Punishment

Punishment

This person was a stranger she had never seen before, and he looked a little ugly.

He had a square face, a broad chin, and his facial features were all different from each other, with no harmony at all.

When she looked at his face, he pushed her away fiercely, and then patted the lapel of his shirt that touched her face in disgust.

Dislike her? ?

Yu Heyi was furious.

She slapped the man's chest with her palm, knocking him back several feet. He was only saved from falling to the ground by the guards who rushed over.

The guards drew their swords, their blades surrounding her on all sides.

"Your Highness, are you alright?"

A guard helped the man up and asked cautiously.

"How dare you!" He snatched the knife from one of the guards, pushed the guard in front of him away, and swung it hard at her cheek. "No one dares to touch me. If you dare to push me, I will make you pay the price!"

Your Highness? This King?

She was stunned for a moment before she realized the other person's identity. He should be the Queen's son, Princess Shaolin's brother, and the current Crown Prince Duan Qiezhi.

The knife flashed, and she subconsciously raised her hand to block it, while circulating the spiritual power in her body.

As if sensing the danger, Qingshuangpo was stopped when he was about to release his divine power.

A big hand was placed on her brow, and the warmth of the palm spread across her forehead.

With a crisp "clang" sound, Duan Qiezhi's attacking blade flew out of his hand and smashed deeply into the soil.

The guards who were the first to be hit were knocked down, and Duan Qiezhi also staggered a few steps, covering his chest with his hands.

The impact just now was too great.

The man in front of him held a silver sword, with the tip of the sword pointing directly at his eyebrows.

He said lazily, "You're running wild right under my nose. Do you think you've lived too long?"

"How dare you! Do you believe that I will kill you?"

"Then I really don't believe it." Wanqi Si pressed the tip of his sword against Duan Qiezhi's brow, gradually increasing the force, piercing a bloody hole between his brows. "I'm standing right here, and you get up and kill me."

Yu Heyi quickly grabbed his wrist and pulled him back, fearing that he would lose control and kill Duan Qiezhi.

"Brother, this man is the prince..."

Before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by the Queen and Princess Shaolin who came over: "What are you doing?!"

The queen was accompanied by a famous guard, who must have just sneaked out to file a complaint.

"I respect you two as guests. Are you two being too presumptuous in the palace?"

"Come here, take him down!"

The guards surrounded the two men, and Yu Heyi grabbed Wanqi Si's wrist.

Wan Qi Si thought she was scared, so he pursed his lips and said comfortingly, "What are you afraid of? Who dares to touch you when I'm standing here?"

Yu Heyi said with a worried look on his face, "I'm afraid you won't control your strength and kill people."

The queen flew into a rage upon hearing this.

"Empress, it was His Royal Highness the Crown Prince who started it."

She tried to explain to ease the situation, but it was no use. The guards still approached them with knives.

"Everyone, stop!" Princess Shaolin suddenly spoke. She walked over to Duan Qiezhi and pulled him up, then turned to face the Queen. "Mother, let's hear what Ayi has to say first. Otherwise, if word gets out, outsiders will say our royal family is unreasonable."

"Princess, I accidentally bumped into His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and was subsequently surrounded by his guards. My senior brother didn't mean to hurt His Royal Highness, but to protect me."

"Bullshit!"

Duan Qiezhi pointed at Yu Heyi's nose and cursed, "Why didn't you tell me about the time you sneaked around the study and stole something?"

"Stealing?"

The Queen and Princess Shaolin were both stunned and looked at Duan Qiezhi.

"Brother, is what you said true? If you wrongly accuse Ayi, I will cut off all ties with you!"

Princess Shaolin's eyes lingered between the two of them.

One is his blood-related brother, and the other is a friend who saved his father's life not long ago.

She didn't want the two of them to clash at all.

But the fact is that only one of them told the truth.

Yu Heyi took out the sachet from her sleeve. Although she had roughly wiped off the dirt on the sachet, it still looked dirty.

"Your Highness is talking about this sachet, right?"

The moment the sachet appeared in her palm, she, Wanqi Si and Princess Shaolin all saw a flash of panic in the eyes of the Queen and Duan Qiezhi.

If you haven't done anything to feel guilty about, why would you be panicking?

Duan Qiexing said stubbornly, "Do you dare to say that this sachet belongs to you? If not, then it must have been stolen from the palace!"

"This sachet is definitely not mine," she said calmly. "I found it in the mud, so I dug it out. Your Highness, is picking something up from the ground considered stealing?"

Princess Shaolin looked at the sachet in her hand, hesitated, walked to her side, and sniffed it gently.

She exclaimed in surprise, "Isn't this the sachet that my mother gave to my father a few months ago? Why is it here, and so dirty?"

Everyone's eyes turned to the queen, and the queen had to say that she didn't know anything about this matter, and that there must be a thief in the palace.

Yu Heyi proved that he had not stolen or robbed anything, and the guards did not want to continue to embarrass them, so they put down their knives.

Unexpectedly, the Queen and Duan Qiezhi refused to give in. She looked at them with resentment and said in a deep voice, "Although this sachet was discarded here and you happened to pick it up, it doesn't count as theft. But your sneaky appearance here is definitely a sign of evil intentions. Moreover, you injured the Crown Prince, so you must be punished!"

"Mother!"

"You have no right to speak here! Get out!"

Several of the guards said "I'm sorry" to Princess Shaolin and took her out of the main hall regardless of her willingness.

It seems that the Queen and Duan Qiezhi have no intention of letting them go.

The queen sneered and walked towards the two of them.

