How could she act as if nothing had happened?

Daryl couldn't understand it, or rather, he was secretly pleased; it was hard not to feel that way.

Contrary to Daryl's expectations, Lina hadn't forgiven his offense; she just hadn't decided yet. But as she had said before, even if he knelt down and begged her, she wouldn't give him another chance.

You have to kneel down and beg her at least three times, crying and pleading.

In short, Lina got to eat the food she ordered. Although dinner was unusually quiet tonight, the two didn't talk after dinner; one hid in the bedroom, and the other huddled on the living room sofa.

Similarly, both of them stared blankly at the ceiling, but kept their ears open, listening to the sounds coming from inside the room.

Lina kept despising herself in her heart, yet she kept looking expectantly out the door, but her enthusiasm for anticipation seemed to be constantly extinguished by the drizzling rain outside the window.

She's ignoring him. She's going home tomorrow. Who does he think he is?

Lina rolled over and covered herself with the blanket. He was worthless!

Some people get so angry that they stay up all night, but Lina isn't like that. She just closes her eyes, lets her mind go blank, and then falls asleep.

Tomorrow is another day.

The night will take away all the pain.

As soon as it was light, Daryl, who hadn't slept all night, prepared breakfast and quietly went downstairs to start his new day's work.

He thought about it all night, and couldn't say whether he had figured it out or not, although he still thought he was ridiculously stupid.

coward.

He thought she might look at him smugly and kneel down to beg for his favor, but he didn't expect her to do that, at least not under the bed.

But if she insists, he probably won't be able to do anything about it.

Being entangled in a jumble of thoughts can often cause one a lot of distress, but figuring things out can happen in just a moment.

He was eager to finish his work for the day, so he went to the flower shop from yesterday, where the roses were still blooming brightly.

“I’d like a red bouquet,” Daryl said somewhat awkwardly, his fingers fiddling with the hem of his trousers. He never imagined he would ever step into a flower shop.

This doesn't mean he knew nothing about flowers, or that he thought such attentive behavior was pathetic; it simply means he never imagined he would one day treat someone with such respect, or be treated with such respect by someone.

He tried to turn away all good intentions, and he always managed to do so.

If there's one thing he's best at in his life, it's this.

Ultimately, the reason he couldn't even admit to himself was cowardice.

When you desire something, you will be hurt; when you care about nothing, no one will think that it can hurt you.

Only he knows the truth, and that's not a bad thing. Anyway, he doesn't want to be that ridiculous clown.

To become a fool who entertains others with his own misfortune.

Daryl carefully stuffed the wrapped flowers into his backpack and walked out of the flower shop with a rather pleasant expression, even though the real challenge would come when he got back.

As soon as Daryl stepped out of the flower shop, he was forcefully pinned to the ground by the people at the door, his hands were handcuffed behind his back.

“Daryl Dixon.” The policeman glanced at the photo. “Take him away.”

Daryl remained silent; in this situation, nothing he said would make a difference.

Daryl's bag was roughly ripped off and taken away. Frustrated, Daryl sat in the car watching the street scenes rushing past outside the parking lot.

Hopefully, she at least knows how to order takeout instead of mindlessly eating ice cream.

Lena had already packed her bags. She decided to wait for Daryl to return, then smash the keys in his face, and then...

If he doesn't apologize, she'll leave immediately!

Lina sat angrily on the sofa, and he still had to clean the sofa that had been wet and dirty yesterday!

And I need to take tomorrow off to take her out to play!

Let her think again about how to punish him.

The punishment hadn't been decided yet, but there was a knock on the door. Lina sat upright for a moment before slowly getting up. "You still know to... come back... ah..."

Lina was terrified and instinctively tried to close the door.

The door was blocked by a hand, and then a figure squeezed in.

"Hehe, Uncle..." Lina laughed awkwardly.

Edward sneered, "I thought you'd hit your head again? Looks like you're perfectly lucid." Lucidly doing something stupid.

"Why are you here?" Lina was a little scared. How could she not be scared? Being caught living with a man was really going to be the death of her.

“Your uncle is already waiting for you in DC,” Edward glanced at his watch. “Now you’re satisfied, you can prepare to go home.”

"You can't do this!" Lina said angrily.

“I didn’t come here to argue with you,” Edward looked at her and sighed. “I’m very disappointed in you, Lena. You want me to treat you like an adult, but you’ve never, never done even the smallest thing that I could see you grow.”

“I let you leave me and Annie, and you ended up spending your days in a daze, even resorting to eating ice cream to get by. But those are minor issues. You can’t take care of yourself, that’s okay. We have nannies and maids, and we can hire a nutritionist. Everything is negotiable…”

“You followed a group of ignorant people in and out of those chaotic places in a daze. I took it as your curiosity. Young people always want to see things they haven’t seen before. Fortunately, you know your limits, so we can forgive you. It’s not a big deal.”

