Chapter 0 Who is whose white moonlight?
It's basically just some simple supplementary explanations about the plot and character designs~ (* /ω\*)
First, regarding the "white moonlight" in the title.
Who is the white moonlight, and who is the white moonlight of the white moonlight?
In the timeline of Driftwood Mountain, Driftwood (the previous life of Yu Qingzhou), as the mountain spirit, is Lan's white moonlight.
This relationship is similar to, yet not entirely the same as, the way Lan Gongzi and Pipa interacted later.
Because besides Young Master Lan, there were many other people around Pipa, such as the arrogant Young Master Li, the cold-faced but warm-hearted Lord Shen, and later Ajiu and Zhuzhu...
Of course, most importantly, Pipa's mother gave him his first impression of love.
Although this maternal love was mixed with too many things beyond her control, and even a little bit of resentment, Pipa has always loved her mother.
That's why he accepted the name Yu Qingzhou.
Just as Pipa wanted to become the "very good and very capable person" that Young Master Lan spoke of, he also wanted to live the life that Yu Rou had hoped for in her teenage years.
But it is also because of Yu Rou that Pipa finds it difficult to develop any additional feelings for her rescuer while living under someone else's roof.
The reason she later fell in love with Li Xiao was largely because she learned about Li Xiao's background and felt a sense of sympathy for him.
In addition, although Young Master Li is impulsive and has an empty mind, he is indeed very beautiful. Compared to Young Master Lan, who exudes saintly aura (from Pipa's perspective), and Lord Shen, who is decisive and ruthless, Li Xiao is surprisingly down-to-earth.
Then, during the Hidden Immortal Sect period and in the modern era, Shen Yun is Yu Qingzhou's ideal woman.
Incidentally, Shen Yingxue and Shen Yun are essentially the same person.
The snake demon who set a trap to steal the Night Demon Pill during the Floating Wood Mountain period was Shen Yun. The snake demon had several heads, and Shen Yingxue was one of the snake demon's faces.
The fate of the snake demon and Xiao is not explained in the main text, but they actually perished together.
Not long after the driftwood disappeared, Xiao, who was searching everywhere for someone but couldn't find them, encountered a snake demon whose body was tainted with the scent of the driftwood. Fueled by both old and new grudges, he became bloodthirsty and forgot about showing mercy. In the end, he carelessly died from the snake venom.
This is why the two of them always get along; they are mortal enemies and rivals in love, and it's hard for them not to fight when they meet.
We've gotten a bit off-topic, let's get back to Lan.
The driftwood is both Lan's white moonlight and his whole world.
Before meeting him, Lan's world was a mess. He was an unwanted monster who didn't know what life was or why he was alive.
Therefore, while giving Lan life, the driftwood also gave him the full meaning of life.
Lan loves the driftwood wholeheartedly and is not bound by a few limited roles.
For Lan, it didn't matter how she loved Fumu; as long as she could stay by his side, even dying at the hands of the young man would be worthwhile.
But the reality is that the orchid is bestowed with eternal solitude.
Later, through Lan Yunzhi's words, he told Pipa the story of the devil in the bottle, and the imprisoned devil actually referred to himself.
God did not kill him, but instead gave him an even harsher punishment.
Lan and Lan Yunzhi are not entirely equivalent; for Lan, Lan Yunzhi is a very good vessel.
At the beginning, Lan Yunzhi died once when he encountered a misfortune. From that time on, a part of Lan Yunzhi was gradually taken over by Lan.
Lan's feelings for the driftwood will influence Lan Yunzhi's attitude towards the loquat. At the same time, Lan also accepts some of Lan Yunzhi's memories and ways of doing things.
Similarly, Lin An is also someone who has a high degree of compatibility with Lan.
However, their inherent personality differences also influenced the way Lan and Yu Qingzhou, as the host, interacted.
After Lan Yunzhi's death, his twin brother (Li Nian) became the vessel to succeed him.
However, due to the latter's extremely strong will, the fight was evenly matched. The result was the somewhat schizophrenic Young Master Lan that Pipa later saw.
Li Nian traces his lineage back to Yun Zhi.
Yun Zhi, as a "treasure" of the Yun clan, has been reincarnating within this cycle. After being killed by Yun Yao, it followed the same mechanism and was born as Li Nian.
The same applies to Lan Yunzhi, who, as mentioned before, is not a biological son of the Lan family.
Lan and Xiao were both saved by the driftwood and share the same source of power.
Therefore, after Xiao died, his spirit was not completely dispersed and entered the cycle of reincarnation. The part of him that was of the same origin (along with his body) was preserved and, by chance, became the first generation of Yun Zhi.
Influenced by Lan, although it was separated from Xiao, it looks much smarter than the original.
Of course, in other parallel universe settings, Li Nian is equivalent to Li Xiao, and Shen Yingxue can be directly equivalent to Shen Yun, except that they differ in appearance and gender.
The "dead" driftwood in the Driftwood Mountain timeline did not actually disappear, but rather fell into a state of slumber.
Until Yu Rou awakened her, she forgot her past and entered the body of a fetus that should have died, and was born as a loquat.
This is the initial version.
Later, Yu Qingzhou, who was Shen Yingxue's junior brother, died and was reborn as a loquat. This was a corrected development, a result of Lan's intervention, but it did not achieve the expected outcome.
There are many contradictory points in the early first-person descriptions, which Pipa believes are self-deception. In fact, they all happened, but the memories overlapped and became confused.
The ending is actually just one of countless possibilities.
Yu Qingzhou no longer clings to breaking free from the so-called destiny that binds her, nor does she attempt to escape into nothingness. Instead, she tries to grasp everything she currently possesses or may possess.
Because he has come to realize that in this great and eternal cycle, nothing is immortal.
Therefore, we are not afraid of separation or loss.
Hmm, I seem to have gone off-topic again, so I'll stop here.
As a new attempt, this story obviously has many shortcomings. Thank you so much to everyone who has read this far! The end! Hope to see you again someday! ヽ(°▽°)ノ
