Chapter 38
“Looks like a nice day,” Lina stretched as she stood at the doorway, then she opened the prison gate. The walkers surrounding the prison heard the noise and slowly walked towards her.
Lina didn't kill them; these little things had their uses.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to bring in more.
Lina threw the meat Daryl had prepared into the yard one by one. After she finished, she went around to the woods and hid.
Although she wanted to participate in the battle, this time her assigned task was protection.
To paraphrase Mor's cheeky words, this fulfilled Lina's wish to take a sneak shot from the woods.
Lina and Carl were both angry, their faces dark with resentment as they stared in the direction of the prison.
Don't be fooled by Moore's sweet talk about fulfilling her wish to shoot a sniper; in reality, Lina is completely incapable of firing a gun!
Look at the people behind her: Herschel, Patricia, Beth, Sophia, Dwayne, Carl, and Judith in the car.
She dared not make any rash moves. The old were old and the young were young. If she failed to kill them with one blow and instead exposed their location, her reckless actions would only kill them.
Those bastards really got her figured out!
Lina sullenly stuffed two lollipops into her mouth, feeling extremely unhappy; she needed double the happiness.
After a long, long time, Lina seemed to hear the sound of a car. Herschel glanced at Lina and gestured for the children to hide. Everyone lay almost on the ground to minimize their presence.
Lina took out her sniper rifle, but there wasn't a suitable spot for sniping, so she propped it up slightly on the ground with some stones and looked into the prison.
The bandits brazenly stormed into the prison, their heavy machine guns firing indiscriminately, quickly destroying the guard tower.
Not confronting them head-on was the right decision.
Lena tried to aim at the governor's head, but things are always easier said than done; she didn't have any special marksmanship skills.
Lena regretfully lowered her gun. As they fled, Lena glanced at the car beside her. Chasing after them was not a wise decision, but if she didn't, she would miss her best opportunity.
It's a shame she could get her hands on an RPG too. Daryl has such strangely good luck.
Lina angrily chewed up the lollipop in her mouth, flicking it around with her tongue and making a crackling sound.
A moment later, Lina watched as the group violently pulled open the iron gate of the prison and rushed inside. She watched with schadenfreude as the governor disappeared from sight. Why didn't he die in there? Truly, a scourge lives on.
Seeing what seemed like a familiar figure, Lina raised her gun. Through the scope, she saw Daryl and Mor sneak past. Those guys were adorably naive; they just dumped their heavy weapons into the car and drove off.
Hearing the piercing alarm bells ringing from the prison, followed by continuous, chaotic gunfire, Lina readied her gun again. The group of people scattered in panic, covering their heads. Lina harbored no ill will towards these fools who had been deceived; she simply kept searching for the governor's head.
Bad guys always seem to have incredible luck; he was blocked by a car, and Lina couldn't get a good shot.
Seeing the two cars drive away one after the other, Lina picked up her gun and wanted to drive after them.
"Where are you going?" Sofia grabbed Lina's arm. "There are still many of them!"
Lina was anxious to get into the car. "I won't take any risks, Sophia, listen to me."
"You'd better listen to me," Herschel snapped. Just as Lina was desperately trying to break free, a rustling sound came from the surrounding woods, and a boy appeared before them. Lina was now completely trapped and had no way to escape. She raised her gun and looked at the boy.
"Don't shoot!" the boy said nervously.
"Put down the gun, son," Herschel said warily, releasing the safety.
Lina suddenly remembered the plot.
“Okay, here you go…” The boy nervously tried to hand the gun to Karl, who was closer to him and not very old.
Lina immediately used her rifle to lift Karl's arm, and his shot missed.
The boy opposite them fell to the ground in terror, pointing his gun at them, shouting, "Don't move!"
He looked at Karl as if he were looking at a monster.
Karl pursed his lips and turned to look at Lina with displeasure.
Lina glared at him, pulled him behind her, and then looked at the boy, "Put the gun down."
The boy hesitated, looking at Lina. He no longer dared to trust these people. "Let me leave," he said, nervously holding up his gun.
Lina thought for a moment and looked at Herschel, who nodded.
"Let's go, don't even think about trying anything funny," Lina threatened.
The boy nervously held his gun, backing away and watching Lina and the others warily. Once he was far enough away, he turned and ran without looking back.
Lina turned to Karl with her hands on her hips. "Young man, what's wrong with you?"
Carl looked at Lina unhappily, but didn't say anything.
"Forget it, your dad will deal with you," Lina is not someone who can take care of children. Asking her to give the child a moral lesson? Don't be ridiculous.
Lena looked at the car in the woods, unwilling to give up. Herschel looked at Lena helplessly and then shook his head.
Lina turned her head away angrily. Wait, what did Moore say again?
Lina's eyes lit up. "I'll go check the surroundings. You guys be careful on your way back."
