Chapter 116 Bring Him Back

Chapter 116 Bring Him Back

As night fell, Ye Chi sat on the grassland, gazing out at the boundless plains.

Without Ya Feiyu, to be honest, he knew how he should live. He had once visited the Qinglian Immortal Sect and seen Ya Feiyu's coffin. The ice crystal coffin was semi-transparent, allowing one to see the peaceful sleeping face of the deceased. Ye Chi lay on it, his gaze filled with longing. His dark eyes were slightly lowered as he intently watched the person inside. The book said that Ya Feiyu died of illness, but his face before death looked as if he were asleep. Ye Chi gently pressed his hand against the surface, tracing the contours of Ya Feiyu's cheek. His fingertips felt a chilling coldness, as if he were carefully feeling the body temperature of Ya Feiyu.

He stayed there for a long time, until dawn before leaving. For the next few days, he wandered around aimlessly.

It feels like I've returned to life in the real world.

He closed his eyes, trembling.

Ye Chi had lived with Ya Feiyu for so long that he had forgotten what loneliness felt like. Just when he had gotten used to having someone by his side, fate cruelly took him away again. Thinking of this, Ye Chi gave a self-deprecating laugh.

Just then, a strange wind swept past him, carrying a strange fragrance. Ye Chi glanced over quickly and saw a flaming hem of clothing suddenly enter his field of vision. Ye Chi's pupils contracted slightly, and before he could look up to see the person's face, he heard the other person speak before he could: "Brother Ye Chi, I've finally found you."

The newcomer was Yi Fengchun, Ya Feiyu's junior sister. It was a face Ye Chi hadn't seen in a long time, but her vibrant figure still made her instantly recognizable to Ye Chi. He composed himself slightly, yet a strange feeling crept into his heart. The records indicated Ya Feiyu's death occurred long before Yi Fengchun's encounter with them. According to the logic of this world, Yi Fengchun shouldn't know him, and even if she had heard of him, she wouldn't be... so overly familiar.

For some reason, a strange sense of anticipation rose within him. His throat tightened slightly, and he involuntarily swallowed, asking, "Why did you come to see me, Aunt?"

Yi Fengchun naturally lifted her robe and sat down not far from him. Her usually cheerful and bright face was now serious, and for a moment she even resembled Ya Feiyu. She stared at Ye Chi for a long time, as if looking through him at someone. After a while, she came back to her senses, her eyes flickered, and she said, "I always feel... something is strange."

"Strange?" Ye Chi's curiosity was piqued by her. "How should I put it?"

Yi Fengchun shook her head, as if trying to shake off the distracting thoughts in her mind. She sighed before slowly speaking, "I always feel that my senior brother's death is so incongruous."

“His health was indeed very poor since childhood, but cultivators don’t get sick so easily, let alone die from it. Most importantly…” At this point, she clenched her fists, her thin body trembling slightly. When she mentioned Ya Feiyu, her voice became filled with uncontrollable sorrow, “I once went to see my senior brother’s… corpse. He didn’t look like he died of illness.”

"It's like, just like, he was asleep..."

She looked down at her palms, which were red and raw from being pinched, a trace of confusion flashing in her dark eyes. She slowly said, "Lately, I keep dreaming about the same scene: a blood-red sky and moon, and rampant demonic energy..."

Ye Chi's heart skipped a beat. He seemed to have glimpsed a hard-won hope and suddenly became excited: "Is there a crack in the sky?"

His words snapped Yi Fengchun out of her reverie. Strangely enough, she and Ye Chi had never met before, yet after all that had happened, she instinctively sought him out, as if they were meant to be two intersecting lines forcibly separated. She pursed her lips, nodded slightly, and asked, "Do you know something?"

Ye Chi took a deep breath. Having lived in this world without Ya Feiyu for so long, he had never found anyone to confide in. He had been feeling suffocated for a long time. Yi Fengchun showed some memories of the previous world. He didn't know if it was a rare oversight under the strict laws of Heaven, but Ye Chi couldn't care less about that now.

“Yes, I know a lot, a lot.” He stared intently into Yi Fengchun’s eyes, his long-suppressed emotions surging within them. He omitted some details, recounting everything that had happened to her. The latter remained silent throughout, stunned, as if her worldview had been completely shattered. Only after Ye Chi finished speaking did she snap out of her daze, staring blankly at the dark sky. In a daze, she saw the scene from her dream, a scene straight out of hell.

She swallowed hard, averting her gaze as if electrocuted. While Ye Chi's words might not be entirely credible, they were, so far, the only explanation for all the strange phenomena. Yi Fengchun remained skeptical, not optimistic: "Even if what you say is true… since Heaven has already rewritten this entire storyline, we can't go back to the world we knew before, can we?"

