Chapter 102 Confessing My True Feelings, Even I Feel Pain

Chapter 102 Confessing My True Feelings, Even I Feel Pain

It felt a bit prickly, not as smooth as a woman's chin.

Ji Qingwu's bright eyes were focused on him, her delicate fingertips touching his cheek, as if trying to gauge his reaction to determine if he was in pain.

Her bright red lips were getting closer and closer to him.

Emperor Wusu lowered his head slightly and gazed at her.

Ji Qingwu's hair, which was tied up high this morning, paired with her deep red riding outfit, originally exuded a dashing and heroic air. However, due to a day of fussing, the hair was now loose and disheveled.

She was then pulled onto a horse that was galloping at breakneck speed by Emperor Wusu. Now, much of her hair had fallen down her temples and hung down over her face, which made her look even more graceful and beautiful.

A few strands of her hair, as she spoke, drifted to her lips and clung to them.

Emperor Wusu raised his hand and tucked that mischievous strand of hair behind her ear.

She felt the emperor's fingertips brush against her cool, full lips and press against the soft skin behind her ear.

When he touched her like that, she frowned and hummed, trying to get away.

Emperor Wusu said with displeasure, "Why are you dodging me? You won't let me touch you?"

Ji Qingwu held his arm and whispered, "No." But she didn't let go, clearly indicating that she didn't want him to touch her again.

What does "nothing" mean?

“No…don’t touch me.” Ji Qingwu explained coquettishly, “My face hurts so much from the wind, it will hurt even more if Your Majesty touches it.”

Her exposed skin was red, stinging, and sensitive from being scraped by the howling wind all the way.

Emperor Wusu, however, was not buying it. He suddenly pressed down on her thin right shoulder and pinched her shoulder joint with two fingers, applying a little force.

Ji Qingwu immediately cried out in pain, her red lips panting heavily, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at the man who had struck her so cruelly.

He said in a deep voice, "Fortunately, it's just a fascia injury."

It turned out that he noticed her awkward posture and was checking her shoulder injury.

Emperor Wusu followed her right shoulder and pinched her upper arm in the same way.

Even though Ji Qingwu was mentally prepared, she was still struck by the soreness, and tears immediately rolled down her cheeks.

Emperor Wusu, knowing the answer already, asked, "Does it hurt?"

Ji Qingwu nodded with tears in her eyes. Why did this person always pick on people's sore spots?

A strange light flashed in his eyes, and his tone turned cold: "I thought you didn't know what pain was."

Ji Qingwu wiped away her tears and said, "I'm not a person without feelings, of course I know it hurts."

Upon hearing her words, Emperor Wusu's expression became extremely chilling.

"This hurts? Didn't it hurt when you rolled off your horse? Have you ever thought about how painful it would be to fall off a cliff?"

Ji Qingwu raised her chin and stubbornly replied, "If I really fall, I won't feel any pain."

They went straight to their final resting place underground.

"You're so heartless!"

Emperor Wusu seemed genuinely angered by her words, and remained silent for a long time.

He stared at her with those cold, piercing eyes.

Through his armor, the warmth emanating from his chest was comforting her, but his expression sent chills down her spine.

Ji Qingwu's heart ached from the coldness in his eyes.

In the past, when Emperor Wusu had clearly displayed a colder and more indifferent expression, she was only afraid, but she did not feel this distressed.

At some point, Ji Qingwu could no longer bear his sudden coldness.

She turned her head away, not wanting to see that look in his eyes again.

Emperor Wusu, however, grabbed her chin, his fingers with an undeniable force, and forced her to turn her head, stroking her cheek.

As soon as Ji Qingwu met his captivating gaze, she quickly lowered her eyes as if to escape.

She bit her lip, at a loss, not even knowing where to put her hands.

He must have seen something else, because he angrily opened her hand, frowned, and stared at it for a long time. Ji Qingwu suddenly realized that Li Chengxun had touched this hand. Was he going to lash out again...?

Her fingers curled slightly as she said uneasily, "Your Majesty, Lord Li and I really have no affair; it was just a moment of panic."

Hearing her explanation, Emperor Wusu's expression grew even worse.

But noticing her panic and tension, he sighed and released her, saying, "What kind of person do you take me for?"

Then he wrapped his arms tightly around her soft waist and pressed her forcefully against him. The force was so great that Ji Qingwu could even feel the thin armor on his body slightly embedding into hers.

This close contact, though a little stinging, made her feel completely at ease.

Emperor Wusu's chest heaved as he tried to calm his surging, explosive emotions.

His lips, cool to the touch, brushed against her earlobe.

"I have never been so grateful to Li Chengxun as I am now, grateful that he still has feelings for you and rescued you first."

Ji Qingwu stared blankly at his chest.

The deep voice continued to penetrate her ears.

"You think it hurts when you fall off a cliff, and you don't care, but you're not the only one who will feel the pain."

Ji Qingwu sensed that he was about to say something and tried to look up at him, but he pressed his head down with his hand and held it firmly in his arms.

Emperor Wusu did not want her to see the melancholy and desolation in his eyes.

He sighed deeply and said slowly, "Have you ever thought about how much pain I'll be in, Awu?"

These words resonated in her ears and penetrated every bone in her body.

Does he feel pain too...?

Ji Qingwu wasn't trying to be a hero; it was just that the situation was so urgent that she didn't have time to think things through.

But having done it, she has no regrets.

Regardless of what Princess Qingyun thought, whether it was gratitude or resentment, Ji Qingwu simply wanted to ensure that when she thought of this scene in the future, she wouldn't feel guilty for being a bystander.

But afterwards, Ji Qingwu watched the emperor's figure leave from the edge of the cliff, and felt extremely sad.

The reason she felt disappointed was that she was actually hoping that someone could comfort her.

And that person, without a doubt, was him.

Emperor Wusu looked down at her hands, her palms bearing new calluses from recent riding and archery practice, as well as redness and swelling from being scratched by tree branches.

He lowered his head and kissed her palm; this gesture spoke volumes.

Ji Qingwu's eyes immediately reddened; not only were her eyes burning, but her heart also warmed.

The pain in my heart turned into a tingling sensation, a kind of discomfort and aching, swollen feeling, entangled by my emotions.

Emperor Wusu saw that her face was flushed, her breathing was rapid, and her brows were furrowed, so he assumed that she had been frightened by his expression just now.

He composed himself and asked, "When you turned your head just now, was there something you wanted to say to me?"

Just now, as the horse stepped into the field, Ji Qingwu had a lot to say to him.

But Emperor Wusu's disruption made her thoughts unclear, so she started by addressing the first thing that came to mind.

She said softly, "Why did Your Majesty suddenly appear? You startled me. At first, I thought it was a wild beast that was going to capture me and eat me."

Ji Qingwu's lips curled up, and her bright eyes curved upwards.

She said she was frightened, but her tone was full of coquettishness.
