The new emperor naturally felt it as well: "I feel it too. I will ask the abbot after he finishes reciting the sutra."
"yes."
Three days passed in a blink of an eye. Abbot Xuankong finished chanting. He looked a little pale, but seemed to be in good spirits.
"Abbot, you have worked hard these days. I have already ordered people to prepare vegetarian meals. Please have some," the new emperor said politely.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
The new emperor dined with Abbot Xuankong: "Abbot, please eat more. If there is anything that does not suit your appetite, I will order someone to make it for you."
"Your Majesty, this is already quite a lot. I cannot eat much, so please don't waste it." Abbot Xuankong said politely.
"Okay, thank you for your hard work. But there is one thing I don't understand. Is the abbot going on a long journey?" the new emperor asked doubtfully.
Abbot Xuankong put down his chopsticks and said seriously, "I have long transcended life and death, and have been gaining enlightenment about life over the years. Now I don't have many days left in this world, so I want to do something for Your Majesty in these last days."
The new emperor's face was tense: "Time is running out, is it?"
Most monks can calculate their own destiny, and I think Abbot Xuankong is the same.
"Your Majesty guessed correctly. I failed to ascend to heaven before. Fortunately, the Regent Princess gave me some advice. In a few days, it will be the day of my ascension, so I came to repay the favor." Abbot Xuankong explained.
The new emperor was shocked: "Ye Xingchen is in Baoen Temple?"
"Yes, the princess went first, and then the Queen Regent."
The new emperor's lips curled up with a hint of indifference. He was indeed the emperor's uncle. It was said that he and Ye Xingchen had been inseparable since they got married. It turned out to be true.
"Since Xingchen said it, it must be true. I wish the abbot all his wishes come true." The new emperor sighed.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
Baoen Temple.
Cang Boyi has behaved very well these past few days. He has not asked for too much and has always respected Ye Xingchen's ideas.
Well, today is the third day, Cang Boyi and Ye Xingchen went for a stroll down the mountain and specially bought a love lock.
Ye Xingchen was a little surprised: "Does the Regent believe this?"
The so-called wish is nothing more than a beautiful hope in people's minds. As to whether it can be realized, that is unknown.
Cang Boyi held the love lock very preciously and said, "I never believed these things before, but since I met you, I believe them now.
Since this is a love lock, it means that you and I are of one mind and will be devoted to each other for the rest of our lives. So we should lock it together, so that it will come true."
Ye Xingchen didn't expect that Cang Boyi was so romantic.
"good."
The two people took a pen and wrote their names on the love lock, then held hands and went back to the mountain with the lock.
Su Ruoan and Zhan Bai were fed with dog food. Su Ruoan couldn't help but curl his lips: "If I hadn't been following you all the time, I would have suspected that our regent had been replaced by someone else."
"This is indeed very different from the cold-blooded, bloodthirsty and ruthless regent in daily life." Zhan Bai agreed.
"That's because the Regent met the Princess. Haven't you heard that when you meet someone you truly love, you will naturally change." Su Ruoan said with a look of understanding.
"That's right." The two of them went after the Regent.
Cang Boyi took Ye Xingchen to the edge of the cliff and hung their love lock at the highest position: "Xingchen, this is my feeling for you."
Ye Xingchen was very satisfied: "Received."
Cang Boyi walked over with a smile, stretched out his hand and hugged Ye Xingchen into his arms: "Then tonight, can we-------"
Ye Xingchen's cheeks instantly turned red: "This is a sacred place of Buddhism, you are not allowed to mess around."
"You are my wife, and I will love you all my life." Cang Boyi said with great grievance.
Ye Xingchen was a little speechless, but he also knew Cang Boyi's physical strength. He had been very honest for the past two days and it was indeed hard work.
"Just once." Ye Xingchen lowered his head shyly.
"Okay, I'll listen to you." Cang Boyi put his arm around Ye Xingchen's waist and used his light skills to take her back to the Zen temple in the back mountain.
It was two days later when Abbot Xuankong came back. He went back to Baoen Temple, gathered everyone together and made arrangements for his funeral arrangements.
The disciples in the temple were reluctant to leave, but they all understood that the abbot would make his arrangements when the time came.
Tomorrow will be the day when the abbot will ascend to heaven as Ye Xingchen said. Abbot Xuankong continues to meditate, and he is also looking forward to the arrival of tomorrow.
There was a knock on the door: "Abbot, have you rested?"
When Abbot Xuankong heard the voice of the host, he immediately let him in: "Come in, I haven't rested yet."
The host came in with a bowl of vegetarian soup and said, "Brother Abbot, tomorrow is the day you will ascend to heaven. I am here to congratulate you. This is the vegetarian soup that my disciples and I have spent more than an hour cooking. It is our farewell to you. Please have a taste."
Vegetarian soup is a farewell ritual at Bao'en Temple. Usually when someone ascends to heaven or passes away, or leaves Bao'en Temple forever, the monks of the temple will make this vegetarian soup to see that person off.
Abbot Xuankong didn't think much about it and took it: "Thank you very much, it's thoughtful."
"Abbot, drink it while it's hot. It won't taste good if it gets cold," the host advised.
"Okay." Abbot Xuankong raised his head and drank it.
It was not until he saw the abbot finish his bowl of vegetarian soup that a look of triumph and ruthlessness flashed across the host's eyes.
"After I am gone, you have to take care of the entire Bao'en Temple. The disciples must live in harmony with each other, have a broad mind, do more good deeds, and help others wherever you can. Bao'en Temple will be handed over to you from now on, and you have to take good care of the temple." Abbot Xuankong warned.
"Don't worry, Abbot. I will make Bao'en Temple better and better." The abbot promised.
"I feel at ease with you here. But don't be too hasty. You have to do things step by step and steadily."
"yes."
Abbot Xuankong gave a few more instructions and was about to say something when he suddenly felt a severe abdominal cramp. It was very uncomfortable and his whole face turned pale.
Just as Abbot Xuankong was about to speak, he suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, or to be exact, a mouthful of black blood. He looked at the host in shock and disbelief.
"It's you. You want to harm me. Why?" Abbot Xuankong looked incredulous.
The host saw that he was poisoned and stopped pretending: "Yes, it was me. You still dare to ask me why? Of course I can't let you ascend.
It is obvious that I have given my best efforts to Baoen Temple. I have taken care of the entire temple and done everything myself. What have you done?
You only stay in the temple for a few days a year and don't take care of anything, but the world only knows to worship you and respect you. Even the royal family treats you with courtesy. Why?
Obviously, all of this should be mine, but your existence makes everyone unable to see me. I am unwilling to accept this. Why can you ascend to heaven, but I can't? So, how can I let you get what you want?"
Abbot Xuankong couldn't believe his ears. He never thought that the abbot actually hated him so much: "You attacked me just because of your selfishness. I saved you from dying in the snow, brought you back to Bao'en Temple, taught you Buddhism and chanted scriptures, and made you the abbot?"
