Chapter 127
Although she was hiding with Eugene, Lena was still very agitated. She should have sneaked out to help Rick and the others; it was obvious how much pressure they were under. However, if she went out, she would have to face one thing: gather a group of people with the goal of killing Negan.
She has always acted in a linear fashion, with the overall goal of saving everyone and enabling them to live together in harmony. Then, she changes the plot as each individual encounters it, and so far, nothing major has happened. At least, she has saved everyone she was supposed to save.
Of course, there were also people she couldn't save. She wouldn't consider herself an omnipotent savior. After the sadness, she had to keep looking forward.
She was certain that no one she cared about would die in this war, but just in case, she would try to get involved. She didn't want anything to happen to Rick and the others, nor did she want anything to happen to Negan.
As the plot unfolds, Karl is in danger, but she doesn't remember when Karl's incident happened. She only knows that he met someone outside who wanted to take him back to Alexandria, and that's when the incident occurred.
She should stay by Karl's side, but if she dared to run back to Alexandria, Negan would definitely use it as an excuse to cause trouble, so she dared not go back.
Should I agree to Negan and take over Alexander?
Lina was also worried that this would make things even more inconvenient for Rick and his gang, and besides, she really had no interest in leading a bunch of scumbags on a robbery.
I'm so frustrated; there's always something to worry about.
However, Lina was eventually captivated by the soft and clean bed and drifted off to sleep.
In any case, Negan's life imprisonment must be carried out.
Eugene glared at Lina with resentment. She just fell asleep like that? His room, his bed—she was so mean!
Clutching the pickled cucumber with a pitiful expression, Eugene huddled in the tiny sofa, barely managing to fall asleep, looking like a chubby orange cat crammed into the smallest cat bed.
The next morning, Lina was woken up by the smell of fried eggs. Eugene certainly had good treatment; there was even a refrigerator in the room! And it was filled with fresh eggs and vegetables!
Lina sat up abruptly. "Give me five fried eggs first."
Eugene, who was frying eggs, was startled. "Can you please not scare people like that?"
"Then you should really work on your courage." Lina jumped out of bed, wrapped herself in a blanket, and sat on the sofa. "Hurry up! I'm starving!"
"..." Eugene felt that he was very unlucky. He was doing well, but after Lina came, his life seemed to become difficult.
Lena devoured the five fried eggs like a vacuum cleaner in no time. Just as she finished breakfast, there was a knock on the door. Eugene jumped in fright, and Lena kicked him, saying, "Go open the door."
Eugene shrank back and went to open the door. Negan was outside, or rather, carrying Lucille outside.
Eugene was even more frightened.
Negan seemed to be in a good mood. He swaggered in, glanced at Lena eating a fried egg, then looked at Eugene. "I hope you enjoy life here, and what we talked about before..."
Eugene didn't give Negan a chance to speak, and like a machine gun, he said a lot in one breath, "I am Negan, I am one hundred percent, completely, thoroughly Negan, I have been Negan since birth, I am honored to be Negan, I am proud of it."
"..." Lina put down Eugene's plate and looked at Eugene with a complicated expression, thinking how pathetic he was!
Negan was stunned. "Well, Dr. Clever," he raised an eyebrow at Lina, "see? I love this kind of clever little brain."
"What, are you going to marry him too?" Lina wiped the grease from the corner of her mouth and rolled her eyes.
“…Do you believe I’ll spank your ass until it’s rotten?” Negan smiled broadly.
"Do you believe I'll pluck all your hair out?" Lina retorted defiantly.
“…” Negan snorted coldly. He glanced at Eugene, who looked frightened and shocked.
Negan grabbed Lena and said, "My patience is limited. I've been too lenient with you."
Lena slapped Negan's hand away. "Don't pull me like that. Men and women shouldn't touch each other."
Enraged, Negan kicked Lena in the backside, sending her stumbling towards the door. "Dwight!" he yelled, "Throw her out..." Negan's voice trailed off as he glared at Lena, "Throw her back into the room!"
Lena dusted herself off, made a face at Negan, and was dragged away by Dwight.
Negan felt extremely frustrated, but he was also very distressed. Fortunately, none of this was happening in public. However, if Lena continued like this, he would have no choice but to deal with her. As he had always said, rules are rules, and he couldn't always show leniency towards Lena, as it would be detrimental to his rule.
“In my experience,” Eugene suddenly said tentatively, “none of them have been able to get Lina to listen to them; she only ever listens to herself.”
“No, that’s not necessarily true,” Negan said, glancing at Eugene. “What about you? Do you have any good ideas?”
