611: A quarrel

611: A quarrel

The five program groups selected by the five divisions of the Corps gathered at the Corps’ headquarters: Jiacheng.

A total of 28 people from the Second Division's program team, led by Zhou Ziheng and Chen Shukui, arrived at the headquarters in the afternoon and first settled the personnel into the headquarters guesthouse.

After arranging everyone's luggage and accommodation, Chen Shukui called a small meeting and ordered them not to move around at will. They were to rest and recuperate tonight, and then go to the auditorium of the headquarters tomorrow morning for rehearsal and familiarize themselves with the venue.

The program selection will be held tomorrow afternoon.

The judges included not only leaders from the Construction Corps Headquarters, but also the Northeast Military Region, which attached great importance to this performance in Beijing and sent people to provide guidance.

So the lineup of judges is still very strong, so don’t take it lightly.

In addition, Chen Shukui also found out the names of the programs of the other four divisions. The program rehearsed by the first division was actually a shortened version of the ballet "White-Haired Girl", the third division was a song and dance, the fourth division was a symphony, and the fifth division was an excerpt from the Peking Opera "Red Lantern".

It seems that the art troupes of each division are working hard to get this only spot to go to Beijing.

Facing a strong opponent, Chen Shukui couldn't help but feel a little nervous.

It depends on who will win.

After settling the program crew, Zhou Ziheng and Chen Shukui went to the office of the Corps Grand Master Division Commander to report in, so as to meet the leaders of the General Division Headquarters.

When they arrived there, people from the other four divisions happened to be there.

The Corps' Chief Commander Sun saw that most of the people were there, and basically all the members of the five division working groups were present. He also held an emergency meeting and explained the matter of going to Beijing to attend the agricultural reclamation conference.

After the meeting, Chief Commander Sun learned that the art troupes of the five divisions had all brought their programs to compete for the only spot to perform in Beijing. Now everyone was in a competitive relationship. Although they appeared calm and friendly on the surface, they were actually competing against each other secretly. Undercurrents were already surging in the office.

Chief Inspector Sun smiled and began to act as a peacemaker:

"Friendship comes first, competition comes second. No matter which division's program is selected, it represents our Beidahuang Corps and is our face."

After hearing what Commander Sun said, every household stopped pretending and started bragging about themselves.

The first division launched the attack first:

"Our art troupe's program isn't anything special, just 'The White-Haired Girl.' This program has a broad audience base and is well-received by everyone, which is definitely a big advantage. It's just that it's not easy to stage it because there's such a great performance before, and there's a lot of pressure to compare it to. While I wouldn't say it's exactly the same as the movie, it's definitely not inferior."

The man from the Third Division sneered and said,

"Everyone has seen 'The White-Haired Girl' so many times, what's so new about it? Besides, it's a movie made in the South, and it represents the South. Can it represent our Great Northern Wilderness? Our Third Division's newly choreographed song and dance 'Battle in the Snowstorm' better represents the spirit of the Great Northern Wilderness. Commander Sun must take a good look at it."

The people of the Fourth Division scoffed at the boasting of the Third Division:

"I've heard about your show. It's called song and dance, but it's actually just a song and dance show with little technical skill or artistic appreciation. It's fine for a performance near home, but I'm afraid it's not up to par for the capital. The symphony rehearsed by our Fourth Division is more elegant and majestic."

"Hey, yours is elegant and ours is vulgar?!" The people from the Third Division were furious and couldn't help but start to retort.

The Fifth Division came out to intervene:

"Alright, alright, what's elegant and what's vulgar? Each has its merits. It's best not to argue about this issue. But seriously, when it comes to political correctness, it has to be model operas. For example, our Peking Opera 'Red Lantern' is very representative and can't go wrong!"

“-------”

The office suddenly became a hornet's nest, buzzing with noise everywhere.

They are all like Wang Po selling melons, boasting about their own products, and no one is willing to give in to anyone else.

Chen Shukui frowned as he listened.

I originally wanted to follow the situation and brag about my own program, but with everyone talking at the same time, I couldn't find any chance to interrupt, so I rolled my eyes at Zhou Ziheng helplessly.

Commander Sun was so annoyed by the buzzing noise in the room that he stood up quietly and slipped away when no one was paying attention.

Before leaving, he glanced in the direction of Zhou Ziheng. Zhou Ziheng caught the look very keenly and immediately met the gaze of Commander Sun.

Commander Sun winked at him slightly.

Zhou Ziheng quietly got up and left with Commander Sun, walked through a small door, and went to the office next door.

After closing the office door, I finally had some peace and quiet.

Teacher Sun pointed to a double sofa:

"Director Zhou, please sit down."

Zhou Ziheng waited until Commander Sun was seated before he sat down on the sofa. He was not familiar with Commander Sun from the General Division Headquarters. They had only met a few times in private and did not have any old friendship. So after sitting down, he appeared very dignified and serious, with his back straight, legs together, hands on his knees, and spoke very politely:

"Commander Sun—"

Teacher Sun's attitude was relaxed:

"I heard that your Second Division staged a ballet called 'The Pioneer Sisters', is that right?"

"yes."

"I heard that it was the secretary of Military Region Chief of Staff Zhang who wrote the lyrics for you?"

"yes."

Commander Sun smiled like an experienced fox. How could he not see through Zhou Ziheng's intention in this arrangement? He was just surprised that Zhou Ziheng could actually ask Chief of Staff Zhang of the Military Region to come forward for help. Moreover, Chief of Staff Zhang even greeted Commander Sun specifically and said that he was very optimistic about the ballet of the Second Division.

This made it very difficult for Commander Sun.

If it is true as Chief of Staff Zhang said that this ballet is indeed excellent, it is normal for Commander Sun to be biased.

But if it is a situation that cannot be helped, then it will be difficult to deal with.

Commander Sun is not the kind of person who can't distinguish between the primary and the secondary. It is such an important task to represent the entire Construction Corps to go to Beijing to perform. Commander Sun cannot decide who to send based on his connections.

So Commander Sun specially called Zhou Ziheng in.

Let’s talk about it:

"I've read the program reports you submitted. Honestly, in terms of concept, the Second Division's ballet is definitely the best among the five divisions. You're second, and no one dares to rank first. There's nothing to say about that. However, whether it will ultimately be selected depends on the overall performance."

"Of course, Commander Sun, just handle your business impartially."

In fact, Zhou Ziheng secretly sought help from people in the military region, and his main purpose was not to rely on connections to get this only spot through the back door.

The main purpose is to tie down other divisions.

If other divisions want to use connections, go through the back door, or win over the jury of the chief division, it would be better for the people in the chief division to think about it, so that they dare not be biased.

Zhou Ziheng is not afraid as long as it is direct competition.
