Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Lina had fallen asleep early, and Daryl didn't disturb her. The two huddled together by the car, and Carol brought some food, though not much.

Moore ate Lina's portion without any hesitation, since she looked like she was sleeping like a log.

"Are you sure you don't want to come over and sit for a while?" Carol looked at Moore and Daryl helplessly.

Daryl raised an eyebrow at Lina in his arms, indicating that he couldn't move freely at the moment.

Carol looked at Lina, who was sleeping relatively peacefully, and shook her head with heartache. "She's too tired." She's not much older than Sophia, but she's been through so much.

“Rick led us further than we thought, but Sean couldn’t,” Carol said, glancing at Moore and the others with a gentle smile. “I’m going now, what about you?” she asked Moore.

Moore felt a little uncomfortable, but he jumped out of the car without hesitation. He didn't want to listen to these two mushy guys; they were disgusting.

How could this damn world have made his brother so innocent and naive? I can't stand it.

Moore's attitude towards women revolves around whether they are sexually active, sexually inactive, sexually inactive, sexually active, or sexually acceptable.

I really can't stand it.

Moore followed Carol over, and Amy and Andrea shifted their positions to make room for Moore. Although Moore felt a little uncomfortable, he sat down anyway.

He's been rather quiet lately. He knows all too well that if he wants to stay here, he has to make changes, even though he doesn't want to.

But Daryl wanted to stay; Daryl wanted to be with this group. He had to try; he had to find his own role in this team.

And this opportunity came quickly; Rick was preparing to take down the prison the next day.

Moore couldn't help but start to scrutinize this 'friendly police officer.' He was maturing quickly and making bold decisions.

“I’ll do it with you,” Moore declared first, without Rick needing to offer any further encouragement. He knew the prison well, and Rick was right; it was a treasure trove.

"God, damn it, who would have thought old Moore would be so eager to get himself arrested? It's unbelievable," Moore muttered.

Once people become complacent, they unconsciously want to stop, always thinking, "I can just make do." Not everyone has the ability to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances, but in fact, there are reasons why everyone has been working hard for a long time.

Apart from Moore, few were willing to go inside. They wanted to rest, and the unknown and the danger inside naturally made them want to retreat.

Anyway, they are safe now.

However, Rick wasn't really discussing things with them. He gave a brief summary and left, seemingly wanting to continue his patrol.

Moore glanced at Daryl from afar; Daryl's expression seemed to ask him what had happened.

Moore stood up and patted his backside.

"Where are you going?" Amy asked Moore.

"Pee," Moore said casually, pursing his lips. "What? With me?"

Amy looked embarrassed; she was a little traumatized by this statement.

Andrea glared at Moore. "Go by yourself."

Moore swayed over and sat down next to Dallie. "Your arm will be so numb tomorrow that you won't be able to lift a knife," Moore said unhappily, glancing at Lina in her arms.

“Don’t treat me like a coward,” Daryl said unhappily.

“Hmph, you idiot,” Moore cursed. “We’re going inside tomorrow.” Moore looked toward the prison gate.

"Were you just talking about this?" Daryl asked casually, stroking Lina's hair.

“What else? That blonde and Glenn’s girl sang a song, too bad you missed it,” Moore said.

“Moore,” Daryl suddenly turned to look at him.

"What?" Moore felt his gaze, but didn't turn around; he was still thinking about tomorrow.

“I don’t need you to do anything, I just want my brother by my side,” Daryl said.

“…Get lost.” Moore said somewhat awkwardly, seemingly startled. He stood up and walked away in a somewhat embarrassed manner.

This damned world really did turn Daryl into Dalia.

It's a ghost story.

Lina and Daryl had cleared out a lot of the walkers inside the gate last night, making it much easier for everyone to go in.

Rick led the way, followed by Daryl and Moore on the left and right, then Lena, T-boy, Glenn, Maggie, and Jimmy.

Everyone was on edge. T spotted a riot shield and broke formation. Rick shouted nervously.

Fortunately, he got the shield and nothing unexpected happened.

After taking only a couple of steps, Rick nervously pressed himself against the wall, signaling everyone to be quiet, because there was another door behind them, and inside were walkers.

Lina frowned. The walkers there needed to be cleared out as soon as possible; they were too dangerous.

Worse still, several prison guard zombies, fully equipped, appeared in the distance.

Daryl's crossbow bolts were useless against the four prison guard zombies, and then a fifth one appeared from the door that had just been opened.

Damn it.

Lina looked at the door, realizing she had to close it first. Just as she was about to run over, Rick and Daryl had already charged in.

They locked the door, but the zombie guards were a deadly threat.

With Maggie's powerful strike, they found a solution: stab from under the helmet.

For Lina, this discovery was irrelevant; her knife was incredibly sharp, capable of piercing even this helmet with a single blow.

Glenn was about to lead everyone in when Rick stopped him. "This yard looks safe," Glenn said.

