Chapter 64 New Clothes
Tomorrow is the second day of the Chinese New Year, and they have to go back to their parents' home. Grandma and Li Hongying have already prepared things and dry food for them, so they can take them away as soon as they get up.
Miao Ying was familiar with the route back to her mother's house. With Huo Xing's things in her hands, Miao Ying's steps became lighter. "I still haven't found a chance to talk to Fu Lingzhi about doing business."
"Don't worry." Huo Xing said, "I'll start making what you want when I get back."
During this time, Huo Xing was also studying the thing that Miao Ying wanted, and he already had a rough outline in his mind. The only thing left was to put it into practice.
"Well, our family's future livelihood depends entirely on you." Miao Ying smiled.
They arrived at Miao's house around noon. To Miao Ying's surprise, Miao Dong and Zheng Caier did not come back.
Miao Ying looked at Liu Qiong, and Liu Qiong said, "Cai'er is not related to that family, and there is no one left at her home."
"That's fine. I'm at home." Miao Ying walked into the yard and saw several racks of sausages drying in the sun. "Did you make this?"
Zheng Cai'er nodded, a little embarrassed. "Yes, I made some according to your instructions. Then I sold them at a restaurant in the county town. I got a good price."
"That's great, but we won't be able to do it again after a while, or the meat will go bad." Miao Ying was also very happy when he learned that they made money.
Zheng Caier cooked at noon. Liu Qiong said that Miao Ying didn't like fatty meat, so the dishes at noon were all made with lean meat.
Meatball soup, boiled sausages, and stir-fried vegetables make this a very homely meal.
Miao Ying looked at Miao Dong who was sitting opposite him. He had lost some weight, his facial features were no longer crowded together, and he no longer breathed heavily when he moved.
Seeing Miao Ying looking at Miao Dong, Zheng Caier smiled again: "I heard from the doctor that being too fat is not good, and my husband has been trying to control his weight recently."
Miao Dahai also said: "Just practice like Huo Xing!"
Miao Dong glared at Miao Ying and didn't want to pay any attention to them.
At the dinner table, Miao Ying asked about the details of their business. Miao Dong paused and said, "Your sister-in-law went to negotiate it herself."
After he said he wanted to do this, Miao Dong brought it up to his family the next day and wanted to try it. Miao Dahai and Liu Qiong didn't object, but Zheng Caier was embarrassed and said she would use the money she had left with Liu Qiong. The answer she got was the same as Miao Dong's, they were all family, so there was no need to distinguish between you and me and his.
Finally, she managed to make the sausages with some difficulty and hung them up to dry in the sun. They were ready after they became wrinkled.
They tried it at home and found that it tasted very good, even more flavorful than the bacon they pickled.
Afterwards, Miao Dong took Zheng Caier to the county town. He originally wanted to go and talk to the restaurant owner about the business himself, but Zheng Caier unexpectedly took his hand and said that she wanted to try it herself.
Miao Dong nodded and let her go, but he didn't stay too far away from her, just watching from a distance.
In the end, Zheng Caier sold all the things she brought with her. When she went out on the street again, she was seen by the restaurant owner, who asked her if she still had the things she sold last time.
Miao Ying said, "This can only be made in winter. When the weather gets warm, the meat won't dry out and will become rancid."
Zheng Caier nodded: "I understand. Let's do it next winter."
"You can prepare the casings first," Miao Ying added. "After processing, just dry them in the sun. When the New Year is almost here, you can just soak them in water."
After dinner, Liu Qiong washed the dishes. Zheng Caier took Miao Ying to her room and took out a piece of clothing from the closet: "I made this for you."
Miao Ying took the clothes and was a little shocked: "What clothes did you make for me?"
"If it weren't for you, our family wouldn't have made so much money for the New Year," Zheng Cai'er said. "I asked Mom if I should give you some money, but she said you wouldn't accept it. So I thought I had to give you something, and that's how I made this dress."
The embroidery on this dress is very good, and there are many embroidered patterns on it. It can be seen that it was made with great care. The color of the material for the dress is also very well chosen, it is moon white.
Zheng Caier continued, "Mother said you like to wear light-colored clothes, so I made it in this color. You asked for the size. If it doesn't fit, you have to alter it yourself."
Miao Ying had originally thought that he would have one more piece of clothing this year, but he didn't expect that when he went back to his mother's house, he would get a surprise: he had one more piece of clothing.
"Thank you, sister-in-law!" After all, no one doesn't like new clothes.
Zheng Caier pursed her lips and smiled: "You're welcome. I used the remaining material to make a tunic for my mother, and I made one for myself too."
Miao Ying nodded: "That's great, don't treat yourself badly, your parents and brother are all very good people."
Zheng Caier nodded. She was extremely grateful for her courage at that time, which led to her current life.
As usual, they stayed at her mother's house for one night. The three men drank some wine and were eventually helped back to their rooms drunk.
Huo Xing knew that Miao Ying liked to be clean, so after drinking, he washed up thoroughly before going to bed.
Miao Ying watched him take off his clothes and felt a little eager to do it, but she was worried that they were at her mother's house, so she finally restrained herself.
Huo Xing drank some wine and his eyes were a little red. He naturally did not miss Miao Ying's expression. Without Miao Ying's consent, he covered his lips and bit his tongue.
Huo Xing's breath was very hot, and Miao Ying seemed to be drunk by the alcohol he had drunk. The hand that was originally against his chest moved down, but Huo Xing lifted his hands up and pressed them on top of his head.
