Chapter 4 Have you traveled through time too?

The wolves with green eyes were approaching.

But Fireworks Gatling isn’t called that for nothing!

After a few warm-up shots, the firepower suddenly increased!

“Bang, bang, bang—”

Intensive firepower exploded, and red, white, purple and yellow flames roared out, interweaving together, shining brightly, and the dark night was illuminated into the blue sky.

What followed was the wolves' howling, and the dense sparks numbed their ears and eyes.

Sparks exploded onto the wolves, and soon Jiang Lili saw that one of the wolves' heads was on fire!

With the fire above its head, the wolf panicked and bumped into a tree, its head tilted and it fainted!

"Hahahaha! Look at that stupid dog!!"

Jiang Lili burst into laughter and pointed to the unconscious wolf to show Xin Che.

The light of the fireworks reflected on Jiang Lili's face. The girl smiled brightly and her eyes were clear.

The anxious time seemed to slow down.

Jiang Lili didn't notice that someone's eyes were full of her reflection.

Xin Che clumsily unscrewed a bottle of orange juice.

He handed it to Jiang Lili, and gorgeous and dreamy fireworks bloomed behind the two of them, warm and grand.

"Wait for me here."

Jiang Liming suddenly realized that Xin Che was about to take action.

These trained wolves chased them relentlessly and could not be scared away. They were coming for them, and if they were not killed, there would be endless trouble.

Jiang Lili's heart also began to lift. She consoled herself by thinking that Xin Che was a god of war who had suppressed a rebellion at the border at the age of sixteen, so he would be fine.

Xin Che, holding a knife, turned around and walked into the grand fireworks display.

This time, perhaps because of the fireworks, Xin Che's figure was no longer sad. He looked majestic, like a god descending to earth.

Jiang Lili was drinking orange juice. The fireworks in front of her were so bright and passionate that her heart was pounding.

In order to divert attention, she picked up the snacks and fireworks on the ground. The fireworks were almost all set off, so she picked some portable snacks and hid them on her body.

Gradually, as time passed, the fireworks burned out, the surroundings became dark, and Jiang Lili's eyes turned pitch black.

The air was so quiet that it made people uneasy.

"Xin Che?"

Jiang Lili couldn't help but shout out in worry, and she lit a star stick for illumination.

There was a rustling sound, and Xin Che walked out of the darkness holding a bloody knife.

"I am here."

He was holding the wolf's tail in his hand.

After being away from the camp for so long, I have to give an explanation.

Xin Che raised his eyes and looked at Jiang Lili opposite him. The light from the star stick was like broken stars falling into the girl's eyes. Her face was gray, but her almond-shaped eyes were shining.

Xin Che's voice softened unconsciously: "Let's go back."

Jiang Lili felt relieved. She quickly put on her backpack and got up from the ground: "Yes!"

The two walked in the night without talking, but the atmosphere was quite harmonious.

As they were about to leave the forest, Jiang Lili spoke and told Xin Che the words she had prepared.

"My sister Jiang Wanyue sent me a letter saying she would send me some food and money tonight, but I didn't expect..."

Jiang Lili selectively recounted her experience after falling into the trap, then elaborated on it: "After falling into the trap and falling asleep, I had a dream. I dreamed of my mother."

"She told me in a dream that I was destined to die, and that I must protect the backpack on my back, as it could save my life."

Jiang Lili felt a little guilty. Would Xin Che, such a smart man, believe what she said?

"Can you keep the backpack secret for me?"

She said in a depressed and pitiful tone: "My father doesn't want me anymore. Now you are the only one I can trust."

Xin Che listened to Jiang Lili quietly, his eyes fixed on the backpack behind Jiang Lili.

He nodded slightly.

"real?"

Jiang Lili was pleasantly surprised that Xin Che didn't ask any further questions and was very cooperative. She held out her pinky finger and said, "Let's make a pinky promise. You are the God of War of Dasheng, so don't lie!"

Xin Che looked at Jiang Lili seriously and stretched out his little finger.

No matter what happened before, at the critical moment of life and death tonight, Jiang Lili chose to stand with him.

When he was completely desperate, she saved him, and that was enough.

Jiang Lili hooked her fingers around his and pressed their thumbs together: "Stamp!"

*

Normally, the exile team would arrive at the post stations along the way at sunset.

However, the further south you go, the worse the environment becomes. The mountains are high and the emperor is far away, the forces are complicated, and accidents occasionally happen on the road, making it impossible to reach the post station on time.

This was the case tonight. The official road they were originally taking was damaged by a landslide and could not be used anymore, so the exile team chose to rest on a hill.

Compared to the silence before leaving, the hills were now bustling with activity.

Jiang Lili and the others could already hear the noisy voices from a distance—

"All the fugitives from the Marquis of Zhaoping's mansion, step out!"

"The fugitives Xin Che and Jiang Lili have escaped! As their relatives, you will be punished as well!"

"Impossible!" Lady Yang, the wife of Marquis Zhaoping, wiped her tears and said, "Brother Che won't abandon us and run away!"

Marquis Zhaoping Xin Chong supported the frail Yang and said, "Yes, the men of our Marquis Zhaoping Mansion would never become fugitives even if they had to die standing!"

Chen, the second wife's wife, said in a hoarse voice, "That damn girl Jiang Lili must have tried to escape, so Brother Che went looking for her!"

"I said Jiang Lili is a disaster!"

"What are you arguing about!"

Wang Zifu was the chief of the yamen runners who were in charge of escorting the fugitives. He lashed the ground with his long whip and said, "Stop talking nonsense. The facts are here! If he ran away, he ran away!"

"Come here, whip me first!"
