winter

winter

Sang Jiyue and Sheng Xingzhou were pretty lucky. Just as they decided on a place to stay, the weather, which had been sunny for a few days, suddenly turned cold again, and a bigger snowstorm heralded the beginning of midwinter.

However, the wind and snow could not blow into this sturdy farmyard, and Sang Jiyue temporarily put the blizzard outside behind her mind. She directed Sheng Xingzhou to clean the room, and then she had the rare leisure time to start decorating the bedroom where she would live for a long time.

The courtyard was in good condition. Except for the second bedroom which needed repair, the other buildings were in good condition. Considering that Sheng Xingzhou only had a separate bedroom, it wouldn't be a big problem. Sang Jiyue didn't bother with the dilapidated second bedroom. It didn't matter whether he stayed in her room or the living room.

In a flash, half a month passed and the courtyard looked brand new. That morning, Sheng Xingzhou took a broom as usual and slowly swept the snow from last night in the yard.

Sang Jiyue peeked out of the bedroom window, a straw between her lips. In her hand, she clutched a glass bottle of milk, which was still a little empty. The bottle was still warm, warming her originally cold fingertips.

The snow outside had become lighter, but the wind was still very strong, blowing on Sang Jiyue's face, bringing a chill. However, the room was warm, so she didn't feel too uncomfortable.

Sang Jiyue's gaze followed the direction of the wind and fell on Sheng Xingzhou in the yard.

He was still quietly sweeping the snow, his skin was pale and there was no warmth in his body. The snow that fell on him accumulated and did not melt, turning him into a snowman again.

"Sheng Xingzhou."

Hearing the voice, Sheng Xingzhou slowly looked over, his expression still calm.

Sang Jiyue sat on the high window, her feet in thick boots dangling in the air. She said, "Please build me a snowman."

Sang Jiyue was talking, as if asking him to do something again, but he couldn't understand the new instructions.

"I'll teach you." Sang Jiyue said, looking down at the ground which was still some distance away from her, as if she wanted to jump down directly.

Sheng Xingzhou stared at her movements and was able to judge what she was going to do next from the trajectory of her limbs, but his mind was working, but his stiff body was not.

When he raised his foot and stretched out his hand to catch her, she had already jumped down from the high windowsill cleanly and neatly, making the snow crunch under her feet, and stood in front of him.

Sang Jiyue was dressed warmly, even wearing furry gloves. She was breathing out cold air as she spoke: "Quick, sweep all the snow together first. I want to build a super big snowman."

Taking advantage of the fact that the snow is a little lighter today, Sang Jiyue doesn't plan to stay in the greenhouse all day. It's good for her health to come out and enjoy the cool breeze occasionally.

After hearing this, Sheng Xingzhou began to sweep the snow slowly again.

There was a broom next to it, but Sang Jiyue had no intention of touching it. She walked in front of Sheng Xingzhou and directed him, emphasizing the sense of participation.

Sang Jiyue walked here, kicked there, and when she was tired of playing, she ran back to talk to him: "Sheng Xingzhou, is this the life you want now?"

Ever since they separated from Yin Qiao and Sang Huai, Sang Jiyue and Sheng Xingzhou's life has been very peaceful. Their lives have not changed even after moving from the city to the countryside.

Sang Jiyue actually felt pretty good. Without Sang Huai by her side for the time being, she seemed to have broken out of the vicious circle of the past and was very happy every day.

But is Sheng Xingzhou happy?

Would he still have such rich emotions now?

Sheng Xingzhou stared at the snow under Sang Jiyue's feet. He wanted to sweep it away, but she was in his way.

Sang Jiyue curled her lips and said, "Although I never imagined this kind of life, I'm very happy. I didn't listen to my mother this time, and it seems I didn't make the wrong choice."

"It turns out you don't have to listen to mom in everything..."

She muttered a few words, as if she felt that what she said was not very good, and then asked Sheng Xingzhou for advice: "Do you think my mother will blame me?"

She shouldn't be living happily here at this time.

Sang Jiyue hadn't expected Sheng Xingzhou to respond to her, but Sheng Xingzhou suddenly reached out his hand towards her.

She was stunned for a moment and looked at him blankly.

What would Sheng Xingzhou do to answer her?

Sheng Xingzhou gently pulled Sang Jiyue aside and smoothed the snow blanket under her feet.

"You are really annoying, Sheng Xingzhou." Sang Jiyue was a little annoyed and kicked away the loose snow pile.

Sheng Xingzhou stared at the pile of snow, mechanically stretched out his hand, and swept the scattered snow together.

Sang Jiyue was so angry that as soon as he swept the snow together, she kicked it apart.

Sheng Xingzhou continued to sweep calmly.

After repeating this several times, Sang Jiyue was sweating all over and went under the eaves to rest, breathing slightly.

She propped up her chin, looked up at the white sky in the distance, and her thoughts began to wander again: "Sheng Xingzhou."

He heard the voice and looked over.

"Do you know what I was doing at this time in my previous life?"

