Chapter 11 This is contemporary society

The manager looked at the black card on the table, his expression becoming even more respectful. He glanced at Xiaoxiao, then called over a man standing some distance away and handed him the card. "A'Neng, quickly go and process a card for our esteemed customer."

Ah Neng was a little confused. After all, he was serving other customers one second, and the next second the manager was giving him a card with a commission. He took the card blankly, listened to the manager's words, paused for a second, and then quickly ran to the cashier.

Looking at the printed receipt, which indicated that five million had been successfully recharged, Ah Neng was surprised for a moment before immediately walking towards Su Ran's location, handing the card to the manager, who then respectfully handed it to Su Ran, and then also handed over the newly issued VIP card.

"Miss, here's your card. You have five million yuan in your account. This card can be used at any of Mingxianhui restaurants. Would you like to dine now? We'll arrange it for you right away."

"Hmm." Then the manager arranged for A Neng to lead Su Ran and Su Chen into the restaurant. Xiao Li, of course, saw this scene and stared at the two of them in surprise. She never expected that the two of them were actually rich people who had directly recharged five million.

Thinking about what had just happened, Xiaoli became extremely nervous. She had offended someone to the point of no return. Su Ran stopped in front of Xiaoli and looked at the trembling Xiaoli.

Su Ran looked at the manager beside her and said, "Manager, some of the people in your store need more training. Otherwise, if someone comes in, they'll be called a stinking beggar. Forget about making money, it'll be good if the store doesn't get smashed up."

The manager also glanced at Xiaoli with an inscrutable expression.

Xiaoli's face turned pale, and she took a few steps back. Su Ran ignored her and followed Aneng without stopping. Aneng was very conflicted. In just a few minutes, what gossip had he missed?

Xiao Xiao stood aside. She had also spoken ill of Xiao Li before, but Xiao Li had never taken it seriously. However, she had met her match today, not expecting that the other party was a hidden tycoon.

Having worked together for a year and soon becoming her sister-in-law, Xiaoxiao still wanted to help Xiaomei, so she respectfully said, "Miss, about Xiaoli..."

Su Chen glanced at Xiao Xiao, interrupting her directly, and chuckled, "Why is it so fashionable to apologize for others now?"

Su Ran glanced at Xiao Xiao with a deep, indifferent expression, said nothing more, and left directly.

Xiao Xiao, who was interrupted, realized that she had said the wrong thing. How could she think of pleading for someone else? After all, this would be the most disgusting thing for anyone.

She thought the other person was good-tempered, but everyone has their limits, and she almost crossed them.

Xiao Xiao felt a pang of regret. In a restaurant like this, the worst thing you can do is talk too much. How could she have made such a mistake? Besides, even though she didn't show it, her thoughts were similar to Xiao Li's. Xiao Xiao felt a wave of fear when she thought about it.

Su Ran considers herself a good-tempered person. In the past, when she had no money, she could only force herself to be good-tempered. Now that she has money, how could Su Ran allow herself to be wronged?

Ah Neng led his people to their seats and thoughtfully provided a menu. Su Ran handed the menu to Su Chen, asking him to choose what to order. However, Su Chen was immediately discouraged when he saw how expensive it was and returned the menu to Su Ran.

Su Ran took it without even looking at it and handed it directly to A Neng, saying, "You can decide how to use it; just enough for two people is fine."

Ah Neng took the menu. "Okay, miss, is there anything else you'd like? Juice or red wine?"

"Juice bar," Su Ran said, glancing at the manager beside her. "Are all five-star restaurants as bad as that young lady from the first restaurant?"

The manager's expression remained unchanged, but he was nervous inside. Ah Neng, who was standing next to him, was also very nervous, after all, he was about to hear the gossip!

The manager knew from Xiaoli's appearance that the woman had committed a serious offense. "Miss, all our restaurant staff are well-trained, but today's situation is a problem on our end."

"Training? I didn't see that coming." The manager was sweating profusely. He couldn't afford to offend the girl in front of him; someone who could produce a black card of that caliber was someone he dared not offend!

"Miss, I'm very sorry for the extremely poor service experience you had. This was our restaurant's mistake. I will give Xiaoli appropriate punishment for her behavior. Is that alright with you?"

Su Ran leaned back in her chair and remained silent for a while, but the manager standing to the side felt like every day was an eternity, fearing that this hidden tycoon in front of him might buy off the store and fire him if he was unhappy.

Su Ran shook the straw under the covers. "I hope next time I come to your store, I won't be mistaken for a beggar again."

Upon hearing Su Ran's words, the manager knew that she was satisfied with his explanation. After thanking her, the manager left with Aneng. However, upon hearing this, Aneng thought to himself, "What a load of crap! She even used the word 'beggar' in her mouth. Is her brain filled with shit?"

On the other side, Xiaoli's face was pale and her legs were weak. She knew she was done for. She had offended this kind of customer, and the manager would not let her off the hook. Besides, she had just been criticized a second ago, and this happened the next second.

Xiaoli regretted it, but she knew it was no use; how could she take back what she had said?

The manager looked at Xiaoli, who was trembling like a plug, but his face remained gentle and refined. His words were colder than the December weather. "You're fired. Given that your mistake almost caused the restaurant to lose a valued customer, we planned to use all of this month's salary to compensate the restaurant. However, our restaurant manager is well-versed in labor laws, so go collect your salary, pack your things, and leave."

Xiaoli felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave, but she couldn't say anything, after all, this was the result of her own actions.

...

"Sis, how could I run into someone like this just to have a meal!" Su Chen was furious at being slandered. He probably thought he was on a lower level, but he never expected there would be such a person among the service staff. They really looked down on people!

Su Ran smiled and said, "It's normal. You can see people like this everywhere in society. They're just annoyed by our cheap clothes and take it out on us."

Su Chen's eyes were red and he was furious. Having never been in society before, he didn't know how dirty it was, even though he knew that society was unfair.

But he hadn't expected it to be so unfair. Shouldn't a waiter be very polite? Why were they speaking so rudely? Su Ran sipped her juice. She had long seen through this society; it was inherently unfair, and what could she do about it?

Now the only advantage is that I have money. Otherwise, what could I have done in the past? I would have had to swallow my anger. A good manager might have helped me, but if I had encountered a corrupt one, they would probably have sided with the other party and cursed me, and I would have had to endure it.

Su Ran looked out the window at the river view. On the surface, it appeared prosperous, but in reality, it was utterly corrupt. This was the reality of society today. Su Ran had seen through it all. What hadn't she done before? Driver, waitress, saleswoman, bartender, tutor, delivery driver, dishwasher, cashier…

If you don't do well, you'll get scolded by customers and your boss; if you do well, they'll praise you, talk about dreams, and paint a rosy picture for you.
