Chapter Thirteen: When you see injustice on the road, fill it in!

Chapter Thirteen: When you see injustice on the road, fill it in!

The next morning, a light drizzle fell.

A torrential downpour occurred in the middle of the night, and the campfire that had been painstakingly lit was blown out in the latter half of the night. The rain continued into the morning, although it was not as heavy as last night, but thick fog had rolled in into the mountains, so for safety reasons, everyone decided to wait for the rain to stop before setting off.

The air was cool and humid, perfect weather for sleeping.

Normally, no one in the sect dares to slack off. Now that they've gone on a long trip and there's no strict requirement for cultivation, they've all sprawled out in a messy ball, using banana leaves as rough blankets and their outer robes as pillows.

Of course, Ya Feiyu doesn't sleep.

He leaned against the slightly damp stone wall, looking at Ye Chi beside him. This man was incredibly clingy when drunk, like a piece of chewing gum that couldn't be shaken off.

“…Hmm.” Just then, Ye Chi made a sound. Ya Feiyu froze and hurriedly looked away.

Fortunately, Ye Chi didn't notice anything amiss. His long eyelashes fluttered, and he instinctively braced himself against Ya Feiyu, sitting up. He was still somewhat dazed, not quite fully recovered, vaguely remembering falling asleep last night in a comforting fragrance, sleeping soundly...

He often dreams in the middle of the night and rarely sleeps so soundly.

……wrong.

A sudden thought flashed through his mind, and when he realized it, his body froze completely, and he didn't even dare to look to his side.

He apparently got drunk yesterday from eating too much fruit. And that's not all, he also apparently invited the main villain to climb a tree and admire the moon with him, and... and...

"Awake?" The voice of the villain he was thinking about came from beside him, startling Ye Chi. He froze on the spot like a cat being grabbed by the scruff of its neck and lifted up, too afraid to move.

Why did this embarrassing thing have to happen to him?!

He covered his face in grief, unable to shed a tear.

Ya Feiyu, oblivious to his emotions, said as if she didn't care about last night at all, "You should rest for a while. Generally speaking, people who are drunk will feel a bit unwell the next day."

Ye Chi: "..." This guy clearly still remembers.

He never expected that he would be so diligent in avoiding any socially awkward situations in modern times, and that he had never been socially awkward before. But his first socially awkward experience was after he transmigrated into the book.

How could he have known his alcohol tolerance was so low?

And why on earth would there be a fruit in the cultivation world that can make people drunk?!

He cursed the author in his heart, wondering why he had to put such a social death fruit in the novel.

After finishing her sentence, Ya Feiyu ignored him and sat up cross-legged, preparing to take advantage of the break to cultivate properly.

Ye Chi noticed his movement and, in order to cover up his embarrassment, changed the subject: "Master, what are you doing?"

Ya Feiyu lifted her eyelids and glanced at him: "Meditate."

"Meditation? Master, can you teach me?" Ye Chi immediately perked up upon hearing this. He had been quite interested in this aspect of the novel back then, but unfortunately, he was dragged out to undergo training right at the beginning of the story and has been busy all the way until now, so he hasn't had a chance to try it yet.

Since it was just teaching meditation, which wasn't difficult, Ya Feiyu agreed: "Okay."

Ye Chi was overjoyed and imitated Ya Feiyu's sitting posture in a very convincing way. He crossed his legs, placed his hands on his knees, closed his eyes and meditated for about three or four minutes, but unfortunately his body did not seem to change at all.

He opened his eyes with some disappointment: "Master, will this really work?"

Ya Feiyu shook his head and sighed, "Circulate your spiritual power."

Ye Chi: "...Master, how should I circulate my spiritual energy?"

Ya Feiyu: "..." I forgot that this kid hasn't even taken the most basic theory class yet.

Under Ye Chi's inquisitive gaze, Ya Feiyu cleared his throat, placed his hand on Ye Chi's back, and slowly infused a portion of spiritual energy into him. The cool energy circulated within his body, seemingly traveling along with his blood to his dantian. He hadn't yet formed his core, so it was naturally empty, devoid of anything, yet it was filled with spiritual energy, and that feeling of strength returned to him.

"Now, try to manipulate your spiritual energy." Ya Feiyu's voice came from the side. Ye Chi could almost feel his breath on his ear. To be fair, the villain's voice was indeed very pleasant, but his face was so stunning that it made people overlook this major feature. "Use your thoughts to control them."

"Imagine them going to all parts of your body, in the palm of your hand, at your disposal."

Following his words, Ye Chi closed his eyes, and scenes flashed through his mind. He imagined himself as a highly accomplished immortal, sitting in an inconspicuous corner of the Cloud Capital, with all things in the world resonating with him. In the next scene, he stood up, circulating his divine power, and spiritual energy condensed into a ball of light in his palm.

He felt his body gradually becoming lighter.

At this moment, all things in the world were blocked by his five senses. He could not hear the noise, feel the cold around him, or even feel the passage of time. It was as if time stood still and he entered a state of selflessness, empathizing with the plants and trees around him and smelling the fresh scent of the earth after the rain.

