Bi Xie's mind was hazy. She was afraid that she would fall asleep again like before while being branded. She didn't hear what Zang was saying. Suddenly, she reached under the soft pillow, pulled out a dagger, and cut her arm.
The sweet smell of blood made Zang pause, his blood-red eyes brightened, and he stared intently at her.
“Zang, didn’t you say my blood is very rare? It’ll help your Blood Sword Technique. Drink some.” Bi Xie brought his dripping arm to the man’s lips, his big eyes shining like stars about to fall.
In an instant, something made a "bang".
Bi Xie stared blankly at Zang's chest, his hand hesitantly pressing on something, the pounding of his heart growing louder with each beat.
"Zang, your heart... it's beating, it's beating!" Bi Xie exclaimed excitedly, almost incoherently. "Your heart can beat, does that mean Zang will have body temperature like humans in the future? Zang, I'm so happy!"
Bi Xie smiled, his eyes narrowing into crescent moons. He was about to press his head against the man's chest to listen to his heartbeat when the man flipped him over and pressed him down.
The man braced his arms on either side of her, his scarlet eyes fixed on Bi Xie's still-bleeding arms with heartache. He reverently raised his arm and gently licked away Bi Xie's blood with his cool, soft tongue, but did not suck it.
Only after seeing the wound completely healed did his gaze calm down. "Xie Xie is afraid of pain..."
Bi Xie's steely, straightforward heart suddenly melted as if it had been soaked in sugar water, leaving her feeling incredibly warm.
Her eyes suddenly reddened. Afraid that her voice would alert the man, she pursed her lips and remained silent.
With a spin, Bi Xie was lifted onto the man's lap, his arms wrapped around the back of her head and pressed against his chest.
There, the heartbeat was like a drumbeat, very fast.
"As long as the evil spirit is there, it will jump."
Bi Xie looked up and met those blood-red eyes that blazed like crimson flames. In an instant, her heart pounded faster and faster, as if a hailstorm had struck.
"Xie Xie must be good this time. Stay in the black coffin and don't come out. Mayas will prepare food for Xie Xie. Xie Xie must wait for me to come back."
Zang repeated his anxious words over and over again, and Bi Xie patiently told him, "Yes, Zang must also be safe and sound. We will be together for a very long time."
“Evil.”
"Um."
"Evil treasure."
"Um."
"Little Evil".
"Um."
"Xie Xie, when I return from the battlefield, I'll tell you a secret, okay?"
"Um."
"What secret is it that you don't ask about?"
Bi Xie did not respond again. His nostrils flared slightly, and his breathing was even. He had already fallen asleep.
The next day, Zang led many vampires to the battlefield, leaving half of the Ghost Realm empty.
After eating breakfast, Bi Xie began sewing and mending. She didn't have much time left. Regardless of whether she could leave this messed-up world smoothly, she wanted to leave a bit of warmth for Zang.
Bi Xie's mother was a very virtuous mother. When Bi Xie was little, all the sweaters she wore were sewn by her mother stitch by stitch. Perhaps she inherited her mother's talent for knitting, because the first scarf she made with yarn was very beautiful.
"Was this made for its owner?" Mayas asked, watching the rag doll gradually take shape under the needle and thread.
Bi Xie grinned: "Yeah, I think Zang especially likes to sleep while hugging something, so from now on I..."
The conversation abruptly ended, and under Mayas's questioning gaze, Bi Xie subtly changed the subject, "Mayas, how long have you been following Zang? Can you tell me something about Zang?"
