Chapter 173 Birthday 2

It had been a long time since Lan Xi last met Li Yulan, so long that she had forgotten the exact time. Now, nestled in the soft and fragrant quilt, she couldn't help but think of the past.

Lan Xi's peaceful and even somewhat happy mood was interrupted by her uncontrollable thoughts. The corners of her slightly upturned mouth drooped down, and she suddenly sat up from the bed, her chaotic mind instantly clearing up.

Bai Yun, who had been leaving, suddenly returned and saw Lan Xi sitting on the bed with a cold face. Her brows furrowed instantly: "What are you doing sitting here? Why aren't you sleeping yet?"

She held something similar to an aromatherapy device in her hand and placed it on the windowsill not far from Li Lanxi. The window was opened a little, and a breeze slipped in through the gap, and the fragrance spread instantly.

Even Lan Xi had never smelled such a smell. She looked towards the window and saw a small stove that looked like an incense burner.

But the incense ash inside is not ordinary incense ash, but prepared incense. It can be lit like a candle and covered. There is no smoke, but there is a faint fragrance.

Just as she opened her mouth to ask something, Bai Yun cut her off directly: "Don't ask, just try it and see if it works!"

Lan Xi shut up obediently, temporarily putting aside her thoughts, pulling the quilt to lie down again, turning her head to look in the direction of the incense burner covered by the curtains, staring silently...

Lan Xi slept very well that night. I don’t know if it was because of the quilt or the aromatherapy, but strangely enough, she didn’t even have any dreams.

When she opened her eyes, the pitch-black room filled her heart with fear. Memories of the past flooded her mind and tears flowed naturally. She curled up in the quilt, biting her lips tightly, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably.

The lights are out!

There are no gaps in the curtains for light to come through!

This was Lan Xi's usual habit, with the lights on and the curtains cracked to ensure there was light at all times. But now there was nothing...

The sound of nails scraping against walls and door panels began to appear in Lan Xi's ears. The sharp sound made Lan Xi's hair stand on end. The shaking of the quilt gradually became louder and louder, and even heavy breathing could be faintly heard.

After an unknown amount of time, Lan Xi opened her eyes dazedly and saw a little light from the gap in the quilt.

Such a faint and imperceptible light, but it shone into Lan Xi's world like a savior. She stretched out her hand in disbelief and saw the warm yellow light on the back of her hand.

Slowly and hesitantly, Lan Xi felt a heavy heartbeat. It was different from the rapid choking that was about to jump out of her throat, and different from the suffocation caused by fear. It was a trance, as if what had just happened was just her imagination.

Lan Xi poked her head out from under the quilt. The lamp on the bedside table was glowing. She sat up from the bed, quickly jumped off the bed, reached out to open the curtains, and the bright sunlight made her squint unconsciously.

But I couldn't help but open the window and reach out, feeling the heat brought by the sun and the hot air blowing on my face. It was... the feeling of being alive!

There was a knock on the door behind her. Lan Xi was so engrossed that she didn't say anything. Bai Yun opened the door without waiting for a reply.

"Why open the window? It's so hot, and the cool air will disappear if you open the window!"

Bai Yun's voice interrupted Lan Xi's thoughts. Without turning around, she said calmly, "It feels so real!"

The voice was low and faint, and by the time it reached Bai Yun, it was practically real. Seeing the room getting hot, she simply opened the door, walked in, and began to straighten the quilt: "Go wash up! Get ready for dinner!"

When she looked up after finishing her routine, she saw Lan Xi still staring out the window in fascination. This child has been increasingly daydreaming lately...

"What are you daydreaming about, kid? Go wash up quickly. I made some dumplings!" Bai Yun walked around the bed and behind Lan Xi, stretched out her hand and pulled her directly towards the bathroom.

Her eyes fell on her wrist, Lan Xi pursed her lips and followed her obediently.

After washing up, the living room was filled with fragrance. Bai Yun made crab meat buns and vegetarian buns. As the weather was too hot, she prepared some cold dishes.

Bai Xingtang sat in front of the table and looked at Lan Xi unhappily as she slowly swayed down. "Look at what time it is! My mom said you got up very early this morning!"

It’s not that he dislikes Lan Xi, it’s just too outrageous. She didn’t get up until ten o’clock and had breakfast as lunch!

Lan Xi glanced over, unable to discern any emotion, which made Bai Xingtang shut up: "I didn't ask you to wait for me, why don't you just eat first?"

"My mother won't let me eat if you don't come!" Bai Xingtang muttered softly. He didn't dare to offend the people on both sides. It was really annoying.

Sitting down opposite Bai Yun, Lan Xi sneered, picked up the bun with her chopsticks and threw it into his bowl: "That's because you're incompetent. Who can you blame if you can't eat it?"

The hot buns fell into the bowl, and Bai Xingtang grinned instantly. He quickly reached out to pick up the buns and took a bite. The buns that had been in the pot were so hot that he grimaced:

"Thank you, sister. It's delicious!"

"Eat slowly, no one is trying to snatch the food from you!" Bai Yun looked at her foodie son with disdain and scooped a bowl of porridge and placed it in front of him.

Such scenes still make Zhu Lingling envious. Her mother's release from prison was extended because she was suspected of instigating her father's affairs. She remembers that when she learned about this that day, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Lan Xi lowered her head and ate the buns as if she was used to it, without any special expression.

It seemed that from that day on, Lan Xi could start to sleep well one after another, and sometimes even sleep until dawn.

"When I just came in, I saw Yang Ning and Yang You standing at the door. No one paid any attention to them. It looked so awkward!"

The little Lolita recalled the scene she had just seen and spoke it out unconsciously. As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Qin Zhong desperately winking at her.
