Chapter 226 Easy to Understand
Han Xi retreated to the doorway, and Shen Jiheng followed, wearing a sincere expression that made Han Xi facepalm.
Seeing him approach, Han Xi reached out to stop him.
“You’ve exceeded the limit; it will become a burden for me.”
"I'll stop here. You should get some rest."
Shen Jiheng was simply reluctant to part with her; he wanted to see her even for a second.
Thankfully, he understands things quickly and doesn't make things difficult for me.
Compared to the Shen Jiheng of the past who insisted on challenging him to a duel, the current Shen Jiheng, who is reasonable, is much easier to deal with.
Han Xi nodded and left, still able to feel the intense gaze on his back.
Han Xi felt that the things in her hands were very heavy because the feelings that Shen Jiheng had entrusted to them were very heavy.
Back in her room, Han Xi opened the box again and saw the necklace that she had fallen in love with at first sight. She didn't know if it was the right thing to do to accept it.
At that moment, a voice in her ear told her not to miss it, and she was following her heart.
Shen Jiheng took a deep breath; he knew that the day he had been waiting for was not far off.
The next morning.
After having breakfast with the children, Han Xi prepared to go to the hospital to visit Ding Shan. Just as she was about to get into the car, Shen Jiheng followed.
"I'll go with you."
Han Xi shook her head: "I think we should forget it. She's emotionally unstable right now. If she sees you, she'll definitely be even less willing to communicate with me."
Shen Jiheng said, "Then I won't go in. I want to hear the details of the matter so that I might be able to find some clues."
Han Xi knew he was smart; if he could find something unusual in the conversation, that would be quite good.
"Alright, you stay outside then, and no matter what we say inside, don't come out."
Han Xi said these words because of Gu Hongyi's request.
Logically, Ding Shan shouldn't be meeting with others at this time, but she agreed to let Han Xi come and find out the truth because she knew the situation was special.
Since the incident yesterday at noon, Gu Hongyi has not mentioned it at all. Even when Ding Shan woke up, he did not ask her any questions, fearing that his wife might do something rash again.
Gu Hongyi still believes his wife has mental problems and doesn't believe she really wanted to hurt so many innocent people.
Shen Jiheng nodded and reminded her after getting into the car.
"Han Xi, this matter is very serious. Have you thought about the two possible outcomes that await her?"
Han Xi looked at him and understood what he meant. Regardless of whether Shen Jiheng would intervene or not, the rest of the Shen family would not let this matter rest.
"According to my uncle and brother, they plan to send my aunt to a mental hospital, naturally because they don't want her to go to jail."
“These things are not something they can solve. I will arrange for someone to examine her and will not give her any chance to take advantage of the situation.”
After Shen Jiheng finished speaking, his expression turned solemn. In order to give the Shen family justice, he had to do this.
However, this would offend the Gu family. He is now living in the Gu family's house, and if things get out of hand, it would affect his relationship with Han Xi.
Who could have imagined that such a tragedy would occur at a perfectly good birthday banquet, and that it would even affect the future development of the two of them?
If he lets Ding Shan go, the others probably won't let him go either.
Han Xi understood his situation and nodded, saying, "Just follow your opportunity. As for the rest, I will communicate with you."
This matter is somewhat related to her, and Han Xi cannot remain uninvolved.
Shen Jiheng nodded, giving her a grateful look; at least she hadn't shown favoritism.
Han Xi arrived at the hospital feeling depressed, as she was about to face the murderer who had attempted murder.
She knocked on the door of the ward and winked at Shen Jiheng outside the door before going in first.
When Gu Hongyi saw her stand up, he managed a weak, helpless smile on his solemn face.
"Han Xi is here."
Han Xi nodded in acknowledgment. Seeing Ding Shan on the hospital bed, bound by ropes and unable to move, and noticing her disheveled hair, he could easily guess what had happened.
Gu Hongyi said awkwardly, "Your aunt lost control of her emotions and was making a scene. We were worried that she might be in danger, so the doctor used this method."
Han Xi sighed and asked, "Is she able to talk now?"
Gu Hongyi said with difficulty, "No matter what I say to her, she gives irrelevant answers and argues with me. How is the situation with the Shen family? Is it stable?"
Gu Hongyi felt guilty. He was originally happy for his wife's recovery, but he never expected that she would give him such a fatal blow that he could barely withstand it.
Ding Shan's antics a while ago had already exhausted him, but this time she came up with something even more ruthless, almost killing him.
He also agreed with the idea of making longevity cakes and even helped persuade his elderly mother, so he also bears some responsibility.
Seeing his troubled expression, Han Xi comforted him, "Everything has stabilized and there's nothing serious. I came here not only to ask your aunt about something important, but also to ask you if you've seen her contacting any outsiders lately."
Gu Hongyi was in charge of many company affairs and spent most of his time at the company. When he heard what Han Xi said, his mind went blank and he couldn't think of anything.
"I don't have any recollection of her, but I felt that she was more diligent than usual, and I didn't see her meeting with outsiders or making phone calls."
If that's what he said, then that must be someone Ding Shan knew outside.
“Uncle, this matter is more complicated than it appears on the surface. It’s possible that someone is manipulating Auntie, and she’s just a pawn in someone else’s game. If you come up with any clues, be sure to tell me.”
Gu Hongyi also tensed up when he heard this. His wife was indeed easily taken advantage of when she was in a daze.
"Han Xi, if that's really the case, we must find the bad guy behind it all."
Han Xi nodded firmly: "Of course, I'll try to communicate with my aunt now to see if I can find any important clues."
Gu Hongyi led her to the bedside. Han Xi's gaze fell on the blood-stained gauze and she frowned, saying, "Her wound has reopened."
Gu Hongyi said helplessly, "We've changed her twice before dawn, this is the fifth time. She keeps struggling, and the wound keeps reopening after it's been bandaged."
If there were no other way, we wouldn't let things continue like this.
The doctor originally planned to give her a sedative, but Gu Hongyi knew that Han Xi had something to ask her, so he temporarily put it aside.
"Uncle, may I talk to her alone?"
"Okay, I'll go get something to eat first. You keep an eye on her for me."
Han Xi nodded slightly, noticing how much older he had aged, and felt sorry for him having encountered such unpleasant things.
Only the two of them remained in the ward. Han Xi looked her over for a moment and then spoke.
“I know you are conscious right now. Tell me why you did this, and who told you to poison the Shen family.”
Ding Shan remained silent, which was within Han Xi's expectations. She continued, "Do you think you'll get away with it if you don't speak? Based on what you've done, it's enough to put you in prison for life."
Han Xi sat by the hospital bed, seeing that she remained unmoved, sighed and said, "I just feel sorry for my uncle and brother. What did they do wrong that they should bear the consequences for what you did?"
Hearing this, Ding Shan finally reacted, staring at her with hostile eyes, and gritted her teeth, saying, "I did these things, what does it have to do with them?"
Han Xi said, "At the time, the father and son approved of you sending the birthday cakes over, so in a sense, they were accomplices."
