Chapter 3 Weird Relatives, an Old Show
"No." Gu Xixi's voice was not loud, but she was not dragging her feet.
"What?" When Liu heard the negative answer, she was not angry, but laughed out loud, "Hey, you are still stupid, girl?"
"Now it's your uncle and I who care about you and are willing to help you farm the fields without fear of hardship."
"Without our help, you will starve to death next year. Hurry up and agree to it. This will all benefit you!"
Liu was so presumptuous because she never took Gu Xixi seriously.
An orphan without a father or a mother, who was spoiled by her father since childhood and has become lazy and ignorant.
She was born a country girl, but she thinks she is a rich girl from the city. Who in the village wouldn't laugh at her in private?
Liu chuckled a few more times and found that Gu Xixi was staring at her coldly with no smile on her face.
She felt that she was not interesting, so she stopped laughing and frowned, asking, "Why are you staring at me?"
Gu Xixi said in a deep voice, "I told you it's not possible, but you can't hear me, or you don't understand?!"
Liu opened her mouth in surprise.
Gu Xixi didn't have time to waste with her, and pointed to the front door, "I'm still busy. Auntie also knows that my family is short of food, so I can't keep you for dinner. Please go back if you have nothing else to do!"
Liu came back to her senses and her face flushed with anger, "You don't think you can talk to your elders like this just because you have a man backing you up!"
She took a few steps forward, tilting her neck and shouting loudly.
"Call him out! He must have instigated you to disrespect your family!"
"I bought this for a penny, and I told him to be treated like an animal or a farmhand. If he dares to say no, I'll go to the county government office and make a scene!"
Gu Xixi was about to retort when she suddenly discovered with distress that Liu's big foot had stepped on the sand pile!
Before Liu could take the second step, Xixi's body moved faster than her brain, and she used all her strength to push Liu out.
Liu staggered back a few steps and fell on her butt on the brick floor, grimacing in pain.
But Gu Xixi didn't care how badly Liu fell. She bent down to check what was in the sand.
Liu looked at Gu Xixi's back without even turning her head, and almost fell over in anger. She pointed at him and started to curse:
"You little bitch! It's only been a short time since your father died and you're already rebelling!"
"I'll go back and tell your uncle to tell the elders in the clan that not only did you attack me, your aunt, but you also helped that wild man to squander our Gu family's wealth!"
Just as Liu was spitting, a thick black and yellow rope flew over from somewhere.
Plop, it fell on her skirt.
In a rage, she grabbed it and was about to throw it away, but suddenly she felt the thing was wet, slippery and cold, and seemed to be moving.
Liu looked down and saw a pair of brown snake eyes staring at her. The snake's mouth opened and it hissed.
She was frozen, only her lips trembled and a gurgling sound came from deep in her throat.
Gu Xixi breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that the treasure she had buried was not damaged.
Only then did I realize that the noisy noise behind me had stopped at some point.
She turned around in confusion, just in time to see Liu rising from the ground like a firecracker.
"Snake! Snake! I was bitten by a snake!"
Gu Xixi calmly watched a snake fall to the ground and quickly crawl into the grass at the base of the wall.
At the same time, Liu ran out of the door holding her head, leaving behind ghosts howling all the way.
Gu Xixi shook her head. "It's just a yellow-banded snake. It only bites once. It won't be fatal."
When collecting in the wild, we always encounter various snakes and we are no longer surprised.
She walked toward the west room.
As expected, he saw Mu Nanzhao standing inside the door.
"You did it?"
Mu Nanzhao looked indifferent, "The snake entered the house and it just became an eyesore."
Xixi thought for a moment and said, "Don't worry about one thing. I am the only one in charge of my family. It has nothing to do with them."
"So they have no right to tell you what to do."
"Next time if someone gives you a hard time like this, you can continue to do the same to them, or even go even further."
Mu Nanzhao raised his eyes with a mocking look, "Can you lend me a hand to help you get rid of those nosy and greedy relatives?"
Gu Xixi smiled and looked at him, "It's up to you how you interpret it."
In the evening, at Gu Laosan’s house in the west of the village.
Liu lay straight on the kang, "Am I going to die?"
"I told you, if a man is too handsome, he must be a fox reincarnated, and he will attract evil spirits!"
"It's all your fault for letting me go alone. Ouch, it hurts. I'm dying..."
Gu Laosan picked up the white copper pipe and knocked it hard on the edge of the kang a few times. "It's been an afternoon, and you're still alive and well, aren't you?"
"If you hum again, I'll spank you!?"
Gu Qingye came in with some water and hurriedly advised, "Dad, don't be angry."
"Don't be afraid, mother. The dirty blood in the wound was squeezed out immediately."
"I heard someone say that if the wound doesn't turn black, it's not a poisonous snake bite."
When Liu heard this, she felt that apart from a little pain in her bitten wrist, she didn't seem to feel any other discomfort.
She felt as if she had taken a tranquilizer and immediately regained her spirits.
"His father, Gu Xixi is so disobedient, you have to vent your anger for me!"
"Especially those fields. We can't let that foreign exile get away with it!"
Gu Laosan smoked his cigarette with a gloomy face, "The wheat on the seven acres of land our family occupies is not yet ripe."
Gu Qingye covered her lips and chuckled, "Don't worry, Dad. Sister Xixi never cares about this. She doesn't know."
Gu Lao San shook his head and sighed, "I'm afraid that girl is not an easy person to deal with now."
Gu Qingye curled his lips in disdain, "So what if she knows."
"Although the land is hers, the wheat belongs to us. What can she do?"
Gu Lao San was silent for a moment before he said, "I'll go talk to some uncles and brothers tomorrow."
Liu suddenly recalled that when she stepped on the sand pile, Gu Xixi reacted strongly.
She told this story with a look of smugness and greed in her eyes, "When Xixi's father was alive, he always said that he didn't save any money, but I never believed it."
"Do you think his money and treasures are all buried under the sand?"
It was almost midnight and Gu Xixi's eyelids were so sleepy that she got up to wash.
The long table by the window in her bedroom was filled with bottles and jars.
Agricultural pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and seed-stimulating drugs...
They are all water-soluble solvents prepared with natural materials that I have collected myself.
The strength is far inferior to that of modern agricultural chemicals.
However, the drug resistance of pests and diseases in ancient times was low, and the actual effect of use was still good.
Xixi fell on the bed, thinking about her thirty-two acres of land, and fell asleep in the blink of an eye.
The clouds covered the moon, and two dark shadows climbed over the courtyard wall and ran towards the sand pile one after another.
But they didn't realize that in the darkness there were a pair of eyes as bright as an eagle, staring at them...
Early in the morning, Aunt Zhang rushed into Xixi's room, looked outside mysteriously, and closed the door.
"This morning, someone saw Gu Laosan and his wife tied up and hanging on the big locust tree at the entrance of the village."
"It looks like it was put up at night."
Gu Xixi glanced sideways, "Hanging on a tree?"
Aunt Zhang nodded. "Nothing serious happened, but what they said... is related to our family."
