Kiss (Part 1)
"younger sister!"
A powerful and forceful sound.
Qu Linghan finally witnessed what it means for someone's voice to arrive before their person does.
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of horses' hooves followed.
The leader was a man with wheat-colored skin, sharp eyebrows, and bright eyes, whose temperament was very similar to Bai Hui's.
Yet it also possesses a touch of gentleness... no, it should be said to have a somewhat endearing clumsiness.
The man rode his horse very fast, as if he had just returned victorious from the battlefield.
They soon arrived in front of Qu Linghan and Bai Hui.
He was beaming with joy; anyone who didn't know him would really think he was a general, at least that's what Qu Linghan thought at the moment.
He slowly stopped, and first bowed respectfully to Bai Hui.
He then turned his gaze back to Qu Linghan with great eagerness, even though Qu Linghan looked completely bewildered.
"younger sister!"
Qu Lingchuan wished he could kneel down in front of Qu Linghan and call her name.
His eyes were full of anticipation and longing for someone he hadn't seen in a long time.
Qu Linghan quickly realized something was wrong and turned his gaze to Bai Hui, only to be met with Bai Hui's "concerned" eyes as he hovered in mid-air.
It wasn't the caring look in his eyes he'd just given her, but rather a look that was both caring and scrutinizing.
Qu Linghan knew that look all too well; Pei Wuyang had always looked like that.
I don't know if Pei Wuyang harbored any ill intentions, but Bai Hui certainly didn't.
However, Bai Hui kept staring, still sporting that incomparably handsome face.
Qu Linghan was somewhat embarrassed. She tilted her elbow and poked Bai Hui.
"Why are you...why are you looking at me like that?"
The outsiders are still here.
Now it was Bai Hui's turn to remain silent.
...
"Ling Han, your brother."
Qu Linghan's reaction time was indeed a bit slow. Qu Lingchuan called her "sister" five times before she realized he was calling her.
"Brother! I miss you so much! Are you alright? Are you eating well? Where are Mom and Dad?... "
Fortunately, Qu Linghan reacted quickly; otherwise, it would have been bad if Bai Hui had seen through her not being the real Qu Linghan.
Although I don't know how Qu Linghan and her brother get along, it's probably right that she's always concerned.
That's how it is...
When faced with a series of question marks from his younger sister, Qu Lingchuan counted on his fingers...
One, two, three...
At the same time, Qu Linghan covered her mouth and chuckled to herself; her military general brother was really interesting.
Within a minute, Qu Lingchuan looked at Qu Linghan with a smile.
"Little sister, I'm doing well. But you, my parents and I are in the Northwest and can't take care of you. It's been years since we last met, and you've changed a lot. Has something terrible happened?"
Qu Lingchuan carefully examined Qu Linghan's face, his eyes filled with worry.
"Sis, is it because my eyesight is bad that I only just noticed the injury on your face? What happened?"
"Also, it's getting late. Why are you out on the street all alone? It's dangerous. Come home with me."
Qu Lingchuan sent Qu Linghan a lot of questions, and Qu Linghan was preparing to answer them as best she could.
"I'm not alone, I'm with..."
However, before he could finish speaking, Qu Lingchuan gestured for Qu Linghan to dismount.
......
What?! Dismount.
No, he was too busy bowing to Bai Hui and catching up with the girl.
How come I only just realized they were riding the same horse?!
"you?!"
"Men and women...should not touch each other!"
Qu Lingchuan looked incredulous, even somewhat ashamed.
It feels like your own cabbage has been offered to a pig.
Qu Linghan pursed her lips, somewhat puzzled.
“Brother, Zhaoming and I have been married for almost a year.”
"Yes, they are a loving couple."
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. The two, who didn't have much affection for each other to begin with, have transformed the little bit of longing they had when they went to war into a loving and devoted couple over time.
Qu Linghan felt a little sweet inside, though she didn't know if Bai Hui was just trying to save face for her brother.
A blush even rose on her face.
Qu Linghan looked up at Bai Hui, trying to see how much sincerity was in his words.
However, the two were so close that this seemingly meaningless action was perceived by Qu Lingchuan as a romantic gesture between husband and wife.
Qu Lingchuan almost fainted.
Fortunately, he held on tightly to the whip.
Seeing Qu Lingchuan swaying, Qu Linghan thoughtfully placed his hand on his back.
"Be careful, brother."
...
If Qu Linghan turned around, she would see Qu Lingchuan's loving face.
My dear little sister, how could she marry such a cold, expressionless, and unpredictable man... so full of youthful vigor, fame at a young age, invincible, and dashing... wait, wrong script...
To make matters worse, his boss turned out to be his brother-in-law.
Is that right?!
What's even more shocking is that he, as the older brother, didn't even know his own sister was getting married.
So, Qu Lingchuan took Qu Linghan's hand and looked into her eyes.
"Sister, why didn't you tell us or our parents about your marriage?"
Qu Linghan felt that Qu Lingchuan was about to jump off the saddle.
Qu Linghan had no idea why her parents didn't know about her marriage, let alone why she herself didn't know why she had to get married as soon as she transmigrated into this world.
She still married Bai Hui, a slow-to-warm-up person, and was even nearly assassinated by her enemies several times.