An unprecedented power was slowly growing within him.

One day, it will become powerful enough to tear everything apart.

...

Ye Chi opened his eyes again, feeling exceptionally refreshed.

It was as if he had finally recovered from a long-term illness, feeling energetic all over. From this moment on, it seemed that he had truly entered the realm of cultivators, finally crossing many thresholds and truly immersing himself in the absurd and bizarre world of this novel.

He immediately looked outside the cave. The rain had stopped, and the post-rain sun was not very strong, but it gently cast a layer of light.

Only then did he go to look for Ya Feiyu.

However, there was no need to search for him specifically; Ya Feiyu was sitting beside him, quietly with his eyes closed. Sensing the movement of the person beside him, he also opened his eyes sharply, looked at him, and said, "You have been meditating for two hours, and the rain has stopped."

Ye Chi nodded, looked down at his palms, and felt that his limbs were full of power... it was definitely not an illusion.

"This is cultivation of immortality."

Seemingly sensing his thoughts, Ya Feiyu said, "If you want to learn, I can teach you more."

Ye Chi looked over in surprise. In the original book's plot description, Ya Feiyu was clearly a selfish and self-serving individualist—

At that moment, he made eye contact with Ya Feiyu.

There was a hint of unfathomable emotion in those silvery-white eyes.

It didn't seem like something that Ya Feiyu should have, yet... she was very gentle.

If Ye Chi didn't know what bad things this person had done in the original story, he probably wouldn't have been on guard against him at all.

It's really... a face that could easily steal everyone's trust.

Ye Chi nodded blankly: "Yes, Master."

Ya Feiyu nodded in satisfaction: "Then go and wake them up. The rain has stopped; it's time to set off."

"Ah, yes, Master."

...

The group then continued their journey.

After crossing the mountain, there was another city. This small city was naturally not as prosperous as Jinyu City, but there were still quite a few people. The road was bustling with activity, mostly cultivators heading to Linglong Pavilion. The inns were full, and the group asked at three or four inns, but they were all full and there was nowhere to stay.

After asking for the fourth time without success, Ye Chi said dejectedly, "Why don't we just sleep on the street?"

Ya Feiyu bent his knuckles and tapped the boy's forehead lightly: "You have a bad temperament."

But with the sun blazing down, it would be a miracle to have any patience at all—Ye Chi silently complained in his heart, but he didn't dare say it out loud. On the surface, he pretended to be obedient and said, "I understand, Master. Your disciple will remember your teachings. So... does Master have a way to find a place to stay?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the boys involuntarily turned to look at him. Suddenly being stared at by so many eyes, Ya Feiyu felt like he was being pricked by needles: "..."

He said it nicely, but he actually had no clue what to do.

So he chose to remain silent.

The boys also fell silent: "..."

Unable to bear the awkwardness any longer, Ya Feiyu let the boys wander around on their own while he looked for a place to stay for the night. The boys, of course, had no objection to being able to slack off, and after Ya Feiyu left, they each went out to stroll the streets in groups.

However, Ye Chi had no interest in shopping, so he stood under the eaves to avoid the sun and waited for Ya Feiyu to return.

Just then, a commotion arose not far away. Ye Chi, who possessed an extremely keen radar for gossip, looked up alertly, his gaze falling on the arguing man and the boy not far away. The boy's pupils were very light in color, and he had ear feathers growing where his ears should have been, making him look less like an ordinary cultivator.

The burly man pointed at him and cursed, "I knew there wasn't a single good person among you demons! You even tried to kidnap my daughter? Guards, catch this demon!"

The boy with the ear feathers was speechless and surrounded by angry residents. He seemed even more helpless. His voice was not loud, but he tried to defend himself: "I didn't! Your daughter was lost, and I brought her back. How dare you make false accusations!"

The burly man, holding the little girl's hand, said, "Bullshit! I just asked my daughter, and she said you were the one who took her away. You still dare to deny it!"

"I don't!"

Ye Chi didn't have any particular hobbies related to chivalry, but he was curious about the young man, so he walked up to him, composed himself, and rushed forward with the expression of someone who had just saved his life, saying earnestly, "Hey? Long time no see, young man! You're the one who saved me back then, do you remember?"

For a moment, the boy's expression went blank: "I don't..."

Ye Chi continued, "Oh dear, that was really dangerous. If you hadn't saved me from the bear's jaws, I'd probably be a pile of bones by now."

"I didn't..."

"It's been so long, and you're still as fond of being a pushover as ever."

Upon seeing Ye Chi appear, the reputation of the young man with the ear feathers underwent a subtle change, and the onlookers, feeling bored, dispersed.

Seeing that no one was on his side anymore, the burly man glared fiercely at Ye Chi, the troublemaker, then stormed off with his daughter in his arms.

Well, thankfully, his acting skills are still acceptable.

Ye Chi was secretly pleased with himself.
