Chapter 174 The anger in my heart hasn't been vented yet
After making the call, Han Xi suddenly felt at a loss. He couldn't hide the news of Gu Hanxi's death from Shen Tongtong's existence.
The reason I didn't tell Gu Hongyi right away was that I wanted to handle some things in advance so as not to upset the Gu family.
Gu Beichen answered the call quickly, and a pleasant laugh came through the microphone.
"Han Xi, I have some good news to tell you. Has Qianqian told you yet?"
Han Xi was slightly taken aback. The good news that Gu Beichen could say must be that Zhuo Qingqian had accepted his marriage proposal.
"She didn't tell me anything, but I guess it's because you proposed successfully."
“You’re right, we’re finally getting married. It’s been a long and difficult journey for me. I’ve been meticulously planning these past few days, preparing a romantic proposal at her law firm. She was so touched that she accepted.”
Gu Beichen was rambling on about his romantic ideas, but he didn't hear a response. He was so excited that he forgot Han Xi must have called him for something.
And sensing that the other person's mood seemed a bit off, he suppressed his laughter and asked cautiously, "Han Xi, is there something you need on the phone? You seem a little unhappy."
Han Xi took a deep breath and answered him apologetically.
"Beichen, something has indeed happened. I'm sorry to tell you bad news when you're so happy, but you'll have to step in and resolve some of the issues first."
These words immediately made Gu Beichen serious. For Han Xi to use such a tone, something serious must have happened.
He stopped laughing out loud and instead asked cautiously, "Then tell me, what exactly happened?"
Han Xi said heavily, "Gu Hanxi just died in a car accident. We are at the amusement park, and the police are handling the matter. Come here, I have something important to tell you."
Gu Beichen felt his head buzzing instantly. This was his little sister whom he had cherished since childhood.
Although Gu Hanxi did do many things that disappointed him, it doesn't mean he doesn't love her.
Hearing the news of her death now feels like being struck by lightning.
"But... but how could this be? Wasn't she doing well in prison? How could she have been in a car accident?"
“I know it’s hard for you to accept right now. You’ll know the truth when you come here. Don’t tell your parents about this for now, so they won’t be even more heartbroken later.”
What makes me even more heartbroken?
Gu Beichen stopped thinking for a moment, grabbed his coat, and ran out quickly.
Over the years, Gu Beichen would still visit her in prison whenever he had time, and would also instruct the people inside to take good care of her, hoping that Gu Hanxi could change her ways and come back as his sister.
But he never expected this outcome, which he found unacceptable.
Han Xi walked to the ambulance and saw Shen Jiheng sitting in the car seat in a daze. In front of him was Shen Tongtong, who was already covered with a white sheet.
Gu Hanxi is dead, but Shen Jiheng's heart wound has not yet been healed.
He hadn't gotten over the anger he felt.
Han Xi sighed inwardly and went over to comfort her, saying, "Don't be sad. Tongtong has just gone to a place where there is no pain. As for Gu Hanxi, it must be that even God couldn't bear to see it and made her go to apologize to the child herself."
Shen Jiheng looked up at her, never expecting that Han Xi would be by his side when he needed comfort the most.
If it weren't for her patient guidance, Shen Jiheng would have had a hard time calming down.
Shen Jiheng slowly reached out his hand to her.
Normally, Han Xi would never have paid him any attention, but this time she still reached out and placed her hand in his palm.
Shen Jiheng took her hand in his large hand and felt a force healing him.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened them again, he looked much better.
Shen Jiheng's eyes were full of gratitude; it felt good to have her by his side.
"Then let's go back to the hospital now to handle the follow-up matters."
Han Xi shook her head: "You go back with them first. I need to stay and wait for Gu Beichen. The Gu family will find out about this very soon. I need to explain the child's situation to Gu Beichen first, so that the Gu family won't be saddened any more."
For so many years, neither family has known about Shen Tongtong's existence, so there's no need to tell them now.
Shen Jiheng nodded. Indeed, Gu Hanxi's death was sudden, and with police officers present, when the Gu family inquired about the cause and effect, it would definitely bring up the child's matter.
"I believe you can handle it. Contact me again if anything comes up."
Han Xi nodded in agreement: "Okay, I'll contact you later."
Now that things have escalated to this point, they naturally need to be handled properly.
Watching the ambulance leave, Han Xi felt incredibly heavy-hearted.
The car accident was still being dealt with when Gu Beichen rushed over and saw Gu Hanxi's body being loaded into the car. Only then did he believe that everything he had heard was true.
He had been thinking a lot on the way, wondering if it was some kind of prank.
He didn't even dare to call the prison to verify the situation first; he just wanted to come and see for himself.
He walked blankly toward Han Xi, opened his mouth but didn't know what to say.
Han Xi sighed and said, "This matter is rather complicated, and I need you to come and explain it to me."
Gu Beichen really couldn't understand how an accident could suddenly happen out of nowhere.
"Why? How did she get here? Why did she cross the road? Han Xi, tell me everything."
"Let's talk about it after we get in the car. I just saw the police contacting your uncle, and he'll find out about this soon, so you need to know some things beforehand."
Gu Beichen frowned, knowing from her tone that something important had happened.
He took Han Xi into the car and followed behind the ambulance.
Han Xi recounted everything that happened back then and today in detail, leaving Gu Beichen stunned for a long time.
He couldn't believe that the innocent little sister who had once stood before them had done so many heinous things.
They didn't know that she had given birth seven years ago, nor did they know that she had been hurting Snow White behind her back.
It wasn't until four years ago, when the harm she caused Han Xi was exposed, that people realized just how wicked she really was.
But what is unacceptable is her behavior today; she is utterly unfit to be a human being.
"Don't let your uncles know about the child's existence, so as not to upset your family."
"How could she... The child is so pitiful!"
He was initially saddened by her death, but after hearing these things, Gu Beichen truly wished he didn't have such a heartless and insane sister.
Han Xi was also feeling bad, and now all she could do was ask her family to minimize the damage.
"Beichen, you have to be strong. From now on, this family will depend on your support and to comfort your aunt and uncle."
Gu Beichen nodded heavily: "Don't worry, I understand that, and I know how to explain it to them."
The car drove back to the hospital, and just as they took Gu Hanxi to the morgue, Gu Hongyi and his wife rushed over. Upon seeing their daughter's body, Ding Shan collapsed to the ground.
Gu Hongyi helped his wife slowly forward, looking at his beloved daughter lying there in disbelief.
Moreover, he has been pulling strings everywhere lately, and there is hope that he can get her released from prison early.
