Chapter 264 Don't Avoid the Problem

Chapter 264 Don't Avoid the Problem

Shen Jiheng strongly suspected that Han Xi was deliberately tormenting him, and that he was deliberately avoiding him even though he clearly understood his feelings.

Even though her body could accept him, she was still so stubborn, leaving her completely helpless.

Seeing that she didn't answer, Shen Jiheng had no choice but to take the initiative to start a conversation and pulled her to the middle of the dance floor.

"It's rare for me to have time to relax, so come dance with me."

Since the poisoning incident at the last birthday banquet, Han Xi has been in a state of high tension.

Adding to her woes, the company is now facing internal problems, which has made her even more depressed, though she is trying to appear calm.

Shen Jiheng held this ball to help Han Xi relax.

"But I'm a little tired and don't want to jump."

As soon as he finished speaking, a clear laugh came from behind him: "Brother Ji Heng, since Miss Han doesn't want to jump, then I'll go with you."

Han Xi turned her head, and Bai Xue walked forward with a smile. She was wearing a black halter dress and had exquisite makeup, showing both playfulness and femininity.

Bai Xue then looked at Han Xi with a smile and said, "Miss Han looks beautiful tonight. You and Brother Ji Heng are a perfect match. He was worried that you wouldn't come and was going to ask me to be his dance partner."

To be honest, Shen Jiheng spent the afternoon sending messages to Bai Xue.

Han Xi said coldly, "Since you already have plans, why bother..."

Han Xi stopped herself in time, almost blurting out some words. If she complained to his face, wouldn't that prove she was jealous?

She truly loathed making such mistakes in relationships, and even today she still gets annoyed by them.

Shen Jiheng could tell from her expression that she had misunderstood, so he explained, "Some people from the Shen family are also attending tonight, and Bai Xue happens to be there too. I was thinking that if you didn't come tonight, she could act as your dance partner to prevent others from getting close."

Han Xi laughed and said, "These are all your business, you don't need to explain them to me."

Shen Jiheng leaned closer to her and asked, "Are you jealous?"

This earned him a glare from Han Xi, who gestured with her chin towards the rest area ahead.

"I'm a little tired, so I'll go to the rest area first. You have so much energy, so you can dance slowly with Miss Bai."

If Han Xi had known he already had other plans, she wouldn't have come all this way.

Shen Jiheng wanted to follow, but Bai Xue stopped him.

"Brother Ji Heng, I really like this music, will you dance with me?"

Shen Jiheng angrily shook off her hand and questioned, "Who told you to talk nonsense in front of Han Xi?"

Bai Xue looked innocent and replied with a wronged expression, "Brother Ji Heng, what did I do wrong? I just came over out of curiosity when I saw you guys not dancing on the dance floor, and I happened to hear Miss Han say that she was very tired."

"Then don't even mention inviting you. It was clearly you who brought it up, just to save face in front of everyone. How did it become something you're showing off?"

Shen Jiheng's tone made Bai Xue look hurt. She wanted to get closer to Shen Jiheng, but now she didn't even have the chance to touch him.

Shen Jiheng now follows Han Xi around every day, oblivious to everyone else.

"I'm sorry, Brother Ji Heng. I thought these were things I was proud of, but I didn't expect you to treat them as bragging. From now on, I won't mention anything to Miss Han."

Shen Jiheng glared at her irritably and said, "You'd better stay away from her from now on!"

After saying that, she turned and walked towards the rest area without looking back, leaving Bai Xue clenching her fists tightly.

Shen Jiheng found Han Xi sitting in the corner. He took a deep breath, walked over, and sat down next to her without making a sound.

Han Xi turned her head away and ignored him, but Shen Jiheng grabbed her hand directly.

Han Xi frowned as he stared at the paw and said, "You've gotten quite bold lately, daring to hold my hand without my permission."

"After I ask, will you agree?" Shen Jiheng asked in return.

Han Xi withdrew his hand and replied coldly, "Of course not."

Shen Jiheng said with a wry smile, "You said you wouldn't, so I had no choice but to shamelessly come to you. I often get scolded by you, but I just grit my teeth and bear it."

Han Xi was amused and couldn't help but tease, "I really didn't expect you to have such a hard time. If that's the case, you might as well give up sooner rather than later."

"The word 'give up' doesn't exist in my dictionary, Shen Jiheng. I will wait until the day you open your heart again."

Shen Jiheng looked resolute, demonstrating his determination to Han Xi.

Han Xi coughed lightly and said, "You really know how to talk a good game. You've already found a backup plan. If I hadn't come, would you all be dancing with someone else on the dance floor right now?"

Shen Jiheng was both amused and exasperated. He held her shoulders and turned her around to face him.

"Han Xi, I told you you were jealous but you wouldn't admit it. Is it shameful for you to fall in love with me again?"

Han Xi tried to shake his hand off, but he only gripped it tighter.

"Stop avoiding this question, just tell me now."

Han Xi stood up and forcefully pushed his hand away. If he admitted it, would the next step be to get back together and then remarry?

He's pursuing her now, so he's willing to do anything for her. But what about in the future?

Han Xi had no confidence in this at all, and could only maintain this pride in order to attract him to stay by her side.

"I'm tired, I'll go back first. You enjoy yourself."

Shen Jiheng rubbed his forehead. Why was Han Xi still unwilling to give him a chance? What was she struggling with?

By the time he came to his senses and chased after Han Xi to the door, Han Xi had already left in a car.

I wanted to get closer to her, but she left instead.

Outside the window, traffic flows and neon lights flash.

Han Xi's conflicted expression was reflected in the car window. She sighed softly and leaned back in her seat.

She left in such a hurry because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to withstand Shen Jiheng's questioning and would eventually reveal all her feelings.

A message popped up in his bag. Shen Jiheng sent a few simple words: Not coming back tonight!

Han Xi silently put down her phone, perhaps her attitude had already made him back down.

It doesn't matter; if you can't handle the relationship, you should let it go.

When she returned to the Gu family home, the two children stared at her with wide eyes.

Han Yuxuan excitedly circled around her twice and said happily, "Wow, Mom, you're so beautiful! You look like a big star."

Han Yumo thought for a moment and then uttered two words: "Fairy!"

Compared to the lively dance party, Han Xi prefers the warm atmosphere at home; her children are her safe haven.

Han Xi extended her hand to the two children and said gently with a smile, "Then, our two lovely children, could you dance with me?"

Grandma Gu immediately turned on the stereo and called Grandpa over as well.

"We're joining in too; today is our Gu family dance party."

Hearing the music, Han Yuxuan ran to the middle and jumped up, waving her little hand to beckon Han Xi over.

"Mom, come quick! We haven't danced together in ages!"

Han Xi led her daughter forward. Seeing the happy smiles on her family's faces, she realized that this was what she truly valued most, and she shouldn't be troubled by matters of the heart anymore.

At 10 p.m., the two children were so excited from playing that they fell asleep immediately. Han Xi closed the door and quietly left.

She turned around and saw that Shen Jiheng's room across the street was dark; he really hadn't come back.

Han Xi, who was supposed to go back to her own room, found herself walking into Shen Jiheng's room against her will. She hesitated for a moment before turning on the light, and the empty room gave her a heartbreaking feeling.