Luckily, she survived; otherwise, she might never have met her brother.
Qu Linghan pondered for a moment, then met Qu Lingchuan's anxious gaze.
“Brother, when you and Father and Mother were not here, I had a high fever one day and forgot many things. When I regained consciousness, I was already wearing my wedding dress.”
Qu Linghan lowered her eyes, the congealed blood on her face mixed with the pure white moonlight, making her look pitiful.
She spoke softly in the moonlight.
"But it's okay, Zhaoming is very good to me."
Qu Linghan raised his eyes and gestured to Bai Hui.
"Everything is fine, please rest assured, brother."
Qu Linghan didn't think that his relationship with Bai Hui was very deep, and they couldn't even be considered husband and wife.
She felt that Bai Hui was just playing along with him, so she looked up and smiled at Bai Hui as a way of thanking him.
After all, although the two were not husband and wife in reality, they were still husband and wife in name.
It must have been quite embarrassing for someone of Bai Hui's high rank to have rumors of marital discord spread.
That's why he helped me like this, right?
But there must be some genuine feelings involved, right?
They had been sharing a bed for quite some time... and he had just been so gentle with her.
While Qu Linghan was still pondering, Qu Lingchuan was already furious.
His hand was on the lower part of his clothes, his fingers were digging into the silk fabric, leaving deep scratch marks.
Qu Linghan pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes slightly.
It made a trembling sound.
"Brother, what's wrong...?"
"It must be the eldest son's family!!!"
"How dare you marry off my sister while I was away!"
Qu Lingchuan's wheat-colored skin had turned a deep red, probably a mixture of anger and the heat from riding the horse. It must have been too hot.
"I'm going back to my parents right now, and we'll go together to get justice for you!"
Qu Lingchuan turned the horse's head in the opposite direction, intending to leave.
But I felt a tiny force on my arm.
"Brother, you don't need to trouble yourself. I'm really fine now."
Qu Linghan wasn't lying; she genuinely felt that Bai Hui treated her very well.
They gave her money to start her business, gave her her own space, and always came to her rescue in time when she was in danger.
Moreover, she had just arrived in Liuchao and was unfamiliar with the place and its people. If she were left in that home where everyone bullied her...
I might really die...
Looking back now, being by Bai Hui's side was the best thing ever.
Of course, we must exclude Bai Hui's own sharp tongue.
However, Qu Linghan was quite content.
But Qu Lingchuan saw it differently; he believed his sister was forced to accept everything.
Her younger sister deserved better, not this man who wore a mask all day and fought recklessly on the battlefield.
"It's because your brother didn't take good care of you."
After saying that, Qu Lingchuan gently patted Qu Linghan's head, then looked up and rolled his eyes at Bai Hui.
"So that's why the young marquis took such good care of me in the Northwest, he was waiting for me here."
Then, Qu Lingchuan left without looking back, kicking up a cloud of dust.
......
After Qu Lingchuan left, Qu Linghan stopped bothering to speak.
She was exhausted, her upper body curled up in Bai Hui's arms.
She fell asleep shortly afterward.
After an unknown amount of time, the two arrived home with several attendants behind them.
Qu Linghan, still half asleep, felt herself drifting in the air.
"Hmm? Zhaoming..."
"Be careful, cover yourself with the blanket, don't catch a cold."
Bai Hui carried Qu Linghan from the horse to the bed, tucked her in, and was about to leave for the study.
"Zhaoming, don't go..."
Qu Linghan was probably frozen and couldn't be separated from Bai Hui, who was like a portable furnace.
She tugged at Bai Hui's clothes and muttered to herself.
"Okay, I won't leave."
Bai Hui followed Qu Linghan's force back and sat down in front of her.
But Qu Linghan was still not satisfied—no, it should be said that she didn't know what she was dreaming about.
Her hands remained tightly gripping Bai Hui's clothes.
"Ling Han, don't do this."
"Are you cold?"
Bai Hui then planned to bring some hot water to Qu Linghan, but was pulled back by Qu Linghan after taking only one step.
By sheer coincidence, he stepped on Qu Linghan's shoes and ended up pressing down on Qu Linghan in a very strange position.
Fearing that Qu Linghan might feel uncomfortable, Bai Hui propped herself up, wanting to get up.
Qu Linghan opened his eyes and placed his hands on Bai Hui's neck.
Then...they kissed.
Bai Hui suddenly felt a warm sensation on her cold lips.
Warm, tender, and captivating.
Qu Linghan's eyes widened suddenly, as if he had regained consciousness.
He then released his hand from Bai Hui's neck, his eyes were blank, and his face was lifeless.
Qu Linghan was now truly awake and turned her face away.
"Oh my god, what have I done?"
Qu Linghan wanted to slap himself again, but Bai Hui was still in front of him.
Qu Linghan could even feel the warmth of her body and hear her rapid breathing.
Qu Linghan seemed to have made up his mind.
Turning his head towards Bai Hui, a thin layer of sweat had already formed on his forehead.
Qu Linghan put his sleeve over his hands and gently wiped his pale forehead.
"Zhaoming, thank you for today..."
Before Qu Linghan could finish speaking, Bai Hui suddenly approached.
With heavy breaths, their lips met.
It's so warm...