“That yard over there isn’t safe,” Daryl said, pointing.

“That was a civilian,” Moore said, pointing to a zombie on the ground.

“So the prison is probably full of zombies,” T said.

This has caused everyone to start worrying.

“We can’t have any blind spots, we have to keep going,” Rick said, and together they walked to the other side, opened the iron gate, and went inside.

The rest of the journey went surprisingly smoothly. They found the prison guard who had committed suicide and even got the key. The empty cell saved them a lot of trouble.

Inside, there were a few walkers in the locked cells, but most of them were clean and not in large groups, which was great.

After clearing out the few walkers, Rick had Glenn and the others bring the rest in.

"What do you think?" Rick asked, looking at the group that had entered.

“It’s so good to be home,” Glenn said.

Although I have to live in a cell, it feels safe now.

While studying the cell blocks, Lina also saw a little episode between Rick and Lori. It's really a headache. You don't treat them well now, but you go crazy when they die.

Love, oh love, it's such a headache.

Lena shook her head and happily ran to find Daryl. He said he didn't want to sleep in the cage, so he and Moore ran up to the platform.

"Are you sure you want to sleep here?" Lina looked around. Wouldn't anyone be able to see him if they walked by?

“Anyway, I don’t live in a cage,” Daryl insisted, looking like a little child.

“Whatever,” Lina said, glancing around before choosing the cell facing the platform. “Give me the key,” Lina shouted at Daryl.

"What are you doing?" Daryl asked as he unlocked the door. "Locking the door at night? What else could you be doing?" With a key, you can just reach out from the inside and open this kind of door.

“It’s more like a cage now,” Daryl muttered, but he knew Lina’s little quirks and guessed it would make her feel safe.

Moore looked at Daryl with disappointment and frustration. He punched Daryl and ran to the innermost cell on the second floor, where at least no one would pass by.

He doesn't care about going to jail; it's not like he's never been before.

Daryl clutched his chest, looking at the departing Moore with a puzzled expression. "What's wrong with you?"

Lina rolled her eyes. Sometimes Daryl really does like to do stupid things.

"Are you sure you don't want to live with me?" Lina stopped tidying up and looked at Daryl while propping herself up on the bed.

Daryl paused for a moment, then awkwardly turned his head away. "No,"

"Hmph," Lina snorted, "Don't even think about me asking you out next time."

Daryl coughed awkwardly. "I'll go check the watchtower outside."

Lina glanced at Daryl sideways, "That's rare~"

“Shut up,” Daryl said angrily as he left, while Lina laughed wildly.

"Hey, what are you laughing at?" Even Glenn downstairs couldn't help but ask loudly.

"It's okay, go kiss your girlfriend, don't ask so many questions," Lina said playfully.

“…What? Daryl won’t let you kiss him?” Maggie retorted defiantly when she saw Glenn being rebuffed.

Daryl, who was passing by, glared at Glenn, who helplessly shrugged.

“Don’t tease my shy boy,” Lina said in a good mood.

Everyone burst into laughter. Daryl's ears turned red, but luckily his hair was long enough. He glared at everyone and quickened his pace. He was really fed up with Lena.

After tidying up the surroundings, everyone lay down and could finally rest in peace. This place was much better than they had imagined. Lina walked to the second-floor corridor and saw Rick leaning wearily against the wall on the first floor and slowly sitting down. He looked exhausted.

Lena quietly bypassed Rick and tiptoed out.

Rick rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on, as if his teenage daughter was sneaking out to meet her boyfriend.

"Be careful, I mean, be careful," Rick whispered.

Lina rolled her eyes. "Okay, Pa—" She then tiptoed out.

Leaving her cell, Lina first went to the courtyard that had just been locked. With the courtyard full of zombies, she couldn't sleep.

Through the barbed wire fence, Lina kept poking at the zombie's head; the more zombies died, the safer T-boy would be.

Daryl, having finished cleaning up the watchtower, was about to head back when he saw Lina clearing out walkers in front of the iron gate, which surprised him.

“Aren’t you tired?” Daryl glanced at Lina. “We can clean this up later.”

“No, it’s not safe,” Lina insisted. “At least I’ll feel more at ease if we get rid of these things in the yard.”

Daryl didn't say anything, but pulled out his dagger and silently started fighting with Lina. He figured he had to deal with them sooner or later anyway, and he wasn't tired yet.

"Here you go," Lina said, pulling a lollipop from her pocket.

“I’m not eating it, you can eat it yourself,” Daryl said, glancing at it. Grape flavor was her favorite.

Lena glanced at Daryl, opened the lollipop, popped it into her mouth and chewed it up, then pulled Daryl over and kissed him.

Half for each person, that's fair.

Daryl, with a candy in his mouth, looked at Lina helplessly. "The watchtower is fairly clean."

Lina chuckled. "No, I told you not to think about asking me out again." Lina whistled happily as she continued clearing the walkers.
