
His first reaction wasn't to rush up and tear them apart, but rather, with an almost self-destructive calmness, he asked that question first.
Feeling embarrassed, Chenmian turned her head away and snuggled into Lin Langli's arms. The young man, however, took the opportunity to sit up with the person in his arms, looking at him with a smile: "Didn't you see it?"
Shen Ci saw the smugness and mockery in Lin Langli's eyes and could no longer bear it. He rushed over and grabbed Lin Langli's collar, intending to pull the two apart.
The almost violent force made Lin Langli stagger two steps. He was about to lash out when he saw Shen Ci pull Chen Mian away from his arms, his fingers gripping Chen Mian's wrist tightly, his eyes blazing with murderous intent: "Chen Mian! Are you crazy? Have you forgotten how he treated you before?"
His wrist throbbed with pain from being squeezed, but he dared not pull away. He looked at Shen Ci's red-rimmed eyes, at the other's taut jawline clenched with anger, his heart a jumble of emotions, his lips trembling as he stammered, unable to utter a word: "I...we..."
“We’re together now,” Lin Langli suddenly said, his voice calm to the point of being almost indifferent.
He slowly dusted off his rumpled shirt, his gaze sweeping over the seemingly crazed Shen Ci, his expression filled with undisguised contempt and provocation: "Shen Ci, you've come at the perfect time, saving us the trouble of telling you separately."
"Shut the fuck up!" Shen Ci turned around abruptly, all his reason completely collapsing at that moment.
He roared, and his fist, which had gathered all his strength, whistled through the air as he swung it fiercely at Lin Langli's face, which he now found utterly repulsive.
Lin Langli was prepared and dodged to the side, grabbing Shen Ci's wrist with his other hand. The two were evenly matched, the veins on their arms bulging, their heavy breathing hitting each other's faces. The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder, ready to explode at any moment.
"Don't fight!!" Chen Mian was terrified and lunged forward to pull Lin Langli's arm away. But Lin Langli grabbed her and easily pulled the boy back into his arms.
She slumped into his arms, her back pressed tightly against the warm chest behind her. He could even clearly feel the steady, powerful beating of the heart beneath that chest, a stark contrast to his own frantic heartbeat at that moment.
Shen Ci's anger flared even more intensely, his face turning ashen like that of a demon.
"Shen Ci, haven't you made enough of a scene?" Caught between the two men's raging anger, Shen Mian's voice was filled with panic.
But when he saw Shen Ci's eyes, which seemed to want to destroy everything, a strange courage surged up. He paused for a few seconds, his voice trembling, but revealing an unprecedented, almost cruel determination: "I, Lin Langli and I are already together. It was my own choice, and it has nothing to do with him."
Shen Ci's movements suddenly stopped, and the force he was using to wrestle with Lin Langli also loosened. He looked at Shen Mian in disbelief, as if he were seeing this person for the first time.
The person who used to run into his arms and complain whenever she was wronged, the person who liked to tell him everything, the person he had protected for more than ten years and cherished in his heart, has now actually stood on Lin Langli's side and told him personally that they were together voluntarily.
"You did it willingly?" Shen Ci's voice trembled uncontrollably, each word seemingly squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a pain that Shen Mian couldn't fathom. "Have you forgotten how much you hate him? Have you forgotten how cunning he is? Shen Mian, have you been deceived by him?"
"I'm not lying!" Chen Mian retorted stubbornly, but tears fell uncontrollably, landing on the man's arm that was holding him, making Lin Langli's heart burn slightly.
Chenmian continued softly, "Those things are in the past. He treats me very well now... better than you."
The last sentence was like a knife, piercing Shen Ci's heart with pinpoint accuracy.
Shen Ci gasped for breath, feeling a stinging sensation in his eyes. He even felt an urge to cry.
Shenmian and Lin Langli are together, they're together...
The words echoed in his mind. He carefully recalled the suspicious scenes from the past, only to discover that Lin Langli had shown ill intentions towards Shen Mian a long, long time ago.
But at that time, he was only focused on examining his feelings for Shen Mian, fearing that his feelings for Shen Mian had changed, and was completely unaware of it.
He felt an overwhelming anger and pain because Shen Mian loved Shen Jinshan, but this was far less than the heartache he felt when he saw Shen Mian in Lin Langli's arms and heard the two of them together.
He had long since lost his slumber; he realized it too late!
Shen Ci stared at Shen Mian's red and swollen eyes and nose, and felt a pang of heartache.