"Now you're living with a complete stranger, a despicable thug, a drug dealer. Have you lost your mind?"

"He's not a drug dealer!" Lina looked at Edward in disbelief; they had indeed investigated everything.

"Really? How much do you know about him?" Edward sneered. "Do you know anything about his past?"

"..." If she were to say that she didn't care, she would obviously have fallen into his trap again, making her seem like an ignorant fool, a fool who had plunged headlong into the river of love.

Lina pursed her lips and remained silent.

"Pack your things and let's go home," Edward said, rubbing his temples in annoyance.

"...I'll go back by myself," Lina said angrily, turning around and sitting on the sofa with her arms crossed.

“I’m not discussing this with you. You have to come back to DC with me tonight,” Edward glanced at his watch. “Your uncle has a meeting tomorrow, and you two need to meet before he leaves.”

Lina was a little listless. She didn't dislike her uncle. As the only child of her generation, Lina had been pampered since childhood. Even her usually stern uncle would put on a smiling face in front of her.

The premise is that she doesn't make any mistakes.

Now, Lina was so scared that her face turned pale. She was sure she would get a beating. Oh no, America doesn't allow hitting children. Oh, wait, she's not a child anymore.

"At least let me say goodbye to him, right?" Lina said unhappily. "He's really a nice guy," Lina said, glancing cautiously at Edward.

Edward's face turned ashen. "...Lina, I've never hit you before. Now, don't force me to make an exception."

Lina swallowed nervously. "...I..." She still wanted to resist. She didn't want to leave without saying goodbye, especially after yesterday's argument.

“You won’t wait for him to come back,” Edward said.

"What do you mean?" Lina was stunned for a moment, then jumped up from the sofa. "What did you do to him?"

“You should ask what he did. If he didn’t do anything, then he’ll come back after we leave. If he did do something, then fine, you’ll never have the chance to see him in front of you,” Edward said coldly.

"How could you do this!" Lina almost cried. "That's why I don't want to go back. I'm fed up with you controlling everything I do. Even if it's a mistake, it's my decision. What right do you have to make decisions for me? This is my life, and I don't need you to make decisions for me."

“Only when you have enough confidence can you say this to me with reason and conviction,” Edward said, looking at Lina with disappointment. “Lina, we all love you, but you must remember that you are nothing more than a rich second-generation heir living under the family’s shadow. You are good for nothing. If you want to have a voice, it’s simple: leave the family like I did, or you prove that you have the ability.”

"The truth is, you can't do any of them. Since that's the case, you should at least learn one thing: to be obedient."

"Do I need to make myself clearer?" Edward looked coldly at Lina.

“You’ve made yourself clear enough,” Lina said, wiping away her tears.

“I think what you’ve experienced these past few days should have shown you how you maintain your luxurious lifestyle. Look at where you live; I don’t think it should be like this, should it?” Edward said, looking around. “Even if we pretend we don’t know anything, could you accept a life even more shabby than this?”

"Why not?" Lina looked at Edward stubbornly, "When Mom and Dad are still here..."

“Yes, you mean ordinary life?” Edward shook his head helplessly. “Besides living in an ordinary place, you shouldn’t overlook the mattress you’ve slept on and the things you’ve used since you were a child. Do they have labels?”

“That doesn’t mean I can’t use things with labels; I’ll get used to it,” Lina said.

“That only makes me realize how stupid you are,” Edward sighed. “You think using things with labels is the worst kind of life?”

“I never said that,” Lena interrupted Edward. “I know what you mean. You think I can’t live a life of poverty, right? I used to think that way, and I still think that way now, but life isn’t that bad.” Lena scratched her hair in frustration. “The word ‘suffering’ doesn’t even exist in my dictionary. But call it ridiculous or stupid, I don’t think being with him is suffering.”

“You’ve made me feel like no matter what I say, he’ll cook me a bowl of plain porridge.” Lina gave a bitter smile. “But I just want to be with him. Maybe a week, maybe a month, maybe a year, who knows? I don’t want to think about that. I just know that whether it’s today or tomorrow, I want to see him.”

Edward looked at Lena in silence, his feelings very complicated. She had always been like this, acting without considering the consequences. They had spoiled her, and no matter what she did, someone would always clean up her mess. She thought she had seen through the worst possible outcome, but she had no idea how bad the outside world could be.

“We can talk about other things later. At least come back with me to see your uncle. He hasn’t slept well for days. You just left your totaled car on the road. You almost scared us to death.” Edward didn’t continue that annoying topic. If you went against her, it would only fuel her rebellious spirit. There’s no such thing as true love. It’s just about enjoying the feeling of fighting against the whole world.
