Chapter 47 Chapter 47 Moving out of the Si family.
Old Master Si had just woken up from a nap. When he heard that Si Cheng and Xia Ji had returned, he told them to go to the ancestral hall and wait.
The Si family's ancestral hall is located in a separate small courtyard at the west rear of the entire old house complex. On weekdays, there are only servants who clean and light incense. Except for special festivals and memorial days, people basically do not go there.
When the old man walked into the ancestral hall, his face was frighteningly dark.
I was already angry, and I was even more angry when I saw the two of them wearing couple outfits.
When he caught sight of Xia Ji, he was not polite at all. As soon as Xia Ji called him "Grandpa", he said, "Your last name is not Si, what are you doing here?"
Ding Man was right, the old man was indeed difficult to deal with.
"Grandpa, if this is your attitude, then I'm leaving." Si Cheng said.
"Go away, where are you going? This is your home! This is my attitude today. You two must separate, and Xia Ji must move out of the Si family now." The old man leaned on his cane angrily.
"If he moves, I will move too." Si Cheng said.
"Kneel down!" the old man shouted.
Xia Ji looked at Si Cheng nervously.
"I didn't do anything wrong, why should I kneel?" Si Cheng quietly watched the furious old man. "You asked me to come back, so I came back and told you face to face: I want to be with Xia Ji, and we'll be together forever. We'll never be apart in this life, and maybe even in the next. So if you want to kick him out, I'll leave too. I respect you, and I hope you respect me."
His firm attitude made Xia Tian feel sad.
"Then all of you get out of here!" the old man said angrily.
"Okay." Si Cheng pulled Xia Ji and was about to leave, as if he couldn't stay for a moment.
The old man's eyes widened. "You did this on purpose, didn't you? Just wait for me to say this!"
Si Cheng also had a blank expression on his face. "Yes, it's inconvenient to live here. I've always wanted to move out but couldn't find an excuse."
"You, you, you..." The old man pointed at Si Cheng and kept scolding him for a long time, but he couldn't do anything about him.
This grandson grew up under his lap. He watched him grow from a baby in swaddling clothes to his current tall figure, and from being ignorant to being able to stand on his own.
He understood his character. In fact, if it weren't for Xia Ji, his relationship with Si Cheng wouldn't be as close as it is now, because Si Cheng had never been close to his family since he was a child. Later, Xia Ji moved in. Xia Ji was a talkative and likable person who often came to play with him, so Si Cheng came over more often.
The old man snorted fiercely, turned his gaze to Xia Ji, and said coldly, "Xia Ji, come with me."
Xia Ji glanced at Si Cheng.
Si Cheng was very dissatisfied. "Why are you looking for him? He is not your grandson. He has no obligation to listen to your lecture."
This was a reciprocation of what the old man had just said, "Your surname isn't Si, so why are you staying here?"
"Even though he's not my grandson, I still watched him grow up. I'm sorry I'm bothering you by talking to him!" The old man raised his cane as if to hit someone.
Si Cheng quickly moved away.
No matter how it is solved, the problem must be solved.
"Grandpa, you want to talk to me alone, right? Where to go? Just tell me." Xia Ji pulled Si Cheng.
The old man snorted coldly, "Follow me."
They entered the wing room on the east side of the ancestral hall. Sicheng was outside, and the door was closed, blocking out the outside sounds.
The old man didn't have the heart to put on airs. He just stood in the middle of the room, looking at Xia Ji who was standing at the door in the distance.
"Xia Ji, you have been a sensible and considerate child since you were young, and you have brought a lot of joy to our family, but I will never agree with what you and Si Cheng are doing."
"I hope you can take the initiative to separate from Si Cheng, so that our Si family will not be left without descendants and become a laughing stock."
Xia Tian still looked gentle and soft, but his words were surprisingly firm. "I'm sorry, Grandpa. I understand what you said. Being cut off and being laughed at is very serious for you. But what matters most to me is Sicheng."
"As long as he is still willing to be with me, as long as he still wants me, then I will never separate from him."
The old man looked at him in astonishment. He had thought Xia Tian would be easy to control, but he didn't expect that he was so tough inside.
"So you can bear to see an old man like me so sad and in pain? Just for your own selfish reasons?"
"I can't bear it." Xia Tian's eyes were filled with sadness, but he smiled. "But what I can't bear even more is seeing Si Cheng sad. If I saw him sad, I... I can't imagine that scene, because as soon as I think about it, my heart aches."
Mr. Si was completely shocked by his words. He knew that there was no way to start from Xia Ji.
"So if you want me to leave him on my own initiative, that's absolutely impossible."
Xia Ji left the room, and the old man took two steps back and sat down dejectedly on the mahogany chair.
"What did he tell you?" Si Cheng asked with concern.
"You want me to leave you on my own initiative. I say it's impossible and tell him to give up the idea." Xia Tian curled his lips.
Si Cheng smiled, his eyes sparkling.
