Chapter 108 Fighting Against Heaven

Chapter 108 Fighting Against Heaven

A melodious tune gradually rose, carrying an ancient and resonant tone, as if the air itself carried a faint scent of wood. Ya Feiyu lowered his eyelashes, playing the melody according to the score. As he plucked the strings, the tune gradually became more urgent. A sinister wind blew in from the window, ruffling his flowing black hair. A strange premonition gripped Ya Feiyu, and he stopped playing. Just then, a thick, eerie fog suddenly drifted in from outside the window. The situation changed abruptly; the inky fog aggressively wrapped around A Ying's slender, soft neck. Ya Feiyu's pupils contracted—it was the very demonic energy that had afflicted the entire village with a serious illness, and it had appeared at this moment!

Alarm bells rang in his mind. Ya Feiyu put down his guqin and rushed to the other side of the bed. He circulated his magic, trying to absorb the demonic energy, but he found it to be of little use. Instead, the demonic energy became even more rampant, wrapping around his wrist and slowly climbing up his forearm, as if it wanted to drag him into an abyss. Ya Feiyu couldn't hide his disgust, but the Blood Jade Demon Pearl that had been dormant within him for a long time resonated with him at this moment. The world before his eyes seemed to shake suddenly, and a strong sense of dizziness came over him. Ya Feiyu couldn't even kneel steadily and swayed as he fell to the side of the bed, feeling dizzy and disoriented.

His slightly cool hand still gripped Aying's small, sweaty hand tightly, as if afraid that if he let go, the little girl would be devoured by the demonic energy. Even though he himself was also somewhat delirious under the influence of the demonic energy.

A dark shadow swept past him. Ya Feiyu looked back warily. In the thick fog stood a tall figure, dressed in the black robes typical of demonic cultivators, which completely obscured his face, revealing only the lower half. Ya Feiyu forced his eyes open. His perception of human emotions was always extremely keen, and the intense hatred emanating from the person before him made him tremble. In his current state, if anything happened to him, not only would saving A Ying be out of the question, but even protecting himself would be a problem.

Ye Chi and the others were waiting for him outside the door, but their condition was probably no better. Ya Feiyu thought, otherwise, they would have noticed the dense demonic energy at first glance.

In other words, he has now ended up in a terrible situation, surrounded by enemies on all sides.

However, there may still be a way to break the deadlock.

"Are you going to kill me?" A daring thought popped into his mind. This was probably the only way out in this predicament, and at such a critical moment, Ya Feiyu never minded taking the risk. He turned around, looking at the man in black with a defiant expression. A smirk played on his lips, and his eyes, now tinged with demonic energy, seemed to carry a hint of the sinister arrogance of his past life. It had been so long since he'd played the villain that he was starting to doubt whether he was even a truly good person.

Although being that pure and noble immortal in this life does feel pretty good, sometimes, some things cannot be solved simply by being a virtuous gentleman.

Since he's already in an abyss of no return, why not fall even deeper?

The surrounding demonic energy surged violently, staining Ya Feiyu's clear eyes with a bloodthirsty glint. His face, which rarely showed any extra emotion, was now filled with madness. His smile revealed an almost cruel innocence, and one could vaguely see the insane, murderous demeanor of his past life.

"Why not give it a try?" He narrowed his eyes slightly, revealing a hint of languor, as if he were not facing a life-or-death situation. "How about challenging me?"

Demonic energies clashed, and a flash of sword light streaked across the sky.

...

The sky was pure, the color of blood.

A strange phenomenon suddenly appeared in the crimson sky: a rift rapidly split open, and at its center pulsated a dazzling white light, as if it were alive, or even the eye of the sky. The moment Ye Chi glimpsed the crack, a strange and intense unease welled up in his heart. The surrounding temperature rapidly dropped, and a bloody scent filled the air, giving off an inexplicable sense of desolation.

Xu Miaomiao frowned slightly and quickly stood back-to-back with Ye Chi and Shi Bai, forming a small circle. Shi Bai's nose twitched; as a mixed-race individual, his senses were far more acute than those of cultivators. He tensed up, like a pack of wolves whose territory had been invaded, scanning their surroundings, trying to locate the audacious intruder, muttering, "Demonic energy..."

"Demonic energy?" Upon hearing the keyword, Ye Chi's pupils constricted sharply. Suddenly, a mournful cry, like that of a wild beast, echoed from the horizon. The three exchanged glances and simultaneously looked in the direction of the sound. In the distance, the overlapping mountains collapsed with a deafening roar, and a gigantic black shadow emerged from the ground. Even from a considerable distance, the tremors nearly caused them to lose their footing. Shi Bai barely managed to maintain his balance, looked up, and froze in astonishment: "That's...that's the Kunpeng?!"

Kunpeng? That ancient mythical beast that disappeared after the end of the Chaos Era?