He looked again at the person protected by the slumbering figure and saw the faint, mocking smile on Lin Langli's lips, as if he were a victor. Suddenly, he felt all his strength drain away, and a deep, bone-chilling exhaustion and coldness swept over him.
Suddenly shaking off Lin Langli's hand, Shen Ci took two steps back, his gaze sweeping over the mess on the ground left by the two of them fighting, and then landing on Shen Mian's intimate embrace with Lin Langli. The last bit of warmth in his eyes vanished.
"Fine, very well." Shen Ci chuckled softly, his voice full of self-mockery. "It's none of my business if you two are together. From now on, I will never ask you another question about your affairs."
She likes Shen Jinshan and is with Lin Langli, so why isn't it his turn? Shen Ci didn't dare to think too deeply. Feeling utterly embarrassed, she turned around resolutely, each step heavy with emotion.
He slammed the door shut with a loud crash, which shook the picture frames on the wall violently, as if the wall itself was trembling.
The room fell silent instantly, save for the muffled, suppressed sobs of a sleeper.
Shen Ci left.
The young man released the hem of Lin Langli's clothes that he had unconsciously been gripping tightly before, his fingers curling up, his eyes filled with anxiety: "Will Shen Ci... never talk to me again?"
He recalled how, when he was a child, older students cornered him against the wall, jokingly asking him to be their boyfriend, and it was Shen Ci who stood up for him, clenching his fists.
I remember when he skipped class to go to a concert in high school, it was Shen Ci who kept it a secret from his parents and even helped him finish his missed homework;
He remembered when Lin Langli first came back, he hid in Shen Ci's arms and cried. It was Shen Ci who promised him that he would take care of him.
The protection and favoritism he had taken for granted flooded his mind like a tidal wave, each image like a fine needle pricking his heart with a dense, persistent pain.
As she slept, her tears fell even more fiercely, filled with regret and fear.
Was he going too far? Will Shen Ci really never talk to him again?
Lin Langli chuckled softly at that moment and reached out to wipe away his tears.
The young man's warm fingertips brought a strange sense of comfort as they brushed against my skin.
He leaned down, his forehead touching the slumbering bangs, his voice filled with barely suppressed pleasure: "It's better to ignore it."
Chenmian froze, looked up at him with teary eyes, and asked blankly, "What did you say?"
“I said, it would be better if Shen Ci ignored you.” Lin Langli’s tiger’s mouth was on his chin, his thumb forcefully, almost grinding, rubbing the boy’s red and wet eyes.
Lin Langli's eyes blazed with a burning possessiveness: "I've had enough—enough to only be able to get close to you when he's not around, enough to have to hide from everyone, enough to watch you act cute with him."
His voice lowered, carrying a hint of barely perceptible, long-suppressed grievance, but more than that, it conveyed a sense of exhilarating satisfaction at achieving his goal:
"Now it's great, he knows, and you said it yourself that we're together. From now on, you don't have to sneak around afraid of being found out, and I don't have to hold back from touching you anymore."
My dormant heart felt suspended in mid-air, swaying aimlessly, with nowhere to land. A chill crept up my spine, and instead of calming my unease, it intensified.
He subconsciously raised his hand, wanting to push Lin Langli away a little to get some breathing space, his voice soft and weak: "But, Shen Ci is my younger brother... If we do this, won't he tell Mom and Dad?"
"What if I tell you?" Lin Langli grabbed the boy's waist, pulling him even closer until their breaths almost mingled.
“We live together, so now we’re just in a different relationship. Besides,” he paused, his eyes becoming very serious, “as long as you don’t regret it, I have a way to get them to accept it.”
My dormant heart skipped a beat.
He looked into Lin Langli's eyes, those eyes that had previously been cold and then always smiling at him, now filled with an obsession and burning intensity he had never seen before, as if they were devouring him whole, wanting to suck him in.
"I……"
Chenmian wanted to say "I'm scared," "Are we moving too fast?", "Chen Ci, he...", countless chaotic thoughts clashed in her mind.
But as the words reached his lips, he recalled Shen Jinshan's arrogant attitude when he took it upon himself to make decisions for him, the decisiveness with which Shen Ci had abandoned him and handed him over to Lin Langli, and the hand that Lin Langli had reached out to him when he was at his most vulnerable.
These complex and contradictory emotions intertwined, twisting into a chaotic jumble of thoughts.
All hesitation, fear, and guilt towards Shen Ci were shattered in this thought.
When the words finally came out, Chenmian only gave a soft "hmm".
