See you again at the temple
Qin Yuyao looked at herself in the mirror, then stood up and prepared to go to breakfast. Old Madam Qin had asked her to go out to burn incense, saying that she wanted to invite a few of her close friends to meet her.
But as he walked past the desk, his gaze paused for a moment. He blinked, making sure he wasn't mistaken.
"Qingyu, why is there one less wooden sculpture on the table?" He pointed at the fallen wooden sculpture on the table and looked at the two people who seemed a little confused.
Jin Yu walked over to the desk and glanced at it, then hesitantly asked, "Miss, hasn't there always been only one wooden carving on this tabletop?"
Hearing this, Qingyu also echoed: "Miss, maybe you remembered it wrongly? I also remember it was just a wooden sculpture."
Qin Yuyao was helpless. She had carved the wood carving herself, so how could there be only one? And there just happened to be only one that looked like Luan Zhengya. After thinking for a moment, Qin Yuyao reached out and straightened the wood carving before slamming it down on the table.
It is better to lose both of them than to lose your own.
"Leave Qingyu here later and ask the people in the yard to look for it carefully. Maybe she was taken out accidentally, or was she forgotten where she put it after she wiped off the dust." Qin Yuyao didn't tell anyone about the wooden statue. If people knew that she had carved a wooden statue that looked like herself, she would probably be laughed at.
Now that summer had arrived, Qin Yuyao's clothes were mostly made of gauze, which would be a bit cumbersome for someone of petite stature. However, Qin Yuyao was not short, and her height was even taller than some teenagers.
Old Madam Qin watched Qin Yuyao walk towards her gracefully. From a distance, she looked like a painting. In the scorching summer, she was like a clear spring.
"Yuyao girl, I have never seen a child prettier than you." Old Madam Qin praised her generously. It was also a matter of great pride for her to bring her out to show her close friends.
Qin Yuyao took Old Madam Qin's hand and smiled as she leaned her face against her shoulder: "Grandma, Madam Liang said that I look like you when you were young. It seems that Grandma is the most beautiful."
Old Madam Qin was very happy to be coaxed, and she pulled her aside to explain in detail which Old Madam Qins she would meet when she burned incense later.
"Those are my close friends whom I met when I was young. You can talk to them if you have any problems later." Old Lady Qin said, patting the back of Qin Yuyao's hand.
The two men's carriage soon stopped at the foot of the mountain. The temple where they burned incense was on a small hill. Due to the hot summer weather, fewer people came.
Along the way, apart from the occasional tourists, no one else was seen. Qin Yuyao walked along the way, looking at the scenery, and her mood after losing the wood carving in the morning also improved.
Although Madam Qin was older, she was in excellent spirits throughout the journey. They soon arrived at the small temple, where officials and wealthy families often came to worship.
The young monk who was sweeping the floor quickly took the two of them to the side room in the backyard. When they entered, they heard the sound of many people laughing and talking.
After Qin Yuyao was brought in by Old Madam Qin, the scene became quiet in an instant.
"Old sister, this must be your eldest granddaughter. I remember she was still a little girl more than ten years ago. Now she has grown up to be so beautiful?" An old lady with a kind face spoke first.
Madam Qin was probably the most familiar with her. She smiled and said, "My granddaughter, Qin Rong, must have inherited my beauty, otherwise I wouldn't have become friends with her."
As she spoke, Old Lady Qin pulled Qin Yuyao over and pointed at the old ladies, saying, "The first one to speak was my old sister, Old Lady Zhang, who is also a relative of the Left Prime Minister's Mansion."
Then came Madam Liu from the Dali Temple and Madam Jiang from the Hanlin Academy. Each of them had a good relationship with Madam Qin when they were young, so they wanted to meet up for a chat.
Qin Yuyao smiled and stepped forward to greet each one: "Yuyao greets all the old ladies. I wish you all good health and a happy mood."
Madam Zhang laughed and said, "Ah, little girl, you are really good at talking. I feel relieved just listening to you talk."
After saying this, Madam Zhang pulled the old lady to sit down with her, intending to have some private conversation. Qin Yuyao nodded slightly, and seeing the old ladies looking at her with such kindness, her heart warmed slightly.
She simply asked the monk in the courtyard and went to the front to burn incense. There was a temple in Taoyuan Village, but it was dedicated to the God of Land. She used to go there often to worship the God of Land and make wishes for the purple-leaf plum trees to grow well, and even went there to pray for marriage.
Perhaps it was because the Earth God didn't care about fate that her wishes were unfulfilled. After dropping the copper coins she had prepared into the wooden box, Qin Yuyao stood up and tried to find a spot to take in the view.
But at the corner of the stone gate, someone suddenly reached out and grabbed her. Before Jin Yu could even scream, someone else covered her mouth. Looking up, she saw Jiang He holding up his index finger and making a "hush" sound.
She still remembered Jiang He, but she was unwilling to pay attention to him. She went straight to find her mistress, but she saw that she was still struggling. The next moment, she raised her hand and slapped her. In an instant, this small corner became quiet.
"Let go." Qin Yuyao said coldly, but her eyes did not look at the other person, but only looked elsewhere.
