Chapter 79 Worthless
Han Xi walked out, and Shen Jiheng followed with a coat, quickly stepping forward to drape it over her shoulders.
Han Xi stopped and looked at him. It was time to understand why his attitude had suddenly changed last night. It turned out that his white moonlight had returned.
But now his gaze has softened, probably because he's thinking about the baby in her belly.
"Don't you have any questions?"
Shen Jiheng waited all day, but in the end, he had to say it himself.
Han Xi was heartbroken because of Gu Hanxi, and just as her wounds were beginning to heal, the real empress returned, destined to drive her away.
What should I ask?
Shen Jiheng gritted his teeth: "Didn't you see those reports? Aren't you going to ask me why, or the identity of the woman in the photos?"
Han Xi smiled dismissively. How could this person speak so ridiculously?
"Why should I ask? I'm just curious about something."
Shen Jiheng's anger, which had been building up all day, finally flared up in his chest. He asked unhappily, "What's the problem?"
"You're so dashing and charming outside, and whatever your feelings are in keeping me by your side, I'm willing to step aside. Why make things difficult for me?"
Now Han Xi has become the laughing stock of the whole city, with people saying that her husband has a new woman outside and mocking her as a resentful wife of a wealthy family.
Shen Jiheng couldn't possibly have missed these comments; isn't it all because of him that he suffered?
Since he wants to be a womanizer, why force her to stay by his side? Han Xi is willing to give up her position, so why can't he let go?
All Han Xi wants is a divorce; why should he keep pestering her?
Shen Jiheng stubbornly insisted, "I said I wouldn't get a divorce."
Han Xi was enraged by his attitude and finally let out the anger she had been holding in all day.
"If you truly kept your promise, you wouldn't do such a shameless thing, flirting with other women outside and then coming home to pretend to be a good husband. Don't you find that disgusting?"
Shen Jiheng froze for a moment; it had been so long since he'd heard her swear.
"No matter what you say, divorce is impossible."
"You are so selfish and only care about your own happiness and comfort, without considering my feelings at all."
Shen Jiheng grabbed her hand angrily and said, "Those reports are all exaggerated. Xue'er and I are completely innocent."
Han Xi shook off his hand and stepped back, her eyes filled with disappointment.
"You call her so affectionately. Last time you said she was the important person, right? Shen Jiheng, you really disappoint me. Is it fun to keep two women hanging on like this? You should act like a man and resolve this issue honestly."
Shen Jiheng sighed, realizing that things were not as she had imagined.
Bai Xue was indeed his childhood sweetheart, someone he had always kept in his heart, but he had no other thoughts about her.
He only had one wife, Han Xi, in his entire life, and she just couldn't understand that.
"I don't know how you interpret this, but I've never thought about divorce."
"I haven't thought about it yet. Anyway, I'm making this clear: no matter what it takes, I'm going to get a divorce."
Shen Jiheng frowned. The friendly relationship that the two had worked so hard to build collapsed because of Bai Xue's appearance.
Before he could even explain the reason, Han Xi sentenced him to death.
"Do you want your child to be born without a father?"
“I believe my child doesn’t need a father like you, and I don’t want him to be like you, juggling multiple women in the future. I want him to be decisive in his work and sincere in his life.”
Han Xi belittled him to the point of worthlessness, and Shen Jiheng's heart trembled.
Shen Jiheng, who was high above everyone else, was thrown into the mud by Han Xi.
"So I am so worthless in your heart."
"Good to know. If you don't want to spend the rest of your life in these verbal battles, you'd better make a decision soon."
"Then give up on that idea. I still won't let you go."
Han Xi was so angry she wanted to slap him twice. What was it about her that made him so insistent? What was it about her that made Shen Jiheng cling to her so desperately?
Seeing her chest heaving violently, Shen Jiheng sighed softly.
"Okay, stop thinking about those unhappy things. I'll take you for a walk."
Seeing him reach out, Han Xi quickly dodged, "I'm not in the mood, you go by yourself."
After saying that, she ignored his expression, turned around and quickly walked back to the house, locking the door behind her to prevent him from following her.
Shen Jiheng didn't dare to follow closely and slowly walked back to the living room. Old Mrs. Shen stepped forward and patted him on the back.
"You brat, you've made your wife angry again. You're all so handsome, yet you don't know how to make her happy."
Shen Jiheng said unhappily, "Grandma, I'm an adult now, and I'm still the person in charge of the Shen Group. Don't talk to me like that."
"You still know you're an adult? I thought you were a three-year-old child doing such inappropriate things. Your wife is pregnant now, and you've caused this scandal. What are people supposed to think? Do you expect them to happily welcome you?"
Grandma Shen felt sorry for Han Xi and sided with her granddaughter-in-law in this matter.
Shen Jiheng sighed helplessly: "I wanted to explain to her, but she neither asked nor listened. What can I do?"
The old lady wouldn't tolerate him; she immediately retorted after hearing what he said.
"That's because you're useless. You need to find a way to coax her. Women are made of water, and Han Xi is a sensible child. If you hadn't hurt her so badly, would she be like this?"
Shen Jiheng frowned deeply; there wasn't a single person in this family on his side.
The old lady looked at him with a disappointed expression and offered him advice.
"Listen to me, kid. Starting tomorrow, spend more time with her, try to make her happy, pick out gifts that girls like, take her out for a walk when you have time, or even go on a trip. If you can't win her over, you'll be in big trouble."
Shen Jiheng felt awkward, as he had never coaxed anyone like this before in his entire life.
What's more, she's the same woman who used to listen to him at all. This change gives me the feeling that the tables have turned.
I will try my best.
Shen Jiheng went upstairs to Han Xi's door, and knew without a doubt that she had locked it.
He leaned against the door and said softly, "When I was a child, I lived in the Shen family compound. Back then, all my uncles and aunts were there. They schemed against each other every day, fighting for power and profit, and they would even take action against each other."
Han Xi had never heard him mention his childhood. Even the Shen family kept quiet about the past, so Han Xi knew that a lot must have happened.
Furthermore, Mr. Shen didn't even attend their wedding; he was supposedly recuperating abroad. But how can someone go years without contacting anyone? There must be something wrong here.
“When I was in junior high school, the car was in an accident on the way to school. The driver died on the spot, and I was also injured in the eyes. At the time, they said there was a possibility of blindness.”
Han Xi went behind the door so he could hear it more clearly.
“When I was hospitalized, my parents were too busy to come over, and I couldn’t see. A little girl came to my side and chatted with me every day, encouraging me to keep going.”
Hearing this, Han Xi had a general idea of who the little girl he was talking about was.
"You've probably already guessed it, it's Bai Xue. She's the illegitimate daughter of the Gu family, disliked by her father, and bullied a lot. She's been hiding outside and doesn't dare to come back, also to avoid being hunted down by Gu Hanxi."
Han Xi took a deep breath, wanting to stop him from continuing, yet not wanting to interrupt his heart-to-heart talk.