"What are you doing?" Miao Ying's breathing was also unstable, and he felt a little uncomfortable.
Huo Xing kissed his earlobe and said, "No."
Miao Ying frowned, a little annoyed: "If you're not doing it, then what are you doing now?"
"Help you." Huo Xing kissed from his ear to his neck, and then slowly moved down.
Miao Ying naturally couldn't refuse this kind of happiness. His eyes were a little dazed, but he could still pull Huo Xing's hair to control his strength.
When the clouds stopped and the rain dispersed, Miao Ying tilted his head back and panted, with a thin layer of sweat on his neck. He watched Huo Xing raise his head, his Adam's apple rolled, and then he leaned over and kissed him.
Miao Ying turned her head away to prevent him from kissing her. Finally, Huo Xing laughed, and his chest trembled with laughter. Miao Ying felt a little embarrassed and annoyed, so she punched his chest with her fist. Huo Xing held his hand and placed it on his chest: "Go to sleep."
Miao Ying was indeed tired, so he leaned on Huo Xing's chest and fell into a deep sleep.
They had to go home early the next morning, and Miao Dahai wanted to give him meat as usual, but Miao Ying refused. Finally, he couldn't stand up to them, so he asked for some bare bones. After all, there were two children at home, so it was always a good idea to drink more bone soup.
What he originally wanted were some tube bones and fan bones, but Miao Dahai only packed some spine bones with meat on them.
Miao Ying sighed and could only let Huo Xing put it away.
In the end, it was Liu Qiong who sent them to the village entrance. Seeing Liu Qiong taking out her purse, Miao Ying quickly pulled Huo Xing away, fearing that she would give him more money. Although he always said that he would go back to his parents' home to borrow money, he was actually still unwilling to borrow money from them. After all, life is not easy for anyone, not to mention that Miao Dong is married now, and he always has to consider his sister-in-law's thoughts.
The days in the first month of the lunar year are leisurely and comfortable. There is not much work to do in the fields, and people gather together to play cards and chat.
Huo Xing went up the mountain again, ready to look for something suitable for making a wood press. Of course, this was also agreed with the village chief. Ordinary people would pay for cutting down trees, and the village chief would give the money to Master Song to buy some things for the school.
Huo Xing had already given enough this year, so the village chief did not ask for any more money. Huo Xing said that he wanted to cut down a big tree in the deep mountains, which was almost bigger than two people could hug together. No one could cut down such a tree. The village chief was curious about how he could transport the tree down, but he didn't expect that they didn't want to transport the tree down at all.
Huo Xing searched the mountain for a long time and finally found a tree that met the requirements for seedlings.
The next day, he took Miao Ying up the mountain to see them. When Miao Ying went up the mountain, he also brought steamed buns and corn bread. They grew up slowly, and their wildness as dogs gradually emerged. As soon as they got to the mountain, they started to have fun. Huo Xing simply untied the ropes for them and only took Miao Ying with him.
After arriving at the tree that Huo Xing had found, Miao Ying looked around the tree twice and found that he really didn't know what kind of tree it was, so he had to ask Huo Xing.
"This is red toon wood," Huo Xing said. "This tree is very hard and is usually used to make furniture."
"Then let's take this one," Miao Ying said. "How do we cut it down?"
"I'll do it." Huo Xing has been running in the mountains for so many years, and of course he can do more than just hunting.
This was something they had discussed before. The oil press could not be placed in the village. Although the villagers were very kind, they still wanted to be careful. For example, they wanted to place the oil press in a more secluded place.
The wooden house on the mountain is very flat, so Miao Ying prepared to press oil in the wooden house.
Huo Xing brought an axe with him and started chopping down the tree according to the method his master taught him. When the tree was about to fall, he asked Miao Ying to stay away from it, for fear that the tree would hit him when it fell.
When the big tree fell, Miao Ying's heart trembled. Huo Xing changed the saw and began to cut off the extra branches. These branches could be taken home to dry and use as firewood.
Miao Ying also had an axe in his hand and was helping to trim the branches, but his hands had never held such a heavy axe before, and his palms turned red in a short while.
A tree that takes two people to hug is very tall, so the sapling should take the thickest part. Huo Xing processed the rest and sawed it into small pieces, which he would chop into firewood later.
It took them the entire afternoon to deal with these details, and when it got dark, they returned to the cabin.
They brought a lot of things this time, including thick bedding, food, and some daily necessities. They would stay in the mountains for two more days.
Miao Ying was preparing food in the house, and Huo Xing went outside to collect firewood. Miao Ying felt that now he had a sense of peace and tranquility.
Dinner was very simple, a pot of multi-grain porridge, some cakes made by my mother, and some bacon. The bacon was not cooked, but sliced into thin slices and roasted one by one by the stove. A lot of fat was roasted away, leaving a crispy, salty and fragrant taste, which was perfect for porridge.
The mountains were very quiet on winter nights, without even the chirping of insects. Miao Ying took advantage of the fact that there was no one on the mountain and acted somewhat recklessly.
Huo Xing really loved his frankness. Although he had never come into contact with other guys, he had heard a lot of dirty talk while working. He thought that guys were all reserved, introverted and shy, but Miao Ying was different.
He wanted to be in control of love affairs, and he would express himself actively, whether positive or negative. He would hum when he was comfortable and kick when he was uncomfortable. Huo Xing was willing to submit and give him everything he had.
