if Strange and Weird 3
I haven't encountered so many coincidences in many years.
Standing in front of the familiar door, Lina looked at her phone in shock. It showed the address Rick had given her, and in front of her was the house she had helped move into not long ago.
Where did Rick meet these strange guys?
Although it may be offensive to say this, it is obvious that the people I met that day had very unusual auras. They were all different kinds of people, but there was an eerie and harmonious atmosphere, as if we had lived together for many years.
It's hard to imagine what kind of opportunity brought this group of people together.
While Lina was struggling with her decision, the door opened, and thankfully it was Rick, whom Lina knew well. "I've been waiting for you for ages, I thought you were lost." Rick stepped aside to let Lina in. "What's wrong? What are you standing there for, lost in thought?"
“It just feels like a strange coincidence,” Lina frowned.
“I didn’t expect you to run into Carol that day. She’s a friend of mine and recently moved here,” Rick said. Carol moved to get away from Edward and to provide Sophia with a better learning environment. Most importantly, Moore and Daryl moved in with them. Carol thought she was quite good at dealing with the two brothers. Raising one child is the same as raising three. “She’s a great cook and a very nice person.”
“That’s true,” Lina thought of their previous meeting and felt that he was indeed a nice person. And those cookies, strangely, were very much to her liking, with the sugar ratio just right. She didn’t like them too sweet, but she didn’t like them not sweet either. With such a picky palate, it was difficult to find desserts that suited her taste in America.
Rick smiled, watched Lina come in, and closed the door. Inside, there was not only music, but also a series of clanging and banging noises, which seemed to be getting louder and louder.
"What's wrong?" Lina asked Rick, puzzled.
“They might be playing around,” Rick said without batting an eye.
When Lina entered the living and dining room, she realized why there was such a commotion. Although it wasn't Christmas, a human-shaped 'Christmas tree' had appeared in front of her.
Daryl froze on the spot. He had just tried desperately to run away, but now that Lina had actually come in, he didn't dare to move at all.
What a bizarre scene it was! Moore was clinging to a man like a koala, Abraham was also holding onto the man's waist, and a fat man and Glenn were crawling on the ground, each holding him down by one leg.
...
Lina looked at Rick in shock, "What kind of show is this?"
Carol couldn't help but laugh out loud. "I knew you'd come. Come on, this is Rosita, that's Eugene, and these are Maggie, Michonne, Andrea, and Amy."
Lina was somewhat embarrassed as Carol dragged her around to greet everyone, her overly familiar manner overwhelming her.
However, Lina was most curious about the man who was being attacked by a group of people. She couldn't help but glance at him, but she could only see his back and couldn't see his face.
“Well, that’s Daryl, Moore’s brother,” Carroll said with a smile. “He’s been working with Rick for a few years now.”
Lena raised an eyebrow and looked at Rick, who awkwardly clenched his fist to his mouth, coughed fake, and looked away.
Why was he staring at her? Lina curiously stepped forward, and the decorations on the 'Christmas tree' scattered, leaving Daryl bewildered.
Yes, she was completely at a loss, which made Lina even more curious.
She circled around to face Daryl and stared intently at the man. It was clear that he didn't care much about the quality of life; his clothes were casual, he had some stubble, and his hair was long and messy, making him look rather slovenly.
Lina stared intently, and Daryl took two steps back guiltily, almost unable to resist running away. Everyone quieted down, silently watching Lina and Daryl, hoping that Lina might remember something!
Suddenly, Lina reached out and grabbed Daryl's clothes, pulling him down to bend over. Then she grabbed Daryl's long hair, pulled it behind his head, and stared at it for a long time.
Has it recovered? Are we going to kiss? Amy's eyes lit up as she hugged the popcorn bucket tightly.
"It's you!" Lina suddenly said.
?
Everyone paused for a moment, wondering if they remembered or not. It felt like… Daryl had secretly flirted with Lina?
While everyone was frantically trying to figure things out because of him, he had already secretly started flirting with Lina behind their backs?
Darylton paused, wanting to nod, but his head was held tightly by Lina, preventing him from moving an inch. He could only mumble a "hmm".
"You liar!" Lina accused.
?
Everyone looked at Daryl with condemnation.
Daryl felt like he was being stared through the back of his head. He pursed his lips helplessly. "I didn't..."
"Liar!" Lina let go of Daryl's hand, wrinkled her nose angrily, and ignored him, running to Rick's side.