Sheng Xingzhou glanced at the snow that had been swept, slowly walked to Sang Jiyue's side, and waited for her next instruction.

The girl's soft voice rang in my ears: "Because it was too cold, I fell ill. If Qiao Qiao hadn't insisted on taking me with him, I would have frozen to death."

She took off her gloves, raised her hand, and caught a snowflake.

The snowflake melted in her palm, leaving a wet trail.

"But why do I feel like—" She grinned happily: "It's not that cold now."

Sheng Xingzhou squatted down in front of her and looked at her calmly. Under her gaze, he reached out and wrapped her soft and cold hand in his palm.

The heat continued to come, completely dispelling the cold.

Sang Jiyue squinted her eyes and smiled for a long time, then hugged him, stood up, and said, "Let's build a snowman."

Come and have fun.

The blizzard could not stop the migration of the zombie horde. While the Yancheng survivor base was still struggling with the cold wave disaster caused by the blizzard, the zombies were constantly approaching the base.

Awakening along with this crisis are animals that evolved in the blizzard, called alien beasts. They are larger and more powerful than before, rushing around with the intention of destroying everything.

It has been a long and difficult winter.

Although the survivor base was discovered in time, the fall was already irreversible. The last wave of survivors were escorted out of the survivor base by the military, which also indicated that Yancheng had completely fallen.

In the vast territory of the apocalypse, another city belonging to zombies has been added.

Next, in Yancheng, there were more fights between zombies and strange beasts.

However, all this had nothing to do with Sang Jiyue and Sheng Xingzhou for the time being. They lived in the countryside, temporarily isolated from the world. But life was not carefree, and Sang Jiyue had been feeling a bit distressed recently.

Because her little servant seemed to have some problems with his appetite recently, when the blood bag was placed in front of him, he just raised his eyelids and did not move.

The zombies who didn't eat were visibly losing weight.

Sang Jiyue thought there was something wrong with the food, but she tasted it for him and found that there was nothing wrong with the taste and it was well preserved.

Why did he refuse to eat?

Sang Jiyue couldn't figure it out, so she cut her finger, preparing to seduce him with fresh blood.

Sheng Xingzhou on the side suddenly looked at her.

Sang Jiyue shook her finger at him and asked, "Do you want to eat? If you do, come over here."

When she came over, she put the bag of blood into his mouth.

Sheng Xingzhou stared at the slender finger, on which a drop of bright red blood was oozing, which was very eye-catching.

But he still stood there without moving.

Sang Jiyue was even more surprised. She ran to Sheng Xingzhou in two or three steps, looked up at him, and muttered, "Did you remember something and feel sick about eating?"

Sheng Xingzhou looked at her expressionlessly.

Sang Jiyue raised his fingers, his arms were stiff, but he still didn't move.

"But we can't do this without eating." Sang Jiyue said seriously.

She stood on tiptoe and brushed her fingertips across his cold lips. The blood spread out, leaving a bright red color on his lips.

His pupils seemed to tremble.

The next moment, almost uncontrollably, he licked the few drops of blood from his lips.

Seeing him finally eat, Sang Jiyue breathed a sigh of relief. While trying to squeeze out a few more drops of blood from the wound, she said proudly, "So you're picky about food. I'm still the most delicious, right?"

But before her fingertips touched the wound, Sheng Xingzhou suddenly reached out and held her hand.

Sang Jiyue tilted her head: "Huh? What are you doing?"

Sheng Xingzhou's movements were still very stiff. He took her to sit on the sofa, then took out a Band-Aid from the medicine box and carefully bandaged the wound on her fingertip.

"You really seem to be getting smarter." Sang Jiyue moved her fingertips, then patted his head as a reward, and said with a smile: "You are getting better, right?"

His expression did not fluctuate again, and he continued to look at her expressionlessly, his eyes covered with a layer of white film and without any spirit.

Naturally, there was no response to Sang Jiyue.

Sang Jiyue felt a little lost.

"Oh, Sheng Xingzhou." She remembered something and her spirits immediately soared. "Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. I want to have a big meal. Let's go out and find some ingredients today."

The snow outside has stopped for several days and the temperature is slowly rising, which means winter is about to pass.

This means that strange beasts have also appeared.

Since Sheng Xingzhou is not very willing to suck blood, it is not impossible for him to change his diet now. If he does not improve his diet, what if one day he even refuses to drink her blood? Then he will just become thinner and thinner.

The more Sang Jiyue thought about it, the more worried she became. She complained to Sheng Xingzhou again, "Why are you so picky about food now that you've become a zombie? Can you learn from your teacher? I'm not picky about food. Even as a zombie, I'll eat whatever I see!"

Sheng Xingzhou: “…”

Today's itinerary has been confirmed. After Sang Jiyue got dressed, she did not forget to put a warm scarf on Sheng Xingzhou as well, although he would not feel cold either.

The two went out hand in hand.

It’s a sunny day today and the snow outside has melted a lot, but it’s still a vast expanse of white wherever you look.

When Sang Jiyue was directing Sheng Xingzhou to break the ice on the river, an uninvited guest came into view.