Although Herschel was still somewhat worried, considering that Lena couldn't just wander around without a car and that she was capable of protecting herself in the forest, and after stopping so many people, he couldn't be so heartless now.
"Don't go too far, be careful," Herschel warned worriedly.
Lina suppressed her joy, nodded without changing her expression, picked up her gun, and ran away.
Hehe, she knows where Moore hid his car.
It wasn't a very long distance, and just as Lina was getting close, she heard a faint cry for help.
Lina frowned, but still ran towards the sound. The first thing she saw was a green sedan, followed by a boy whose leg was caught in a trap next to the car.
That's the one they just let go.
Unfortunately, despite Lina's swift running, she was too late; the walker had already bitten her neck.
Lina drew her dagger, took down two walkers, and then ended the boy's suffering with a gun.
After she finished, she kicked the animal trap on the boy's foot. "That Moore is really ruthless."
You could say this kid has a bit of bad luck on him.
Lina opened the car door and sped off.

"Is everyone alright?" Rick asked worriedly, looking at the returning people.
“It’s alright,” Beth smiled and carried Judith inside.
"Where's Lina?" Daryl looked around but couldn't find her, and a bad feeling crept into his heart.
“She said she’d check the surroundings and be right back,” Herschel said.
"Screw it!" Daryl cursed, glared at Moore, grabbed his weapon, and headed out.
“Hey! What are you hiding from me?” Rick immediately sensed something was wrong and grabbed Daryl.
“Moore has arranged for a car outside just in case. Lina knows where it is; she’s probably gone after the governor,” Daryl said.
Rick took a deep breath, suppressing his anger. "Get the stuff."
Moore muttered to himself, "On the bright side, what if she just got her leg caught in a trap and is still in the woods?"
It would have been better if he hadn't spoken, but once he started talking, Daryl really wanted to punch Moore.
No one paid any attention to Moore. Rick and Daryl rushed to the parking spot, only to find a recently deceased boy and two walkers. The car was gone. Lina had indeed gone to hunt down the governor.
“We need to hurry.” Rick patted Daryl on the shoulder, and the two ran back to the prison, where Glenn and Moore waited in their car.
"Let's go, we have to catch up." Rick didn't say much, just quickly got into the car.
Daryl frowned, his leg shaking uncontrollably from intense unease.
"Lina's driving is terrible, we'll definitely catch up," Glenn said as he drove, offering a meager consolation.
“You Asians are all the same,” Moore retorted.
“Hey!” Glenn protested, clearly dissatisfied.
"Watch where you're going," Rick said, stopping the pointless fighting.
"Hey! I see my car!" Moore suddenly shouted, and Glenn panicked, swerving in the middle of the road.
Everyone groaned, dizzy and disoriented. "I'll remember to wear my seatbelt next time," even Rick couldn't help but complain.
Glenn gave an awkward smile. He was doomed; he couldn't clear his name now.
Fortunately, the car stopped, and Daryl pushed open the door and rushed out.
“She went down by herself,” Daryl said after glancing at her.
“Get in the car and keep going,” Rick said.
"Why did she get out of the car?" Glenn was puzzled. The only car nearby was the one Lina had left behind, and he didn't see the governor's group's cars either. Why did she suddenly stop?
When they got to the front, they realized what had happened: two cars were stopped in the middle of the road, surrounded by corpses and zombies.
“It’s their car, and there are people inside,” Moore said.
After quickly clearing away the walkers around him, Daryl opened the door of the military truck. A woman stepped out, her hands trembling as she raised them. Daryl looked into the truck; only this woman was inside.
There was no one else, not even Lina.
“Where’s the girl? Where is she?” Daryl asked, holding the woman.
“She, she caught up with them,” Karen said fearfully. The governor had suddenly attacked and killed them all. She had almost thought she was going to die too, but then she realized the governor’s gun was out of bullets.
Then she heard another burst of gunfire. She peeked over and saw two cars speeding away.
“Take us to Woodbury,” Rick said to Karen.
Karen nodded fearfully. The governor had gone mad; she was going back to expose him.
As for what happens next, we'll see.
On the other end, Lina kicked the broken car in frustration, helplessly watching the damned governor escape right under her nose.
Lina raised her gun and angrily fired at the car in front of her, but the distance was too great and she missed the tires.
Lina threw down her gun and angrily slammed her fist on the hood of the car.
Give her an RPG, you bastard! RPG! RPG!
Lina, consumed by impotent rage, glanced at the zombies that had been attracted to her and reluctantly got into the car for the time being.
That damn one-eyed cockroach.
After resting for a while, Lina glanced at the ever-growing number of walkers surrounding her, sighed, and decided it was time to leave.
Slowly opening the car window to leave a gap, Lina cleared a path with each slash. It was getting late, and Lina glanced around; she needed to find a place to stay first.
