Chapter 29

Luo Jianqing never thought that he would see this book again in his life, and... it would be the second volume.

Luo Jianqing had destroyed the copy of "Seeking Immortality" after confirming that it remembered him. If someone else got their hands on something like that, it would definitely cause a bloody storm. Hiding it anywhere would be unsafe; the only appropriate solution was to destroy it.

Luo Jianqing remembered that the words "one, two, three, four" had never been written in the book "Seeking Immortality", but the ending of the book did indeed only write about Li Xiuchen leaving Liuyan Valley, gaining the trust of many junior brothers and sisters in Taihua Mountain, and replacing his position as the eldest senior brother.

However, everything has changed since Luo Jianqing was reborn.

Li Xiuchen's repeated opportunities to shine were completely lost. Originally the second disciple of Yuxiao Peak, he was now merely an insignificant inner disciple among Haoming Peak's many disciples. Luo Jianqing frowned, pondering for a moment before finally clutching the second volume of "Seeking Immortality" and flipping through it.

The viewing lasted less than a quarter of an hour.

Immortal cultivators have always had memories several times better than mortals, and Luo Jianqing, at the Nascent Soul stage, far surpassed even those of his peers. He immediately destroyed the book after reading it. The book's content seemed to follow on from the previous book, "Seeking Immortality," recounting how Li Xiuchen, after returning from Flowing Flame Valley with hundreds of Flame Fruits, traded them for a significant amount of resources, much to Xuan Lingzi's astonishment.

Hundreds of flame fruits!

Even if Xuan Lingzi broke the restrictions of Liuyan Valley and went there in person, he might not be able to get so many flame fruits.

Xuan Lingzi's power to sweep across the Flowing Flame Valley was certainly impressive, but the Flame Fruit lacked any spiritual energy fluctuations. When not absorbing, it was simply an ordinary fruit, undetectable even by spiritual consciousness. This, then, exemplified Li Xiuchen's terrifying luck, making him a veritable figure of influence within Mount Taihua.

These memories were identical to Luo Jianqing's memories from his previous life, but in Seeking Immortality II, Luo Jianqing did witness some interesting scenes. For example, the book specifically stated that he, Luo Jianqing, left Flowing Flame Valley on the last day, and upon leaving the valley, he immediately took out the twenty or so Flame Fruits he had obtained.

The crowd's reactions were filled with surprise and admiration, with some even saying, "Fellow Daoist Luo is definitely number one in this Flowing Flame Valley adventure!"

Then, at the last moment when the door was about to close, Li Xiuchen arrived.

Li Xiuchen quickly took out more than a hundred Flame Fruits, shocking the entire audience. The book also said—

Upon seeing this scene, the handsome senior brother in white immediately darkened his expression, feeling extremely miserable. He angrily flung his sleeves and left, yet no one noticed his departure. Even the words "Definitely number one" from before still echoed in Luo Jianqing's ears, like a vicious slap in the face, burning him!

In response to this, Luo Jianqing touched his face: "..."

...While he was certainly frustrated in his previous life, he wasn't so narrow-minded as to become enraged simply because someone outmaneuvered him. Luo Jianqing remembered leaving in genuine anger, but it wasn't for the Flame Fruit, but for Li Xiuchen's words: "Fortunately, Master gave me some defensive magic weapons before leaving, otherwise I might not have been able to leave Flowing Flame Valley."

When he went to Liuyan Valley, Xuan Lingzi only said: "Don't bring shame to Yuxiao Peak."

Why did Xuan Lingzi give Li Xiuchen a magic weapon when he went?!

Thinking of this, Luo Jianqing's blood boiled again, but then he thought of the man he had forced into a desperate situation a few days ago. He felt both bitter and amused. Luo Jianqing didn't understand why that man had treated him that way in his past life. At least when he went to Liuyan Valley in his past life, Xuan Lingzi didn't sever his soul and follow him in.

Could it be that he had done something in this life that caused Xuan Lingzi to develop feelings for him that went beyond that of a master and a disciple?

There is no solution after all.

That person was hiding in the bamboo house next door like a turtle, and he was completely closed off, refusing to come out. Luo Jianqing couldn't think of any way to force that person out. At least he had been kneeling in front of the bamboo house for more than 40 days, and that person hadn't wavered at all.

Luo Jianqing lowered his eyes to look at the gray debris on the ground—the remains of the burned Quest for Immortality II. He couldn't help but laugh and said loudly, "Master, the once-in-seven-year sect competition will be held in a year. This time, will you come out and instruct your disciple so that I won't bring shame to Yuxiao Peak again?"

There was also a hint of spiritual power mixed in this voice. As long as Wuyin had not completely abandoned his five senses, he would definitely be able to hear it.

However, what answered Luo Jianqing was a long silence.

Luo Jianqing was not annoyed, but instead shouted loudly: "Master, if I lose in the sect competition, how will you scold me?"

Still no one answered.

Luo Jianqing continued calmly, "Since you don't answer me, then I lose."

"brush--"

A golden sword light suddenly passed through the crack in the bamboo house's door, parting a strand of hair from Luo Jianqing's forehead, as if intimidating or warning. Seeing this scene, Luo Jianqing opened his eyes wide in surprise. He was about to speak when he felt a terrifying pressure crash down from the sky, pinning him to the bamboo couch, unable to move.

The pressure from the Spiritualization cultivator made Luo Jianqing breathless, and sweat began to bead on his bulging forehead. He tried hard to hold his body up, but it felt like he was being pressed down by a huge rock weighing tens of thousands of pounds. He tried to speak again, but every word that came to his lips could not come out, as if someone had sealed his mouth.

Luo Jianqing refused to bow his head, so the pressure was not lifted.

After a day and a night, the pressure suddenly disappeared as mysteriously as when it came.
