Chapter 103

Chapter 103

“You two have a really good relationship,” Abraham said as he walked over and helped Lina lift the steel plate. Lina pouted. “Of course, you scumbag.”

Abraham was taken aback. "...Not everyone is as lucky as you two," Abraham said with a hint of helplessness.

"Then you're a jerk too." Lina turned around and made a face at Abraham. "I don't know what they like about you? I support them being together."

Abraham burst into laughter.

For some inexplicable reason, Lina gave Abraham a disdainful look before continuing her hard work. It was really tough for her; she had even developed abs during this time.

I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but it's so tiring! Fortunately, the expansion project will be finished in less than three days, and Lina won't be involved in the rest of the work.

I wonder how many days it will take Daryl to return this time? Will he run into the Salvation Army again?

Before the Battle of Alexandria, Lena was indeed angry with Rick, and of course, she was also angry with Daryl, who always supported Rick's decisions, even though he himself was not necessarily satisfied with them.

So for a long time before the plan began, Lina ignored the two of them. But after that night, after such a thrilling and long day, everyone was emotional and emotional. Rick and Michonne visibly progressed their relationship, and Carl seemed to be very accepting of it.

Lina and Daryl also inexplicably 'made up'.

It was mainly Daryl's fault. Lena very confidently forced Daryl to learn to coax her in the future, especially when she was giving him the silent treatment, he had to shamelessly coax her.

Yes, that's how unreasonable she is.

She calmly ignored the awkwardness on Daryl's face, after all, in Lina's mind, this was an essential quality of a boyfriend.

That's how her great-uncle coaxed her great-aunt. Although her great-aunt wasn't like her, always nagging and having a lot to say but sometimes acting up, to be honest, even though she was sometimes a little angry, what she really wanted was for the people around her to cling to her and coax her, which was very awkward.

According to her great-uncle, she inherited her fussiness from her mother, and that her father had also learned from him little by little, eventually mastering the art of coaxing his wife.

Unfortunately, Daryl never got the chance to obtain the Li family's secret manual.

Thinking of her deceased family members made Lina feel upset, and her mood inevitably became low.

Although Abraham looked rough and tough, he was actually very perceptive. “Are you tired? You can go eat first.” Everyone knew that Lina was indeed very strong, but she would eat like crazy whenever she was too tired.

"It's up to you now. I'll take the afternoon off," Lina said, checking the progress.

“Of course, get some rest, Popeye.” Abraham patted Lena on the shoulder, and Lena angrily shoved him aside and headed home.

Halfway there, Lina turned around in frustration. She didn't want to go home, and Daryl wasn't there either. Facing that house would only make her thoughts more complicated.

Fortunately, Lina left Alexandria directly. Because of the expansion, there were many zombies wandering outside, but many sharp wooden sticks were erected at the entrance. The wandering zombies were stuck in them and did not pose a threat. Instead, they could cover their presence.

Turning right after exiting the gate leads into the woods. Lina can stroll around while also patrolling, checking the number of walkers and looking for any signs of human presence.

Of course, aside from the zombies, you rarely encounter any human figures.

However, Lina was clearly encountering an exception today: Spencer, carrying a shovel, had obviously been wandering around outside for a long time.

"What are you doing?"

Startled, Spencer turned around in a panic and pointed his gun at Lina. After seeing who it was, he lowered the gun with mixed feelings. "What are you doing outside?"

"I asked first, so you have to answer me first." Lina glanced at Spencer with displeasure. "Fine, you don't need to tell me, I probably already know."

Spencer pursed his lips and silently glanced at Lina.

“Deanna is a good person, and so is Reggie,” Lina said. “It makes me regret that I always acted like a jerk when I was with them.”

Spencer raised an eyebrow. "No, they're used to it."

Lena was momentarily speechless, then glared angrily at Spencer, "If you can't speak properly, then don't speak."

“It’s just that you have a very high standard for how others speak,” Spencer shrugged, then turned and ran when he saw Lina’s eyes narrow, looking like she was about to ‘accidentally’ punch someone.

Lina was stunned for a moment. This guy... seemed to really know her well, and he ran away pretty quickly.

"Hey! You coward, don't run around!" Lina shouted and chased after him.

Spencer ran for a while and then obediently stopped. There were still quite a few zombies hiding in the woods, and they were wandering around now.

“We’ve all noticed, she’s not in this area,” Lina whispered.

When this was mentioned, Spencer's expression darkened. He hated Rick and his gang, except for Lena, but his feelings for Lena had become complicated.

She's in cahoots with them.

But this is Lina.

“I think we can go check that area,” Lina pointed in another direction. “It hasn’t been checked much; maybe she’ll go there.”

Spencer nodded, walking ahead dejectedly, lost in thought.

Lena knew he hated Rick, which was inevitable, but so far he hadn't done anything outrageous. Whether for Deanna and Reggie's sake, or for the sake of their childhood friendship, Lena wanted to persuade him.

How ridiculous! He has so many worries of his own, yet he's now worrying about other people's problems?

“Spencer,” Lina grabbed his arm. They were a little distance away from the walker, and the area was relatively safe enough to stop and talk.

