Chapter 293 Innocent Victims
Han Yue clasped his hands together and begged her to help him. He was determined not to raise the child, but he also didn't want to give up his assets in the divorce.
Han Xi looked at the indictment in his hand with a headache and said clearly, "Although she is in jail now, she enjoys the same human rights as you. You must separate the property."
"Then you should help me find a way. I can give her 10%, which would be more than enough."
Ever since Han Yue realized he had been deceived, he felt resentful whenever he thought about the woman and the child.
If it weren't for their constant encouragement, his relationship with Han Xi wouldn't have become so strained.
"According to normal laws, this is not something you can control."
“Then let’s take the crooked path. I know you have the ability to do this. I’ve heard that some lawyers are very good at this kind of thing.”
Han Xi handed the indictment back to him and pointed to the door.
“Since you’ve already inquired about it, then go find the kind of lawyer you mentioned. That won’t work with me, and I won’t let the lawyer I introduce to you do those things.”
"Why are you still so stubborn? This woman killed your mother and tried to harm you several times. Do you want me to give her my property?"
Hearing this, Han Xi got even angrier and said angrily, "How dare you bring this up? If it weren't for what you did back then, how could she have had the chance? The root of all this is you."
Han Yue patted his chest and nodded.
“I admit I was wrong about that. I just want to tell you that she doesn’t deserve a single penny from me.”
Han Xi fell into deep thought. Logically speaking, Ji Qing was guilty of murdering her mother and was only after money. She was not qualified to compete for the property.
Seeing her wavering, Han Yue said, "I know you are kind-hearted, but this kind of person doesn't deserve sympathy. If we really give her half of the property, how will those people view this matter in the future?"
Han Xi took a deep breath. From a lawyer's perspective, Han Yue's words were obviously selfish and didn't count. But from a family member's perspective, he wasn't wrong.
"The law is meant to uphold fairness, but I can consider what you said. We'll talk about it again when I see her tomorrow."
Seeing that things could still be resolved, Han Yue decided to stop while he was ahead.
"Okay, then I'll let you make the arrangements. I trust you can make a wise choice."
"Go back and wait for my message."
Compared to this case, seeing him would annoy Han Xi more, and she needed to think carefully.
Han Yue nodded: "I'll go back now. Remember the deadline on this. You only have three days."
Han Xi rolled her eyes at him; she could see it with her own eyes, she didn't need him to remind her.
Han Xi then left with peace of mind. He knew Han Xi's personality well; as long as she was willing to take on the task, there would definitely be no problem.
The office finally quieted down, but Han Xi's mind was far from calm.
Shen Jiheng called her around 3 p.m., telling her to come home right away.
Han Xi realized something was wrong and immediately packed her things to go back. When she saw Han Chuang carrying a suitcase at the door, she felt both headache and heartache.
Han Chuang, who was chubby and healthy just two months ago, has become so thin that he is almost unrecognizable.
His hair covered his eyes, his head hung low, and he looked lifeless and lacked confidence.
Shen Jiheng leaned against the iron gate and said, "I was passing by to bring some snacks back for the children when I saw this kid standing at the gate. I asked him to come in, but he refused, insisting that he had to wait for you."
Han Xi felt a pang of sadness. Han Chuang looked up and saw her, his eyes brimming with tears as he called out, "Sister!"
The word "simple" seemed to be a shackle that bound Han Xi.
In the past, Han Yue and Ji Qing, mother and daughter, always wanted to kill her. Every time she went back, they were fierce and menacing. However, Han Chuang would always call her "sister" when he saw her.
Han Chuang put down his suitcase, walked over, and grabbed her hand, bursting into tears.
“Sister, Dad kicked me out. He doesn’t want me. My uncles and the others also say I’m a wild child and won’t let me into the house.”
He's just a seven or eight-year-old child; he shouldn't have to bear the consequences of an adult's mistake.
Han Xi took a deep breath and said, "Don't cry, come inside with me first."
When Han Xi reached out to take his hand, she noticed that his arm was purple, and upon closer inspection, his neck was also red.
She immediately lifted Han Chuang's sleeve and saw rows of shocking whip marks. She pulled open his collar and saw the bruises on his body. Tears welled up in her eyes and fell.
"Who...who hit this?"
Han Chuang lowered his head and remained silent, a sight that even Shen Jiheng behind him couldn't bear to watch.
"Kid, if you've been wronged, just tell your sister. She'll take care of these people for you."
Han Chuang shook his head and refused to say, which made Han Xi anxious.
She could guess Han Yue's bad temper; he must have bullied him a lot. It seemed she really couldn't let him raise him any longer.
Han Xi led him into the house, and Han Chuang suddenly hugged her.
"Sister, am I going to be sent to an orphanage? Can I not go? Can I come with you? I can go to boarding school. I can come back once a month, no, once every six months."
Han Xi had no feelings for him before, but now that she is a mother, she was heartbroken after hearing his words.
Han Xi took a breath to stay calm and smiled as she placed her hands on his shoulders.
"Don't worry, stay here for now. As for your situation, it's up to your parents to decide, not me."
Han Chuang watched her lower her head longingly, and could only hold her hand tightly and follow behind.
Han Xi turned around and exchanged a glance with Shen Jiheng; this was the real trouble.
Upon entering the living room, Han Yuxuan saw her mother holding the hand of a little boy as they curiously approached.
"Mom, who is this?"
Han Xi replied without hesitation, "This is my younger brother, your uncle."
Han Chuang's eyes lit up instantly. Although no one in the Han family would admit Han Chuang's identity, Han Xi spoke up without hesitation.
Han Yuxuan's eyes lit up when she heard this, and Han Yumo beside her also looked very curious.
Han Yuxuan ran up to him and looked him over, but Han Chuang hid back in fear.
"Uncle, then come play with us."
Seeing that Han Yuxuan was about to pull him away, Han Xi immediately stopped him.
"Yuxuan, please wait a moment while Mom goes to give him a bath and change his clothes."
Han Xi also wanted to check his injuries to see which wounds needed medicine.
Han Yuxuan said happily, "Then I want to go too."
The boys naturally have different vibes. Although Han Yuxuan still loves his younger sister the most, he seems particularly excited when other boys are around.
Han Xi winked at Shen Jiheng and said, "Yu Xuan is in such good spirits, why don't you go play football with him in the yard?"
Shen Jiheng nodded knowingly: "Okay, call me when you're done."
Before Han Yuxuan could refuse, she grabbed his arm, lifted him up, and took Han Yumo out to play as well.
Han Xi looked at the panicked Han Chuang and said, "Don't be nervous, they are my children. I will formally introduce them to you later."
Han Xi noticed that he wasn't in the right state of mind, so she wanted to tidy him up before introducing him to the child.
Han Chuang nodded obediently and followed her upstairs, but hesitated a little when he reached the bathroom door.
