Chapter 137

Chapter 137

It's a bit like a long trip, clearing your mind and emptying your thoughts.

The Kingdom of God must have been attacked by now, and its people must have fled to Hilltop. Alexander's men are also on their way to Hilltop. Once everyone is gathered together, Hilltop will become the target of their attack.

Without a doubt.

They will indeed win the final battle, but in the process, they will lose many people, which is not what Lina wants to see. Whenever she is grateful that the people she cares about are still alive, Lina forces herself to ignore one thing: there are many more people who are not important to her who are dying.

She couldn't save everyone, but she should at least do something instead of waiting for the end.

As for the battle at Hilltop, she did have some recollection of it, because Eugene had used a dirty trick that was very similar to one she had seen in her previous life.

To put it simply, it's about 'enchanting' weapons; those guys are going to smear their melee weapons with zombie blood.

Just like in ancient times when catapults were used to hurl diseased corpses at the enemy's city, it was all lost!

What's even more frustrating is that it's impossible to defend against; the only option is to keep your distance, avoid close combat, and max out your evasion skills.

After all, there's no such thing as 360-degree armor without any blind spots.

Or should she go around and capture Eugene now? Take over that factory? Abraham knows that place; it's the place they went to together. Then she can have Eugene hand-make bullets for his men?

But if we do that, we won't be able to win the final battle unscathed... which isn't a good idea.

Eugene used some underhanded tactics, targeting his own men!

"...Block this road..."

Where will they go?

Everyone stopped, including Lina, who was lost in thought. They didn't even dare to breathe loudly, and quietly pressed themselves against the bridge piers. Fortunately, the branches below provided cover, so the Salvation Army above didn't notice them.

“I’ll go scout ahead; we’ll meet at the hilltop.” Once the Saviors had left, Rick thought for a moment and said to Daryl, “You lead them around through the woods.”

Daryl hesitated for a moment, then said, “They can. I’ll go with you.”

“No, I’ll go.” Michonne stepped forward. “It’s better if you lead them. When it comes to the woods, none of us are as good as you.”

“Don’t worry,” Rick patted Daryl on the shoulder, “See you at Hilltop.”

Rick led Michonne onto the main road. They planned to steal a car, drive around the main road a few times to attract the Saviors' attention, and also check on Jandis, as they would need Jandis's manpower if a war broke out.

Daryl looked at the group of people, felt a momentary toothache, but quickly faced the reality and waved to lead everyone forward.

There were too many Salvation Army soldiers; they formed an encirclement, blocking all the roads to Hilltop, making it difficult to avoid them even if one only traveled through the woods.

Lina carried Moore on her back, and Karl held Judith in his arms; the two walked silently in the middle.

Lina was thinking about how to deal with the Salvation Army, while Carl was reflecting on his previous conversation with his father.

While in prison, he nearly killed a boy. He had come to invade with the Woodbury gang, but he eventually surrendered. At the time, however, he was filled with resentment.

Lina pushed the gun away, but his shot scared the boy away, and in the end, the boy also died.

He killed him.

What if he hadn't fired that shot?

Later they took in Woodbury's men, and they set up a new camp in the prison. He still remembers what those men looked like.

War is not the only option, nor should it be the only option.

Everyone needs a chance to survive together in this terrible world.

He talked a lot with his father, hoping to change his father's mind, but he didn't succeed. He had tried many times, just as Lina told him, that things were no longer so easy to change.

It's not that simple, but surely things can be changed?

Lina was unaware that Karl had suddenly become enraged; she had just suddenly remembered her RPG. Where was her RPG?

Didn't she still have one left? And didn't she loot a lot of ammunition from the Salvation Army's armory? What about those powerful weapons?

The three communities have been divided up, and it seems there are quite a few hilltop villages?

"Daryl!" Lina carried Mor on her back and ran over excitedly. Mor was jostled around and opened his eyes groggily. "Damn it...slow down!"

"Holy crap! He's come back to life!" Lina suddenly let go of his hand, and Moore fell to the ground with a cry of pain.

Daryl stopped and quickly came over to help Moore up. Lina touched her nose guiltily, "Who told you to talk so suddenly? You scared me."

“I should have just given you a bite.” With Daryl’s help, Moore stood up, finally having the strength to look around. “What happened?”

“The Salvation Army escaped, bombed Alexandria, and now we are all migrating to Hilltop,” Lina explained succinctly.

"Tsk, I'd rather never have woken up." Moore clicked his tongue, wishing he could punch himself right now.

"I told you we should have just blown up the Salvation Hall with a rocket launcher and stormed in!" Moore grumbled. "It's all because of you guys, no to this or that. We'd already started fighting, and you still didn't care whether the other side was dead or alive. You made me get killed by that bastard Sean... Where's Sean?!" Moore asked.

"I don't know, maybe he was captured by the Salvation Army? Who knows? If he wasn't captured... it's okay, he'll be watching us forever like a cockroach in a dark corner." Lina thought for a moment and said. It would be better if he was captured. She wasn't in the mood to deal with him now. As for whether he lived or died after being captured, that wasn't her concern.