Ye Chi felt as if he had been doused with cold water, and his heart, which had finally regained its warmth, began to cool down again. Yi Fengchun felt a little sorry for him when he saw him looking so dejected. He was about to say something to comfort him when Ye Chi suddenly perked up and said, "No, I have a way, I have a way."

"...What method?"

The Celestial Feather Clan possesses the ability to foresee the future and reverse time. If they so desire, they can travel to any corner of the world and to any era.

Although pure-blooded Tianyu people are rare in the world, and even Ya Feiyu's bloodline is no longer pure due to reincarnation, Ye Chi still knows someone who might be able to help him.

Thinking of this, he suddenly looked up at Yi Fengchun and said, "Could you take me to the Sea Palace?"

Although Yi Fengchun still looked bewildered, he didn't think Ye Chi was joking when he heard Ye Chi's confident tone. Thinking that this might be the only way to uncover the truth, he nodded slightly. The two of them didn't dare to delay and set off that night. The next day, as soon as the sun rose, they found their destination in the vast blue sea.

Freed from the influence of demonic energy, the Sea Palace appeared as a magnificent imperial city, with a completely different decor from the cultivation world. For Yi Fengchun, who had lived in the cultivation world for years and rarely ventured outside, it was truly novel. However, for Ye Chi, who was accustomed to this style of decoration in the modern world, it only evoked a sense of familiarity. Moreover, his purpose in coming here wasn't to admire the Sea Palace's beauty; without hesitation, he headed straight for the center of the imperial city.

By the time Yi Fengchun came to her senses, he had already disappeared into the crowd. She hurriedly tried to catch up, wanting to call Ye Chi to stop, but she couldn't keep up at all.

"I'm looking for someone!" Ye Chi shouted urgently at the guards blocking his way. His voice was trembling with anxiety. "I mean no harm, please believe me! I..."

The guard's resolute face was filled with coldness as he said in a chilling tone, "Without the permission of the Palace Master or the Young Palace Master, outsiders like you are not allowed to enter. No matter what the reason, it is all for everyone's safety. Please understand."

Seeing that he couldn't reason with people, Ye Chi took a few steps back in frustration. After the great calamity of the Sea Palace, Ya Feiyou was treated as a distinguished guest and arranged to live in the Sea Palace by the Palace Master Lloyd. Although Ya Feiyou was not one to easily get close to humans, she ultimately agreed to this choice in order to protect the Sea Palace.

Now, Ya Feiyou, who carries the phoenix's inner core containing Ya Feiyu, is the only person in the world who can save Ya Feiyu.

If he can only watch such an opportunity slip away before his eyes, then what face does he have to call himself Ya Feiyu's disciple?!

Ye Chi was secretly plotting how to sneak in without being discovered when a voice as cold as ice rang out, "Let him in."

"Holy Maiden?! This..." The guards exchanged bewildered glances. Hearing the sound, Ye Chi looked up and met a pair of silver eyes. For a moment, he thought Ya Feiyu was standing before him again. In his daze, the person gave him a faint smile, a smile that made him look quite different from Ya Feiyu.

"Let him in, he is my honored guest," Ya Feiyou said, her face regaining its icy expression as she faced the guards, exuding an air of authority. "Or are you planning to disobey the Holy Maiden's orders?"

This was a huge cauldron, and the guards immediately retreated, repeatedly saying they wouldn't dare, and were allowed to pass. Ya Feiyou welcomed Ye Chi and Yi Fengchun inside, and then walked towards her room.

Although Ye Chi was getting impatient, he remained silent out of courtesy until Ya Feiyou returned to her room. The room was decorated in a low-key style. She sat at the table, on which sat a crystal ball containing the entire starry sky, which made Ye Chi unable to look away.

“I know why you’ve come,” Ya Feiyou said with a faint smile, noticing his gaze. She gently stroked the smooth, round surface of the crystal ball and said slowly, “You’ve come for my family, haven’t you?”

“You can break through time and space, only you can save him,” Ye Chi couldn’t contain his excitement when he mentioned this. He had waited for so long, it felt like a lifetime had passed. His eyes reddened slightly as he spoke. “He shouldn’t have had to go through all this.”

Ya Feiyou still smiled, but a dark look flashed across her eyes beneath her eyelashes. She slowly stroked the crystal ball and said, "I can indeed tear through space and time, but only temporarily."

Finally, she stopped maintaining the faint smile on her lips, lowered her brows, and looked cold. "I can let you go to him, but I have only one request."

“Bring him back safe and sound.”