"...You want to speak well of them?" Spencer said in a muffled voice.

“Maybe?” Lina frowned in annoyance. “Rick is a good man, a good leader.”

“Everything was fine in Alexander before my mother let these people in,” Spencer said angrily. “Rick was a good man? A good leader? No, my mother was, my father was, Aiden was.”

“This doesn’t conflict,” Lina sighed, she really hated it.

“I don’t want to talk about this anymore. Anyway, everything is settled now, and I have nothing left,” Spencer’s voice trembled slightly. “I don’t even know who is luckier between you and me now.”

“…Bastard.” Lina glared angrily at Spencer.

"..." Spencer was silent for a moment. "Say what you will," he turned his head away. "I won't do anything, don't worry. What else can I do? Who knows if I'll be the next one to die?"

“…Spencer, a narrow mind will kill you,” Lina said, suppressing her anger.

“My mother is quite magnanimous,” Spencer sneered. “Don’t lecture me, Lina. The last thing I want to hear right now is being lectured, especially not from you.”

“…Whatever, but as a friend, I advise you to calm down,” Lina said with some disappointment. She really couldn’t say anything nice to Spencer, and whatever she said seemed to hurt him.

His family members died.

"...If you're willing, everyone will be willing to make time to help," Lina said after a long while, then disappeared into the woods.

Spencer didn't say anything, but simply turned and walked away in the opposite direction. He knew what Lina was worried about, but he wouldn't. Alexandria was his mother's life's work, and it was also the place where he could live safely. He wouldn't destroy this place.

He needs Rick and his men to protect this place, but he will wait. He will wait for the opportunity to take back control of Alexander.

This is a place that Mom built, so it should be handed over to him, shouldn't it?

After searching around without finding any trace of the walker Deanna, Lina picked some wild vegetables and returned to Alexandria. She also discovered a clump of berries, and decided to take Herschel back with her to transplant it to Alexandria, though she wasn't capable of such delicate work.

When they got back, it was lunchtime. Lina always ate at Carol's house. Based on her experience of eating at every house, Carol's cooking was the best and suited her taste the most, followed by Herschel's. Most of the time, Maggie and Beth would cook together, and occasionally Herschel would cook something too. It was all pretty good. As for the other people's cooking...

Anyway, I'm better than her.

Carrying a bag of wild vegetables, Lina knocked on Carol's door with practiced ease.

Then, no one opened the door.

Did she leave empty-handed?

Lina peered suspiciously through the window, but no one was there, and the kitchen didn't look like it had been used.

"Lina!" Amy from next door pushed open the door. "Carol isn't home today; she went to take care of the elderly in the community!"

Then Lina saw Sophia pop out from behind Amy. "Mom said she'll cook something delicious tomorrow and invited you to Amy's house for dinner today."

Everyone is used to Lina eating at everyone's homes. If it weren't for Lina's pride, the community's home-cooking service would probably include her too.

"What do you want to eat?" Lina asked, skipping over with her bag in hand.

“What else could it be, spaghetti?” Amy shrugged helplessly. “But Andrea is in a good mood today, so it should taste good.”

“Okay,” Lina nodded. As long as it’s edible, it’s fine. Last time Andrea was in a bad mood, and the pasta was super hard! She’s a soft pasta lover, especially soft and sticky pasta.

“There are also mushrooms and tomatoes,” Amy said as she watched Lina enter. She closed the door, and the three of them went inside, talking as they went.

Upon entering, Lina unexpectedly spotted Eugene. "You're here for a free meal too?" Lina asked, looking at Eugene with curiosity.

"Given that my culinary skills are only good enough to cook things, I think it's best not to waste these precious ingredients and to hand them over to someone more suited to handling food," Eugene said righteously.

“Yes, yes, that’s right,” Lina nodded in agreement.

"Alright, you two lazybones," Andrea put down a plate in each hand, then glared at them. "You're so lazy you'll die."

Lina, grinning, took the plate. "You're just doing more work because you're capable,"

“I think this is a reasonable allocation of human resources. My brilliant mind shouldn’t be wasting its time in the kitchen.” Eugene picked up a fork and started twirling the pasta.

“That’s not right. How can you call it a delay? Cooking is an important thing too,” Lina said.

“You two, eat quietly,” Andrea rolled her eyes. “I really don’t know how your brain circuits are connected,” she shook her head helplessly.

“Because Lina and Eugene are both very smart!” Sophia said earnestly.

"Good girl," Lina said happily, rubbing Sophia's cheek.

“I don’t know about this…” A chill ran through him, and Eugene wisely shut his mouth. He couldn’t beat Lina, so he should be careful what he said.

"Is Rosita still the same?" Amy asked worriedly.

“According to her own insistence, she is in very good condition,” Eugene said. “However, in my judgment, I have heard her sobbing every night for several months in a row, and she is in a bad mood every day and has become very irritable, which may be related to her long-term lack of rest and endocrine disorders.”

“Abraham is a jerk,” Lina muttered, making Rosita and Sasha feel awkward.

“I really hope she can get through this soon,” Amy said worriedly.

Andrea glanced at Amy and sighed, hoping that Amy could get over it soon.