Eugene glanced nervously at Negan. "You can send her to clean up the walkers. She won't have time to argue with anyone when she's facing death. Besides, she's really strong."
"That's it?" Negan was unconcerned, even somewhat disdainful. Send her out? He'd just turn around and leave her there.
“…She cares about Alexander, and Alexander has been under a lot of pressure lately about paying tribute,” Eugene said hesitantly.
"Is that so?" Negan glanced at Eugene with a half-smile, and Eugene lowered his head guiltily.
He didn't actually like this kind of opportunist, Negan scoffed inwardly, but didn't show it on his face. He even patted Eugene on the shoulder happily, "Well done, I see your sincerity."
Lena was unaware that Eugene was constantly giving Negan bad advice. Dwight dragged her upstairs, where he quietly asked her why she hadn't left with Daryl.
Sherry let Daryl go and even left him a map. Daryl should definitely go and take Lina with him.
His wife had already run away, and now Dwight, the traitor, could be trusted. Lena glanced at him and said, "After I leave, Negan will go straight to Alexandria."
"What exactly is your relationship?" Dwight couldn't help but ask, he had never seen Negan act so strangely before.
“It’s just a neighborly relationship,” Lena didn’t hide anything. She looked at Dwight for a long time. “Eugene is too cowardly. Don’t talk to him. If you go out and find them, you can tell them about me. At least it will save you from getting beaten up.”
Dwight paused for a moment, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"When you killed the doctor, didn't you know what you were going to do?" Lina said.
“…I didn’t,” Dwight retorted instinctively, looking at Lena with a complicated expression. She was indeed somewhat important to Negan, perhaps…
“Stop,” Lina rolled her eyes at Dwight helplessly. “He’s just a neighbor after all. Don’t take me too seriously. If you use me to threaten him, you’ll be in big trouble.”
Dwight silently pursed his lips; indeed, he didn't want to resort to such a risky method unless absolutely necessary.
He didn't believe that someone like Negan would genuinely care about others.
“Go find Rick. You’d better avoid Daryl; he’ll definitely want to beat you to death. Rick, at least, won’t beat you half to death before he’ll listen to you,” Lina said.
"...How can you be so sure of my intentions?" Dwight frowned, though he didn't think he had revealed anything.
"Because I can tell fortunes, and perform mysterious Eastern magic." Lina gave a fake smile, then arrived at the room she was heading to.
The two stopped talking, and Dwight locked the door and left.
Lina sat in her familiar room, continuing to ponder what to do about Karl.
Before she could come up with a solution, a sound came from the doorway, and the door was pried open. Sean sneaked in furtively.
"..." Lina stared at him with a strange look in her eyes. Was this something the police would do?
Sean closed the door and turned to look at Lena. He said calmly, "Look, I've gotten Daryl out of here, to a safe place."
Lina's gaze became even more strange. Did they really think she was stupid?
Sean had actually arranged for someone to take Daryl away, but his men left empty-handed. That didn't matter, though. Knowing Dixon as he did, he wouldn't leave Lena Lee alone here. It just meant the two of them hadn't clashed, and he had to leave first.
Lina would never know his whereabouts; she could still be fooled.
"...Where did you send him?" Lina thought for a moment and decided to play along with Sean's script. She read online that when you meet someone who isn't very bright, you should just agree with them and not argue with an idiot.
“A safe place,” Sean said without a hint of guilt, looking at Lena, “Judith.”
Lena raised an eyebrow, sizing up Sean, wondering where the kid had gotten that information.
“He told me,” actually Sean went to Alexandria himself and saw Negan holding a girl and Carl in the distance. He thought it must be his daughter. As for her name, he heard it from the Salvation Army in Alexandria and asked around.
“…Oh.” Lina’s lips pressed into a straight line as she tried hard not to laugh.
Seeing Lina's terrible mood, Sean felt much better. In any case, as long as he could control Lina, that was fine. He also had others looking for Daryl outside. If they found him, they would arrest him, or kill him if they could.
As long as he doesn't show up in Alexandria.
“I’ll find a chance to get you out of here,” Sean said quickly. “Then you give me Judith first.” He wanted to hide Judith first, and then find a chance to kill Negan with them.
If you can't kill him, run away as soon as possible.
“…Then you should find an opportunity first,” Lina said after a moment of silence, she was really trying hard to suppress her laughter.
“Don’t worry, it will be ready soon.” This is why Sean decided to take his daughter away first. Rick, even after so long, is still terrifyingly naive.
He had initially thought Rick could defeat Negan, but now it seemed that trusting others was less reliable than trusting himself.