"It seems everyone has a pretty good idea of what's going on. Please sit down; it's time for dinner." Carol smoothly cued the proceedings and, with everyone's help, got Daryl to sit opposite Lina.
"You two knew each other before?" Rick asked, sitting down next to Lina.
“...Not really,” Lina was clearly still quite resentful, and she glared at Daryl when Rick asked her.
"Can you tell me?" Rick asked curiously.
Lena frowned, somewhat reluctantly, but she began to speak anyway. Although she lowered her voice, everyone present, except Eugene, was alert and listening intently.
Everyone started eating melon seeds (a Chinese idiom for gossiping).
As Lina recounted her story, Daryl also recalled what had happened back then.
He regained his memory very early on; he only remembered that he had made a promise with Lina the night before, that after tricking Rick into coming, he would abandon the affairs of the Saviour's Hall and take a vacation. In the blink of an eye, the person in his arms was gone.
He was kicked off the bed and then brutally beaten. Daryl was so stunned that he didn't even have time to react. When he came to his senses, he pushed away the drunkard on top of him and was about to throw a punch when Daryl froze and lowered his fist. It was his father.
My father died during the catastrophe.
“How dare you defy me, Daryl? Get out of my house!” old Dixon roared angrily.
Daryl silently stood up and left the house. He stood blankly outside the door, looking at the familiar woods and the familiar yard.
He had lived in this place for over twenty years, and it was hard for him to forget it.
The pain in his body told him that none of this was a dream, or rather, what he remembered was the dream.
Daryl sat on the steps, lost in thought. After a long while, he made a decision: he would go and see for himself, to see Lina, to see if she really existed.
The young man, in his early twenties, was full of youthful vigor. He set off without a second thought, without any preparation, and followed the address he remembered to find his way there.
Daryl had almost no money at that time, so he hitchhiked or hunted to pay for his journey. By the time he arrived in Virginia, a month had already passed.
At that time, Daryl didn't have many other thoughts; he just wanted to see if Lina Lee really existed.
It was after Halloween, the festive atmosphere hadn't changed with the calendar, and the decorations on every house were still up. Colorful lights shone on Daryl's face as he walked to the door of the house Lina had mentioned.
He stepped forward to knock on the door, but saw his own disheveled reflection in the glass; in Lina's words, he looked like a savage.
Daryl flinched. What should he say when he knocked on the door?
After hesitating for a long time, Daryl turned and left, thinking that as long as he kept an eye on things nearby, he would eventually be able to see what the people inside the house looked like.
Daryl thought he had passed a park on his way here and could stay there for a few days. But after walking for a short while, he was stunned.
Lina.
Lina was still very young.
Clearly, she hadn't had enough of Halloween either. She was still wearing a lot of pumpkin and skull decorations, dressed in a little dress, carrying a candy basket, and happily running home when she bumped into Daryl.
"...A good dog doesn't block the way!" Lina angrily covered her forehead, looked up and shouted fiercely at the person in front of her.
"Uncle, are you a wild man? Tarzan?" Lina looked at Daryl curiously. Why is someone still wearing a costume today?
“…” Daryl was completely stunned, not knowing how to talk to Lina at all.
The person who was in his arms a moment ago has now become a tiny little bean.
Daryl was completely devastated. To make matters worse, he realized that he still liked Lina, but he wasn't so twisted as to say he liked such a little girl.
At this moment, he realized again the age difference between himself and Lina.
Seeing that the person in front of her didn't speak and kept staring at her intently, Lina began to feel scared. She carefully walked around the person and was not stopped. Lina took the opportunity to run away.
She took a couple of steps, turned around, and saw that person still standing there, just turning back to look at her.
For some reason, Lina felt a little sad. She looked at her basket, ran to Daryl, and said, "Here you go!" These were part of her recent spoils.
Seeing that no one reacted, Lina became frightened again. She put the basket at Daryl's feet and rushed home without looking back.
Daryl slowly began to move after the figure had been out of sight for a long time. He squatted down and picked up the small basket.
He's still just a child.
Daryl stared at the colorful, round candies. He had seen the person he wanted to see, so that was that.
Daryl felt a sudden stinging sensation in his nose, picked up a candy, opened it, and popped it into his mouth. It was sweet... "Pfft!" Daryl spat it out. After biting through the candy shell, the wasabi water that gushed out made his nose sting even more.
Passersby stared in horror at a disheveled man carrying a small basket, crying uncontrollably.
Halloween had just passed, and everyone had plenty of candy on them. Many kind people quietly stuffed Daryl's little basket with even more candy.
Daryl: ...