"I've disliked you for a long time. I don't know where this wild girl came from. Don't you know that meddling in other people's affairs will shorten your life?"

"I've noticed that you have some strength, but the guards in the palace are no fools either. I'm going to kill you today, so just go and die!"

"Your Majesty, are you planning to be unreasonable?"

"Reason? What I say is reason! After I kill you, I'll tell everyone in the world that I found two traitors sneaking around outside His Majesty's study. Do you think the people will believe me?"

"If you dare to resist, you are rebelling!"

Wanqi Si flicked his wrist and lazily raised his eyelids: "Then I really did rebel, what can you do to me?"

Following the Queen's order, several guards rushed into the main hall.

Unlike the previous guards, these guards were not human, but their auras were deliberately concealed.

He raised his sword and glanced at the guards, and heard Yu Heyi's worried voice.

"Brother, if we hurt anyone, we won't be able to continue walking in the palace!"

"If we don't take action, we'll be stabbed into a sieve."

The guard took the first step, but Wanqi Si did not completely ignore her words and chose to passively defend himself.

The clash of swords and knives generates fluctuations in spiritual power.

These guards...are they immortals?

Doubts arose in Yu Heyi's mind, but he then dismissed the idea.

It was normal for the palace to have immortals guarding it. She couldn't be sure whether these guards were the emperor's men or working for the queen.

But this group of guards together were no match for Wanqi Si alone.

Duan Qiezhi was so angry that he gritted his teeth, but he was no match for him.

Seeing that the guards were no match for the other side, Duan Qiezhi whispered something to the queen, and then a fierce look appeared in his eyes.

Unfortunately, before he could take the next step, he was interrupted by a majestic voice.

"Let's see who dares to touch them!"

Hearing this voice, the Queen and he both froze in expression, with the former even turning back in disbelief.

Princess Shaolin supported the emperor as he slowly walked into the main hall. Although the emperor looked weak, he was much better than when he was bedridden a few months ago.

It was obvious that Princess Shaolin had gotten rid of the guards and ran to the emperor for help.

Seeing this, the mother and son had no choice but to bow respectfully.

"They are both honored guests of the palace. No one can make things difficult for them, including you, the Queen!"

"...I obey your command."

Princess Shaolin led them out of the main hall, unaware that there were three pairs of eyes behind them, staring closely at their backs.

Princess Shaolin and the emperor returned to the bedroom, while Yu Heyi was grabbed by the wrist by Wanqi Si again and jumped into the trees.

The palace was a mixed crowd, and he could only feel at ease if he was on a high place and could observe everything that was happening on the ground without being eavesdropped on.

Without clear evidence, they could not express their suspicions to the emperor.

Even though they donated the Blood Elixir to save his life, they were still outsiders, while the Queen and the Crown Prince were his relatives.

“Brother, I suspect the emperor’s poisoning is related to the Shen Mansion incident. Both Shen Xu and the emperor have come into contact with poppies. This must be the work of the same person.”

"I sneaked into the Queen's room but found nothing. Thinking that the affairs of the Heavenly Palace were left to the Queen, I went to the study and found a sachet made of poppy flowers."

"But I saw a figure in the study. The person had his back to me, so I couldn't see his face clearly."

Wanqi Si broke the branch in his hand into small pieces and threw it under the tree. "Perhaps this man is their accomplice. On a worse-case scenario, all these things might have been caused by him."

"Brother, have you found anything else at the Imperial Hospital?"

"The director of the Imperial Hospital committed suicide out of fear of punishment."

Hearing this, Yu Heyi paused and looked up at him.

"From what I've heard, it was Lin Jian who compiled all the dirty deeds he's done over the years. One of them was that the court envoy wanted to poison the queen. Although the queen escaped by accident, the court envoy was not able to escape being beheaded."

"Now that he's dead, Lin Jian is the only director of the Imperial Hospital."

"Mortals really do whatever it takes for their own benefit."

She sighed and then felt that it was not just an ordinary person.

It seems that everyone in the world is like this, putting their own interests first and not hesitating to sacrifice others.

She suddenly remembered the god in her dream.

That person seemed to be different from everyone else in the world. He regarded all living beings as his life, but was sacrificed by all living beings.

"I also found out something about Yu Heyi." Wan Qi Si saw that she had her head down, not knowing what she was thinking. He raised his hand and tucked the strands of hair by her cheek behind her ear. "Lin Jian is from the royal family."

Are they a family with the emperor and empress?

Then why didn't he live in the royal family, but instead made a living on Anru Street?

After a long time, he jumped down from the tree and gave her a look.

She knew what he was going to do.

He wanted to take her to the Imperial Hospital, the residence of the deceased hospital envoy.

The body of the envoy has been dealt with, and almost no one is willing to go near this place.

It's very simple, because death is bad luck.

The room was very tidy. There was a desk in the corner and the bedding on the bed was neatly folded.

It looks perfectly normal.

But being so normal is abnormal.

How could a person who committed suicide out of fear of punishment have the mind to clean up his home?

"Brother, don't you think this place has been deliberately tidied up by someone, and the person who tidied it up definitely wasn't the Dean himself?"

Wanqi Si remained silent and looked around the room.

Finally he stopped at the desk.

He picked up a brush on the table. The ink on the tip of the brush had solidified a little, but the ink on the inkstone next to it was not completely dry.

There was a pile of medical books on the corner of the table, with a notebook tucked in among them. The date on the last page was April 15th, but the ink on the notebook had long since dried up.

"The abbot must have written something before he died."

“But now, those things are gone.”
