"How could he possibly take my Phoenix Fire? This Phoenix Fire is my life-blood fire, and it has been with me for a full thirty thousand years. He's not from the Phoenix Clan, so how could he take it away? Does he have the blood of my Phoenix Clan?!"
Chi Yun immediately shook his head, denying his own conclusion: "The three tribes' divine beasts are incompatible. If he truly possessed the blood of my Phoenix Clan, he wouldn't have been able to successfully bury the dragon bone and would have been attacked by it. He doesn't have Phoenix Clan blood, yet he was still able to take away my life-giving Phoenix Fire. Could it be... because of his perfect Yuan Shen?!"
All the mysteries remain unknown. Chi Yun stood on the branch of the sycamore tree and looked at Luo Jianqing with a complicated expression.
Under the dense, lush shade of the trees, the handsome young man was in so much pain that he didn't know whether he was alive or dead. He kept whimpering, sometimes saying "it hurts", sometimes saying "Master", but most of the time he was calling out a name -
No sound.
These cries of pain reached Chi Yun's ears, and her gaze gradually softened. She raised her hand and pulled the unconscious Xuan Lingzi back to the sycamore tree. The huge tree then gently placed a few branches on Xuan Lingzi's hand to heal his wounds.
No sound, no sound.
I guess this person is Wuyin?
This young cultivator possessed a resolute mind and immense willpower. The pain he felt was enough to cause him to lose consciousness, demonstrating the depth of the torment inflicted by the Phoenix Fire. And at this moment, the only person who could have caused him to cry out in such a fragile and uncertain voice must have been the one he trusted most.
Chi Yun's gaze flickered between Luo Jianqing and Xuan Lingzi. Her figure grew increasingly ethereal. After an unknown amount of time, it was practically transparent, as if it could vanish at any moment. Yet, she remained by Luo Jianqing's side, waiting for him to awaken from the burning of the boundless phoenix fire.
Blood oozed out from the pores all over his body, turning Luo Jianqing into a bloody man.
Now, he no longer cries out in pain, because the pain has penetrated into his bones and he cannot cry out even if he wants to.
Chi Yun looked at him silently. "Today, I am unable to control the Phoenix Fire. The outcome depends on your luck. If you can survive this calamity, you will be the only one in the world who can combine dragon bone and Phoenix Fire for a lifetime. I cannot predict your future, but... it is definitely limitless! So, can you survive this calamity?"
Another hundred days passed, and when Luo Jianqing opened his eyes, he suddenly felt his eyes were clear and his whole body was filled with powerful spiritual energy.
Luo Jianqing immediately used his spiritual sense to survey his entire body, quickly discovering that his tendons and veins had become much stronger, more spacious and sturdy after the training. Even more astonishing was his dantian: at the center of the lotus, a small flame was blazing. From afar, the flames looked scorching hot, and he could feel a wave of heat rushing towards him.
So in order to practice Nirvana, one has to leave a ball of phoenix fire in the body?
Luo Jianqing stood up and walked towards the sycamore tree, shouting "Senior" twice, but all he got in response was an empty echo. Luo Jianqing frowned and shouted again. This time, he finally saw Chi Yun, but when he saw him, his eyes widened in horror: "Senior, what's wrong with you?"
On the branches of the phoenix tree, the red-dressed Phoenix Girl had become so ethereal that she was barely perceptible. Her body was almost completely transparent, with only a faint flicker of flame in her long hair to attract attention.
Chi Yun lowered his eyes, looked at Luo Jianqing, and said: "You have learned Nirvana and obtained a ball of Phoenix Fire."
Luo Jianqing didn't know the true origin of the Phoenix Fire. He bowed and said respectfully, "Thank you, Senior, for teaching me the secret method."
Chi Yun didn't intend to tell him the source of the Phoenix Fire, but simply said, "With this Phoenix Fire, as long as you don't get hurt to the point of death, you'll have the chance to be reborn in Nirvana. Remember, when you achieve Nirvana, you must return here and use the Phoenix Fire to ignite the leaves of the Wutong tree, letting the flames burn your body. The Wutong tree is the last Phoenix Wutong tree on the Xuantian Continent. Without it, you won't be able to achieve Nirvana in this lifetime. Everyone in my Phoenix Clan is given a Wutong tree at birth, and the one you see before you is mine."
Luo Jianqing nodded: "Do we have to come back here?"
Chi Yun said, "Indeed, you must return here and use the phoenix leaves to ignite the Phoenix Fire. Secondly, you must understand that Nirvana does not allow you to be reborn infinitely. The first time you achieve Nirvana, you will encounter the least resistance. After that, each time you achieve Nirvana, you will be in greater and greater danger. In the history of my Phoenix Clan, only three phoenixes have successfully achieved Nirvana for the third time, and only the Phoenix Ancestor has achieved Nirvana for the fourth time. Therefore, you are not a Phoenix. You can only achieve Nirvana twice at most. Remember not to attempt a third time."
Luo Jianqing agreed to all of them.
Chi Yun gave some more important points to note. Finally, Luo Jianqing couldn't help but ask, "Senior, your body..."
Chi Yun said calmly, "I've already said that I perished fifty thousand years ago. Now I'm simply returning to the ending I was meant to be."
Luo Jianqing fell silent and asked no more questions.
Chi Yun turned to look at the sycamore tree beside her. She gently placed her hand on the sturdy, rough trunk and caressed it tenderly. As if in response, the enormous tree began to sway slightly, its leaves rubbing against each other, making a rustling sound, as if singing a warm and gentle lullaby.
Spreading his arms, Chi Yun embraced the sycamore tree.
The phoenix and the tree enjoyed the tranquility of the moment. The sycamore tree also extended some branches, gently holding Chi Yun in its arms, stroking her hair like a mother.
After a long time, Chi Yun said in a low voice: "Wutong, I'm leaving first. You stay here... and live well."
The leaves swayed as if in answer.
