Chapter 103 A Letter Has Arrived

Everyone has their own life, and when everyone is busy, the days seem to pass very quickly.

Pei Ying's work in the cafeteria went as smoothly as she had initially planned. She was highly capable and more than qualified to handle the job. With two powerful figures backing her up, no one dared to bully her.

The two children were still carefree. Every morning they were sent to the preschool, played with their friends during the day, and went to the cafeteria to find Pei Ying in the evening, where they would stay obediently.

Occasionally, when they have friends to play together, they play in the yard for a while, and they take very good care of themselves.

On Monday, Xia Wenhua received a letter from Liu Tao saying that it might not be published on Monday and that it would be postponed. Xia Wenhua was asked to wait for further news.

After waiting for almost a week, on Friday when he was at work, Grandpa Zhang called out to Xia Wenhua.

"Comrade Xia, there's a letter for you. Come and take a look."

Xia Wenhua is a meticulous person. Every day when she sees Grandpa Zhang, she casually greets him. Grandpa Zhang has long recognized this new young lady from the secretariat.

I heard that Xia Wenhua might even become the group leader of the secretariat. The old man usually has nothing better to do, so he's rebuked several people who spoke ill of Xia Wenhua.

The young girl is pretty and knows how to get along with people. Every day when she comes to the factory, she makes a point of stopping to talk to the old man. Such a nice girl deserves to be a team leader.

Xia Wenhua entered the guardhouse, and Grandpa Zhang took out several envelopes from inside.

"Uncle Zhang, are all these mine?"

If it were a letter, Xia Wenhua could guess that it was news from the Anshi Daily.

She was a little confused by all the sudden influx of people.

"That's right, these all arrived yesterday and have all been gathered together. I always said Xia, you're so popular, so many people are writing to you!"

Grandpa Zhang is literate, but he has never been one to meddle.

He won't even look at the envelope if the item is left with him until the person arrives.

Therefore, even though he received many letters from Xia Wenhua, he didn't know who wrote any of them.

Xia Wenhua smiled. Those who knew her workplace were all business associates, so she had nothing to hide. She immediately opened the letter in front of Grandpa Zhang in the guardhouse.

Each envelope contained a short message, and two of them also contained some money.

Xia Wenhua first picked up the envelope containing only paper, which was sent by another newspaper she had previously submitted her manuscript to. Its main purpose was to inform her that the manuscript had been reviewed but did not meet the requirements for the time being.

Commonly known as a rejection letter.

Aside from the Anshi Daily, which showed some effort, Xia Wenhua's other submissions, while not exactly perfunctory, were just mass-produced pieces with nothing particularly noteworthy.

If you don't put in much effort, you don't need to worry about it too much; being rejected isn't unacceptable.

After reading the two envelopes, Xia Wenhua put them back in their original packaging and set them aside. Then she looked at the three remaining envelopes.

The first one was from Anshi Daily. Liu Tao only left one sentence: Come to the newspaper office when you have time to discuss it in detail.

In addition, a copy of today's newspaper was sent over.

Xia Wenhua had an idea. She picked up the newspaper and saw that, sure enough, her article had been published.

A smile involuntarily appeared on her face; her position as group leader was secure!

As for the next two envelopes, they contained the news that her articles, which she had previously submitted to two small newspapers, had been accepted.

The word counts of her submissions were roughly the same, and the payment was always one ten-yuan note, which was fair.

If it weren't for the Anshi Daily, she would definitely have paid attention to these two newspapers.

Now that she has the Anshi Daily, her position as group leader is secured, and she doesn't need to worry about anything else.

Xia Wenhua took out the newspaper and carefully read the article published by Anshi Daily. Apart from a few minor word changes, there were no other changes; it was exactly her original manuscript.

After reading it through and finding no problems with the published article, Xia Wenhua gripped the newspaper tightly in her hand.

"Comrade Xia, has your article been published in the newspaper?"

Grandpa Zhang stood nearby, observing Xia Wenhua's expression. Recalling the recent news circulating throughout the factory about the trials related to Xia Wenhua's promotion path, he became somewhat curious.

"Yes, Uncle Zhang, could you please take a look? If there's anything lacking, please point it out so I can easily correct it in the future."

Xia Wenhua handed it to Grandpa Zhang without hesitation, her smile as bright as ever.

If it were Xia Wenhua's letter, Grandpa Zhang definitely wouldn't read it.

But this is a newspaper! The newspaper that their steel mill's articles were submitted to!

Grandpa Zhang wasn't really watching Xia Wenhua's actions; he was just making some guesses based on her excited expression.

After taking the newspaper from Xia Wenhua's hand, he looked at the name on it and exclaimed, "Wow, Anshi Daily! Comrade Xia, you're amazing!"

Whether or not people in Anshi read newspapers, everyone knows the Anshi Daily.

The factory's requirement for Xia Wenhua was simply to be published in Anshi's newspapers. Besides the Anshi Daily, there were several smaller newspapers. If Xia Wenhua wanted to take a shortcut, it would definitely be easier to find those newspapers than the Anshi Daily.

This young comrade is quite remarkable; she actually went directly to the Anshi Daily and, more importantly, got her article published.

After expressing his feelings about the newspaper, Grandpa Zhang opened it and read its contents.

"Oh my, isn't this Comrade Fan from the steelmaking workshop? She's just a housewife, yet she was reported? And this one, is that Comrade Wang from the smelting workshop, and Comrade Hong from the workshop next door?"

After reading Xia Wenhua's newspaper article, Grandpa Zhang was stunned.

In the past, newspapers were filled with articles that seemed profound but were incomprehensible to them. Xia Wenhua's article was good, although it was a bit rambling at the end. But didn't it mention the people from their steel factory?

She wasn't referring to the factory director or the party secretary, but rather to the most ordinary employee?

Grandpa Zhang had been holding back for a long time, but he couldn't help but lean closer to Xia Wenhua and ask, "Comrade Xia, can ordinary employees like us be in the newspaper too?"

Xia Wenhua nodded affirmatively: "Of course! Aunt Fan worked diligently for the steel factory, and even gave birth to her first child in the steel factory's rest room."

The factory needed manpower at the time, and she returned to production after only one day of postpartum confinement. Comrades Wang and Hong have not taken a single day off for many years and have been awarded the title of advanced worker every year. They are anything but ordinary.

The steel plant needs people like them to develop, so of course they should report it!

Xia Wenhua spoke with absolute certainty, and Grandpa Zhang became unusually hesitant.

However, it was almost time for work, and he was afraid that Xia Wenhua would leave immediately. After hesitating for a moment, he couldn't hold back what he wanted to say.

"Comrade Xia, I'm not bragging, but when I was young, I was a model worker in our factory. Do you think I could make it into the newspaper?"
