Chapter 31: Drinking Medicine~

After being displaced all the way, everyone can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that they have encountered such a warm and hospitable village.

Yang Yunzhao took the collected herbs to the kitchen to boil medicine for the patients.

Yin Zhen and her son sat near Jiang Lili. Jiang Lili checked the child's condition and found that the fever was almost subsiding.

"Miss Jiang, I don't know how to thank you!" Yin Zhen saw that Dabao was much better than when he was in the mountains, and she was very excited. She originally thought that the exile conditions were so bad and she was isolated and helpless, and Dabao was going to die.

"Don't worry, don't worry. Wait until the child is fully recovered." Jiang Lili warned: "Remember to stay away from Yang Yunzhao and those sick yamen runners. This cold may be contagious."

Yin Zhen quickly took note of it.

The villagers came one after another to meet the exile team. They were all very enthusiastic, and some even brought sweet potatoes and yam.

After meeting everyone, the villagers went to the side hall. The village chief and Wang Zifu were also in the side hall, probably preparing to discuss the issue of housing allocation with the villagers.

"This ancestral hall is quite well built. The villagers in this village must be living a prosperous life."

"Finally, I can take a break."

"I think Village Chief Yan looks quite friendly. We are so lucky!"

About a quarter of an hour later, Yan Zhong and several young men brought in a large pot from outside. The pot was filled with tea, emitting a faint aroma of perilla.

"This is a specialty of our village. Perilla soaked in water can remove dampness. It can quench everyone's thirst and remove dampness from the body."

Everyone was very thirsty after running and walking in the mountains, and many people came forward to get some water to drink.

Jiang Lili, Xin Che and others still found a place to sit away from the crowd.

Chen smelled the scent of perilla and thought, "Should I get some perilla water for everyone?"

Xin Cheng was about to get up and go with Chen to get it, but was stopped by his eldest brother Xin Che.

Xin Che frowned slightly: "Don't drink anything here yet."

Jiang Lili also nodded: "The villagers here are a little too enthusiastic."

She would have to ask Guan Yue about the situation in the village at the foot of the mountain later.

Little Ding Xinyan also pulled his parents together, his face stern: "Dad, Mom, and Auntie told me not to eat food given by strangers when we are out."

Jiang Lili looked at Xin Yan, who looked like a little adult, and couldn't help but smile and pinched his face.

Xin Yan had been eating, drinking, and sleeping well recently, and her face had become more beautiful. This child was sensible and thoughtful, a world apart from the naughty children she had encountered before.

Chen was lectured by her son and sat back with a red face: "Okay, mother will remember it."

"It's important to be on guard against others."

Xin Cheng felt a little scared when he thought about it: "I've been away from the border for a long time, and my vigilance has dropped."

"Luckily, my brother stopped me."

"Let's see what the situation is first."

Jiang Lili narrowed her eyes and decided to inform her sister Guan if there was any sign of trouble.

Jiang Lili sent a message to Guan Yue in the group, saying that they had already gone down the mountain and had found a village to rest.

Although Guan Yue was reluctant to leave Jiang Lili, she knew that they would see each other again one day.

[@Guan Yue: Which village did you stop at?]

@Jiang Lili: The villagers in Langyan Village are quite welcoming, perhaps a bit too welcoming. What about the villages on this side of the mountain?

@Guan Yue: I don't remember anything unusual. I'll go ask the Second in Command. Get some rest! By the way, are those yamen runners begging you to administer the poison now?

Jiang Lili looked up at Yang Yunzhao, who was serving medicine to the yamen runners, and replied, "Not yet. They cut in line. Let's see what happens."

In the main hall of the ancestral hall, the yamen runners took the medicine brought by Yang Yunzhao with both hands, and expressed their gratitude: "Miss Yang, thank you so much!"

"As soon as this warming medicine entered my stomach, I felt like the coldness in my body was instantly dispelled!"

"This is the golden prescription I learned from the Imperial Hospital, the prescription commonly used by the imperial doctors."

Yang Yunzhao handed the medicine to the yamen runners one by one, smiling gently and dignifiedly: "Brother Wang has gone to discuss matters with the village chief. His medicine is warming in the pot. Please let Brother Wang know later."

The yamen runners nodded repeatedly: "Miss Yang, you have taken so much trouble. We and the boss will definitely remember your kindness. We will protect you on the road in the future, without any payment!"

Yang Yunzhao was very satisfied when he heard this.

The yamen runners all wanted to get better quickly, so they didn't care how bitter the medicine was and gulped down the whole bowl of medicine.

About a quarter of an hour later, Wang Zifu finished talking with Village Chief Yan and the villagers and came to the main hall.

After drinking the medicine, the yamen runners felt warm and hurriedly brought medicine to Wang Zifu.

"Brother, come and drink the medicine~"

Wang Zifu took the steaming medicine bowl from his younger brother and blew on it. "Miss Yang is indeed a former court lady in the palace. She is very thorough."

Yang Yunzhao responded with a forced smile: "You're welcome. You brothers have helped our Yang family a lot on the way."

"Then my aunt..."

Wang Zifu understood and said, "Feel free to use the cart. Our luggage has been robbed by bandits, so we have nothing to transport. We will also take care of your aunt and her family on the way."

Jiang Lili, who was squatting on the side, saw Yang Yunzhao running towards her with a look of joy and concern on his face after hearing what Wang Zifu said.

Jiang Lili felt like she was facing a great enemy, but fortunately the position she chose was in the corner, separated by two or three groups of people, so Yang Yunzhao couldn't get through.

Yang Yunzhao called out to them, concerned, "Uncle, eldest and second cousins, they've agreed to lend us the cart. From now on, you won't have to take turns carrying Aunt on your back on the road."

"I will stay with my aunt and take care of her in the future. Our family will arrive in Haizhou safely and in good order."

Yang Yunzhao hadn't spoken a single word to the Marquis Zhaoping's family in the past half month, but she suddenly changed her attitude today. The Marquis Zhaoping's family was not stupid, so how could they not guess what she was thinking?

But after all, it was a favor, and they were relatives, so Zhao Pinghou said: "Yun Zhao, you are thoughtful."

Yang looked at her niece who had suddenly shown goodwill, sighed softly, and said gently: "Yes, our family will arrive in Haizhou safely."

Yang Yunzhao was relieved to see that Yang Shi had not complained about his indifference for the past half month. She smiled gently and said, "Aunt, are you feeling better? How about I prescribe some medicine for you——"

Before Yang Yunzhao could finish his words, he heard a "crack" in the hall, and the bowl in the hand of a yamen runner fell to the ground and broke into two pieces!

The noise attracted everyone!

The yamen runner clutched his stomach in pain, his hands trembling as he quickly grabbed the village chief's son, Yan Zhong, and said, "Brother, where is the nearest toilet?"

Yan Zhong was frightened by the pale face of the yamen runner and hurriedly led the way for him.

"Wait! I want to go too!"

Another yamen runner raised his hand and spoke with difficulty.
