Chapter 22 All she wanted was that piece of wasteland

"Whose daughter is that? She's so beautiful!"

"Her skin is so tender, you could practically squeeze water out of it!"

"That's right, look at those men, they act like they've never seen a woman before, like dogs seeing a bone..."

"Hahaha……"

The women sat together discussing what had just happened, each with a smile on their face, as if they had seen the most beautiful thing in the world.

However, at that moment, a figure suddenly rushed over, shattering the harmony and tranquility. It was Xiaoqing, her face contorted with rage, her eyes blazing with fury; jealousy had completely consumed her reason.

"Auntie, what are you saying? She's just a fool. She's the wife that Brother Xuan bought." Xiaoqing said viciously, her voice filled with resentment and bitterness.

Her words exploded in everyone's ears like thunder, leaving them all staring at her in astonishment.

Then, Xiaoqing continued to vent her dissatisfaction: "She's so vicious. When she has an attack, she not only beats her parents-in-law but also her sister-in-law. The day before yesterday, I only said two words to Xuan-gege and she beat me up. This woman is simply insane."

As she spoke, Xiaoqing pulled up her sleeve, revealing the scars on her arm to prove that what she said was true.

"Look, these are the marks she left on my body," she cried, tears welling in her eyes, looking incredibly aggrieved.

All eyes fell on Xiaoqing's wounds, and a flurry of discussion ensued. They had initially been very fond of the beautiful woman, but now they were shocked by Xiaoqing's words.

"What's the use of having a beautiful appearance? That just makes you a madman!" Xiaoqing said through gritted teeth, her tone full of contempt and disdain.

Upon hearing this, the women frowned, expressing sympathy for Xiaoqing's plight. They began to comfort Xiaoqing and condemn the "madwoman's" behavior.

So the women joined in the discussion, and they all started chatting excitedly.

Xiaoqing, with malicious intent, portrayed Luo Yunhe as an utterly wicked woman. She recounted Luo Yunhe's various misdeeds to the villagers, describing her as a wicked and despicable woman.

"Young lady, look, this is the village chief's house..."

The men's eyes seemed unwilling to leave her for even a moment, making Luo Yunhe feel awkward the entire way. She felt extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed, but still smiled politely and expressed her gratitude.

"Thank you, brothers! I'll go in first then. You can go do whatever you need to do!" Luo Yunhe tried to get away from their gazes and hoped to enter the village chief's house as soon as possible.

“Okay, okay…” the men responded one after another, but they remained standing still, their eyes still fixed on Luo Yunhe.

Seeing that they were still standing there dumbfounded, with no intention of leaving, Luo Yunhe sighed helplessly and went up to knock on the door.

"Who is it!" a woman's voice came from the courtyard. Then came the sound of footsteps, and the door slowly opened.

"Who are you looking for?" The village chief's wife looked at Luo Yunhe in front of her, somewhat puzzled.

When she noticed the group of men following behind her, she was even more puzzled. These men were all from the village, so why were they following this strange young girl?

Luo Yunhe smiled and replied, "I'm looking for the village chief. Is he home?" She maintained a polite smile.

"Yes, yes, you're all here to see my old man?"

When the men behind her heard what the village chief's wife said, they all shook their heads, with silly smiles on their faces.

Seeing them all like this, the village chief's wife knew exactly why these men were acting this way. She sighed helplessly and invited Luo Yunhe into the courtyard.

After entering, Luo Yunhe breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at the village chief's wife.

The village chief's wife also showed an awkward smile, and led her directly to the living room.

"Young lady, please have a seat. I'll get my old man out right away!"

Luo Yunhe nodded, her gaze slowly sweeping over her surroundings.

Upon entering, a spacious courtyard comes into view. Antique-style houses are scattered on both sides in a well-organized manner, appearing exceptionally elegant.

There's a living room in the very center, and from the outside, you can sense a rustic atmosphere. There also appears to be a courtyard at the back, covering a considerable area.

Not long after, an elderly man, who looked to be around sixty years old, strolled slowly into the living room. Upon seeing this, Luo Yunhe quickly stood up.

"Hello, village chief! My name is Luo Yunhe, and I am Su Jingxuan's wife!"

Upon hearing her self-introduction, the village chief raised an eyebrow slightly, his gaze unconsciously sweeping over her.

He muttered to himself: Didn't I hear that the eldest son of the Su family bought a mentally challenged wife? How come this young girl doesn't seem like one?

"Yes, please sit down!" the village chief said, and sat down in the main seat at the top.

"Young lady, what brings you here so early in the morning?"

“Village Chief, I do have something to say!” Luo Yunhe said earnestly.

"What is it?"

"I wanted to ask about that vineyard in the wasteland!"

Upon hearing this, the village chief raised his eyes and looked at the little girl: "Don't tell me you want that piece of wasteland!"

"right!"

"That's a wasteland where nothing grows. Are you sure you want it?"

"I'm sure! Does the village chief know where the owner of that wasteland is? And how much he wants to sell it for?"

The village chief saw that she was young and didn't know that nothing could grow on that wasteland. He began to earnestly try to persuade her.

“Young lady, that wasteland really can’t grow anything. If it could, it wouldn’t have been abandoned for so many years.”

Our best farmland is very fertile, while that wasteland is mostly sand and gravel, making it extremely difficult for anything to survive.

If you really want fertile land, there are a few good spots in this village. Why don't you take a look at some other places?

When Luo Yunhe heard that it was sandy soil, her eyes lit up even more, because sandy soil is the best for growing grapes.

As for why those grapes didn't grow, there must be other reasons. She can only explore them slowly in the future and then improve the situation.

"Village chief, I've made up my mind. I want that piece of wasteland. Please believe me, it will never be wasted in my hands!"

“Hey, little girl, you’re still too young! That piece of wasteland may be cheaper, but you don’t need to go for it directly. There are plenty of good lands in our village…”

"Village chief, thank you for your kindness, but I only want that piece of wasteland!"