"..." Moore glanced at Judith with a strange look in his eyes.

"..." Lina rolled her eyes at him, knowing full well but saying nothing!

Moore pursed his lips. Hadn't he said nothing? Besides, didn't Rick himself know perfectly well?

Daryl glanced at Moore and then at Lena. Now he really thought Sean's accusation that Moore and Lena were in cahoots was reasonable. The exchange of glances between the two seemed very smooth.

Could it be true, as Lina said, that Moore has her blood flowing through his veins?

Daryl stared at Moore for a long time. It seemed that he had also given Moore a blood transfusion. Why couldn't he join in this exchange of glances?

"...on the main road..."

"Team T has passed through; we need to complete the encirclement."

"Damn it, where did those bugs hide?"

"They won't get far. Once I find them, I'll smash their heads in."

Another group of Saviors passed by, and Daryl had no time to think about anything else. How could he get everyone there safely? There was no road now; did he have to go around in circles again?

“The swamp,” Dwight said, glancing at Daryl. “They won’t go over there. It’s too dangerous. Negan said it’s not worth it.”

"Lead the way." Lina didn't bother with any more words, simply hoisted Moore onto her shoulder, and said to Dwight.

Dwight paused for a moment, glanced at the others who looked dissatisfied, and said, “…over there.” He pointed in that direction.

“Lina, why should we believe him?” Tara frowned, looking at Dwight with disdain. “He’s a bastard.”

“I won’t deny it, but he’s useful,” Lina shrugged, and Moore nudged her head with his elbow from her shoulder. “Don’t move, you’re pressing against my stomach!”

Lina, annoyed, weighed Moore in her hand. "If you poke my head again, I'll throw you down! Can't you just pass out? Or should I help you?"

"..." Daryl felt that the journey ahead would be noisy, and his desire to beat up Dwight faded a bit. Lina was right; at least he was still somewhat useful.

Daryl glared at Dwight with displeasure, then led the way in the direction Dwight pointed.

Moore glanced at Dwight, whose hairstyle was somewhat similar to Daryl's. "Hey, you bastard, did you kiss Negan's ass? Boom—" Moore said in a strange tone.

"..." Dwight glanced at Moore speechlessly, then silently followed in the middle of the group. He didn't want to make his presence felt in the group; there were plenty of people who wanted to punch him.

"Shut up, are you trying to escape? Have some self-awareness," Lina snapped.

"You talk less than me?" Moore rolled his eyes.

"Nonsense, if you don't speak, how can I speak?" Lina retorted angrily.

“If you won’t talk to me, then I won’t talk to you either,” Moore continued, being cheeky.

"Then you..." Lina wanted to retort angrily. It was clearly him who talked too much; she was only trying to stop Mor! She had a legitimate purpose!

"Alright, shut up, nobody's allowed to say a word!" Daryl said, finally losing his temper.

Lina and Mole rolled their eyes at the same time. Fine, we won't talk about it then!

With Dwight's guidance, they quickly arrived at the swamp, but it was indeed very dangerous. There were many zombies underwater, and it was hard to be sure that they might suddenly emerge from underground.

“I’ll go down and take a look,” Rosita said, throwing down her backpack, picking up a knife, and wading into the water to carefully clear the way of the zombies.

Daryl didn't send everyone down; fewer people were easier to control. He used a crossbow to support Rosita from a distance.

Everyone passed through here safely, but when they continued towards the mountaintop stronghold, an unexpected incident occurred: the voice of the Salvation Army, and this time it was extremely close!

It's hard to hide such a large group of people!

Daryl raised his hand, and everyone took their weapons. However, for some reason, Dwight suddenly stumbled and fell.

“Hey everyone! It’s me, D!” Dwight said, raising his hand.

"My God, we thought you were dead!" The Salvation Army soldiers were surprised. "Are you alone?" They looked in the direction Dwight had come from.

Dwight strode forward nervously, drawing their attention. "You know, we're hiding from the walkers and figuring out how to get back. Have you seen Laura? She was still alive when we split up and ran away."

“No, no,” one of the Salvation Army soldiers said.

“Let’s go back. That’s a swamp over there; there’s no need to go there,” Dwight said, leading them to the side.

“Well, there is some trouble there.” The others didn’t object and followed him as they chatted as they left.

Daryl only let go of Lina's hand after she had walked away.

"What are you doing? He can't go back," Lina remembered that if he went back, they would be exposed, and Laura had already secretly returned to the Salvation Hall!

“Never mind him, we can’t cause trouble,” Daryl gestured for Lina to look behind them; so many people were counting on them.

Lena glanced at it and fell silent. Well, Dwight isn't going to die anyway, so let's wish him luck.

Compared to that, Lina finally remembered the question she had completely forgotten, "Where's the RPG?"

Daryl paused for a moment. Oh right, Hilltop seems to have RPGs too?