At this time, footsteps were heard outside. It was Ding Man coming over with a tablet in her hand.
Seeing that they were alone, he asked, "Where's Grandpa? Hasn't he come yet?"
"In the room." Xia Ji pointed to the room on the east side.
"Okay, he's finished talking to you, right? Leave the rest to me." Ding Man walked straight into the room.
Xia Ji was a little confused, and Si Cheng just pulled him away.
"Do you really want to move out?" Xia Ji asked.
"Your mental strength is stronger than I thought. He asked you to move out, so how can you continue to live here?" Si Cheng asked back.
"But this is your home after all."
"Home doesn't just mean a house. You can bear this, but I can't. And I've been prepared for this kind of situation."
After going up to the second floor, the two returned to their rooms to pack their luggage.
After returning home, Si Guanqing first looked for Ding Man. The servant told him that Ding Man had gone to the old man's place, but after Si Cheng and Xia Ji came back, they went straight to the second floor.
Si Cheng and Xia Ji's rooms were opposite each other, and both of their doors were open. Si Guanqing went straight into Si Cheng's room and saw a suitcase that had just been checked in standing in the middle of the room, and another suitcase that was being loaded.
Si Cheng came out of the cloakroom with a few things in his hands.
Si Guanqing said with a cold expression, "Come with me."
Si Cheng put down his things, which were all clothes and accessories that Xia Ji bought for him. He picked out the ones he liked because Xia Ji bought too many.
The two entered Si Guanqing's study on the first floor.
He was called by the old man early this morning and was severely scolded. He was in a bad mood at work all day.
Si Guanqing walked directly to the French window with his hands behind his back, turned around and looked at Si Cheng with a grim expression, "Tell me what you want to do."
Si Cheng's expression was calm, as if he didn't notice Si Guanqing's anxiety. It had nothing to do with him. "Get married."
"Who?" Si Guanqing was in disbelief. He thought he had misheard and was shocked by his son's stubbornness. "Who are you marrying?"
"Xia Ji." Si Cheng looked at him. "Hasn't same-sex marriage been allowed for a long time?"
"Yes, we could have gotten married a long time ago, but our family is different from ordinary families."
The father and son looked at each other. Si Guanqing felt that he could not convince his son, so he used his grandfather to deal with him. "What about grandpa? He said he wanted to have a great-grandson."
"It's easy to have a great-grandson. Just teach him about artificial wombs." Si Cheng was puzzled. "He never told me that he wanted to have a great-grandson."
"His old friends all have great-grandchildren now, and someone even called him this morning to ask about him," Si Guanqing said. "He wants you to get married and have children normally, in a respectable way."
Si Cheng's eyes remained deep. "Anyone can get married and have children normally, but finding someone you love is hard."
Si Guanqing snorted, "I understand your thoughts, but the uproar between you and Xia Ji is not good for our family's reputation."
Si Cheng said: "We are in a normal relationship. As long as you fully support us, our reputation can be completely restored."
Xia packed up his things in the summer. Actually, he just picked up a few things at random. After all, he had lived here for more than ten years. Even if it was not home, it was almost home.
He saw that Si Cheng was not in the room, so he went downstairs to ask the servant. He learned that he and Si Guanqing had gone to the study, so he went back to Si Cheng's room to wait for him.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, Si Cheng came back. He couldn't tell from his face what he was talking about, so Xia Ji asked directly, "What did uncle say?"
"Let's move out first. It's not that easy for Grandpa." Si Cheng packed the things on the bed into the suitcase one by one. "The old man cares about his reputation and has a strong sense of self-esteem."
Xia Ji also helped him pack up, "Then where are we moving to?"
"I've already prepared a house in Dongping, so we can just move in."
Dongping District is right next door and is also the city center.
When the two of them were carrying their boxes downstairs, they happened to meet Ding Man who had just returned from the old man's place.
"Oh, are you sure you want to move out?" Ding Man joked with a smile.
Xia Ji didn't know how she could smile, "Yes, Auntie."
There were four boxes for the two of them, so Ding Man called two servants to help them carry them.
"I just spent a lot of time telling the old man that his Si family will not be discontinued. I feel like his attitude has softened a lot. If you move out now, I guess he will find an excuse to call you back soon."
"Really?" Xia Tian asked.
Ding Man followed them and took them to the yard where the car was parked in the backyard.
"Don't you know what kind of personality your grandfather has? He's just angry right now. Once he calms down, he'll figure it out." Ding Man said.
Xia Ji hugged Ding Man and said, "Thank you, Auntie."
Ding Man patted his back and smiled gently, "I just want you to be happy."
Si Cheng stood beside the car and said, "Let's go."
Xia Ji let her go and said, "I'm leaving, Auntie. I'll come back to see you in two days."
"It's okay. You'll all be back sooner or later anyway." Ding Man said, then looked at Si Cheng, "Mom knows you're opinionated, but as for Grandpa, he's old. You should be softer with your words sometimes and don't make him too angry."