Upon hearing this, Ye Chi and Xu Miaomiao looked towards the source of the tremor again. The enormous black shadow was indeed the size of a whale, with its wings spread wide, seemingly capable of blotting out the sky. It let out a low roar, carrying immense power, and the ground trembled three more times.

"Oh no, this is terrible!" Xu Miaomiao exclaimed. "What exactly is going on?! Why did the sky suddenly change color, and how did this Kunpeng wake up?!"

"The sky..." Ye Chi, who hadn't spoken for a long time, suddenly opened his mouth, his voice somewhat dazed. Shi Bai and Xu Miaomiao, upon hearing this, couldn't help but look up in unison. They saw that the blood-red sky not only had the inexplicably appearing crack, but the moon had also risen. But strangely, before all this happened, the sun had clearly not yet set, and it was still daytime.

As if he had seen something extremely terrifying, Shi Bai's pupils suddenly contracted: "Blood Moon..."

The Blood Moon, which is said to appear only when Heaven punishes the dead, has never been reliably recorded to have appeared in thousands of years. Why would it suddenly and inexplicably appear today?

As if remembering something, Ye Chi suddenly snapped out of his thoughts and shouted, bringing the two who were still staring blankly at the blood moon back to their senses, "Master! Master hasn't come out yet!"

Upon hearing this, they all looked towards the dilapidated hut in the mountains. The hut was now shrouded in demonic energy, something they hadn't noticed at first, only realizing its unease now. Naturally, they dared not delay, rushing after Ye Chi towards the hut. Before they could even get close, the fragile wooden door was suddenly pushed open with great force, and a bloodied figure flew out, crashing into a tree trunk not far away.

Fresh blood suddenly splattered.

They glanced over instinctively and saw a man dressed in black lying dying beneath a tree, his blood staining the lush green grass. Looking to the other side, they saw Ya Feiyu standing there, his silver eyes gleaming with coldness. Blood, still damp on his pale face, trickled down his neck, which he carelessly wiped away. Noticing them, Ya Feiyu slowly looked over, the lingering killing intent in his eyes causing all three to tremble involuntarily.

But then Ya Feiyu spoke, and the chilling atmosphere lessened somewhat: "You've arrived."

Demonic energy swirled around Ya Feiyu. It turned out the demonic energy emanating from the wooden house didn't originate from the black-clad demonic cultivator, but rather from Ya Feiyu himself. Xu Miaomiao and Shi Bai dared not approach too closely. While they were worried, they weren't always by Ya Feiyu's side. Their feelings for their master were more of admiration and reverence, and they didn't have a precise understanding of Ya Feiyu's self-control. Only Ye Chi approached without suspicion, wiping the bloodstains from Ya Feiyu's body and gently asking, "Master, are you injured? Where does it hurt?"

Such a gentle tone drew the attention of the two men. Ya Feiyu noticed their gazes but did not hide them. She answered Ye Chi's question: "It's alright, just a superficial wound. There was no bleeding. This is that person's blood."

Ye Chi smiled: "It seems that I don't need to worry too much about Master."

Ya Feiyu raised an eyebrow, seemingly somewhat proud: "Of course."

After speaking, Ya Feiyu observed his surroundings, seemingly unsurprised by the changes in the outside world. However, when he caught sight of the eye-like crack in the sky, he frowned slightly and said, "The sky crack has appeared too."

The sky was split open, a blood moon shone, the sky was red, and a Kunpeng appeared on the horizon. All of this seemed to point to a bad development. The three disciples were discussing the situation in front, while Ya Feiyu habitually lagged behind. Beneath her long eyelashes were a pair of grayish-white eyes.

The story's development has exceeded Heaven's expectations. It seems that Heaven is finally going to bring the story back to normal.

Remembering his villainous identity, Ya Feiyu suddenly curled his lips in self-deprecation and sneered. He used to be full of passion and wanted to overthrow the Heavenly Dao, but now it seemed that this was nothing but a pipe dream. Now, let alone cultivation, he couldn't even squeeze out a trace of spiritual power from his body, so how could he talk about standing shoulder to shoulder with the Heavenly Dao?

In the new world after his rebirth, he had already eked out a living for far too long.

This almost made Ya Feiyu forget his original identity. He had gradually transformed from a carefree, aimless individual into a cowardly, mortal. This world was simply too wonderful. He had a disciple and lover who cared for him and stood by his side. Even though his status was not as high as before, life was far more hopeful than in his previous life. Now, the Heavenly Dao was going to take all this beauty back. Ya Feiyu wondered if it would also erase his own existence, turning this world into a completely identical parallel world, just like his previous one.

But just thinking about such an outcome fills me with a strong sense of resentment.

He thought, since he had been fighting against the will of Heaven for decades, what was wrong with resisting a little longer and living a little longer?

To the Heavenly Dao, this was merely a harmless story.

However, for the characters in the book, their fate is never the story written in black and white on paper!