Luan Zhengya pressed the tip of her tongue against the face that had just been slapped, but she maintained a hint of a smile on her face: "I am sorry for being rude."
As he spoke, Luan Zhengya loosened her hand and looked at her with deep eyes. It had been over a month since they last saw each other, but meeting again was completely different from before.
Before, when she saw him, she would always approach him with a smile, or even trot over, calling him Master Luan or deliberately calling him Master, just to see his disapproving look.
"I haven't seen Mr. Luan for a few days. His behavior is completely different from what I said." Qin Yuyao still didn't even look at him.
In the past, this person always liked to say that men and women should be careful about their behavior when they are outside. If she goes out in the future, she should stay away from those men.
Although she had long suspected that she was angry, Luan Zhengya was still a little flustered and whispered, "It's not that I didn't want to tell you in advance, it was just that the matter was urgent, so I left a little faster."
Hearing this, Qin Yuyao looked up at him and said, "Mr. Luan, this is very strange. I have never met you before, so how can there be any previous events?"
These words were spoken in a very cold and harsh manner, and Luan Zhengya felt as if she had been slapped in the face again.
"Yuyao, I know you were just saying that in anger." Luan Zhengya took another half step forward, wanting to explain in detail.
But Qin Yuyao turned her head and said, "Jin Yu, come here."
Jin Yu pushed Jiang He away with great force and trotted forward, "Miss, let's go. The old lady and the other ladies must be getting impatient."
Qin Yuyao nodded, without even looking at the person behind her, and walked away holding Jin Yu's hand.
Jiang He was not far away, but he saw the slap clearly. He looked at his own prince with a stiff expression and whispered, "Your Highness, Madam Qin did have an appointment with several old ladies today, but it was just a meeting, not a marriage proposal."
Even though Miss Qin hasn't proposed marriage yet, there's still hope for the prince.
Luan Zhengya's eyes were dark and unclear. She stared at Qin Yuyao's gradually walking away, never moving her eyes away.
I knew she had a bad temper before, but she spoke so harshly today. I guess he must have hurt her feelings. But why didn't she listen to his explanation?
Maybe he's still sad? Luan Zhengya thought, then just try a few more times, there will always be a time when she's willing to sit down and have a good chat with him.
"Just wait. We'll leave after Yuyao comes back." After saying that, Luan Zhengya turned around and went back to the yard where he had just rested. He would not feel at ease until he saw Qin Yuyao really come back.
On the way back to the back room, Qin Yuyao's heart was pounding. In fact, she didn't expect that she would slap him the first time she saw him.
My emotions were surging just now, but when I saw his smiling face, I suddenly felt a surge of anger, and I attacked without thinking.
But now thinking about it, I still feel a little worried that I was too harsh, but looking back, I feel that it's okay. He was happy to leave, but now that he saw her, he wanted to explain a few words casually. Who did he take her for?
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. But seeing that he hadn't caught up with her, Qin Yuyao blinked, suppressing the grievance that had just surged up and the moisture in her eyes.
After putting on a composed expression, he saw Jin Yu nod. Then he walked in with a smile: "Grandma, I just went to burn incense in front, and I saw the beautiful scenery outside, so I was delayed for a while."
Upon hearing this, Madam Qin turned around and said, "I originally brought you here to relax, so it's okay for you to go outside and look around for a while."
In response, Qin Yuyao smiled and said nothing. She sat quietly next to the old ladies, listening to their idle chatter, while her thoughts gradually drifted away.
Suddenly, she heard several old ladies mention the Right Prime Minister's Mansion. Old Madam Zhang glanced at Qin Yuyao and said, "I heard a few days ago that a girl from the Prime Minister's Mansion was getting engaged to the Prince of Zhen'an's Mansion. I was originally thinking it might be the girl named Wenxin from your mansion, but now I think your Yuyao is the right age."
Mentioning Qin Yuyao's marriage, the old lady's expression faded: "I don't know about this, and my son didn't say anything. If it really happened, he should have told me about it after a while."
Several old ladies looked at each other and knew that she was dissatisfied with her son. She made the decision on her own without asking any questions.
After hearing about her own story, Qin Yuyao's expression became even calmer, as if the person she was talking about was not herself.
In a blink of an eye, Madam Qin finished chatting with the other old ladies. It was rare for them to come out today, but they all left in the afternoon.
Old Madam Qin took Qin Yuyao back to the Right Prime Minister's Mansion in a carriage. When the carriage was about to arrive at the gate of the Prime Minister's Mansion, Old Madam Qin whispered, "Yuyao, I know you are different from other girls. If you are unhappy, just go back by yourself. I'm here to support you."
Qin Yuyao felt a warmth in her heart when she understood what Old Madam Qin was thinking.
"Grandma, I know what you mean. Don't worry, this matter will at least have to wait until after your birthday banquet." I came here to visit my grandmother, so I put other things aside for the time being.
As for Luan Zhengya, although I don't know why he appeared in Shengjing after leaving without saying goodbye, and we met in this temple, maybe we will see each other again soon, or maybe the slap today will have nothing to do with it.
