636: If you say this, I will be nervous.
At Zhou Ziheng's command, Liang Qin waved the small flag again and led all the members of the art troupe onto a temporarily requisitioned bus.
When Yu Xiaoye passed by Zhou Ziheng, their eyes met.
Yu Xiaoye suddenly walked out of the team, went straight to Zhou Ziheng, raised his face, and looked at Zhou Ziheng with a pair of bright eyes.
Zhou Ziheng was enveloped by this gentle and bright gaze, and the cold expression on his face instantly melted, revealing a hint of a smile. He asked softly:
"Nervous?"
"Not nervous."
Zhou Ziheng was very proud of Yu Xiaoye's composure in the face of important situations:
"I know my Xiao Ye is the best. After the performance, I will ask my sister to come and take you home."
"If you say that, I'll be nervous!"
Zhou Ziheng's smile deepened:
"Don't be nervous about going to my house, because it's your home too."
Yu Xiaoye became shy for a second and glared at him in reproach. She really wanted to hug Zhou Ziheng, but with so many eyes staring at them, it was inconvenient to do anything. She had to suppress the thought in her heart:
"I'm leaving first."
"Go—"
Yu Xiaoye turned around and was about to get in the car.
When they turned around, they found that everyone's heads were facing them like sunflowers, and everyone had a meaningful smile on their face.
Yu Xiaoye's face instantly turned stern.
Zhou Ziheng also regained his seriousness in a second.
Everyone then turned around and quickly got into the car.
After getting on the bus, Liang Qin confirmed again that no one was left out, and then the bus took the team towards the Great Hall in the night.
Zhou Ziheng returned to his room in the guesthouse and summoned all members of the Corps' five working groups, a total of 25 people. They brought the materials for the meeting and set off for the Great Hall after dawn.
After arriving at the meeting hall, they lined up outside to wait for an inspection. Their credentials were checked, and they were physically examined to ensure they were not carrying any dangerous weapons before they were allowed to enter.
Before eight o'clock, the Beidahuang Corps working group entered the Great Hall and found their seats.
Next to it are the cotton plantations of the Northwest, and on the other side are the rubber plantations of the South.
These three bases were developed personally by Minister Zhao of the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation. They are considered the legitimate sons of the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation and are the largest and most valued in the country's land reclamation undertakings.
The others were smaller state-owned farms in various provinces. In terms of scale and status, they were considered illegitimate farms. However, when the scattered illegitimate farms were added together, the scale was not small, so there were still many people coming to the meeting.
There were about three or four hundred people in the entire synagogue.
At 8:30, the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation appeared on the rostrum.
Zhou Ziheng recognized Minister Zhao Kuanmin, the oldest person walking in front, at a glance.
Although Zhou Ziheng knew Zhao Kuanmin, he had not seen him for more than ten years.
Zhao Kuanmin had been working in the army before and had some contacts with the Zhou family. In 1955, the Ministry of Agricultural Reclamation was established, and Zhao Kuanmin took off his military uniform and became the minister of the Ministry of Agricultural Reclamation, in charge of land reclamation work in various places. The two families had less contacts then.
Later, Zhou Ziheng joined the army, fought in wars, and transferred to the Great Northern Wilderness. He has not seen Zhao Kuanmin for more than ten years.
Zhao Kuanmin had visited the Great Northern Wilderness before, but because of the long distance, the two had no chance to meet, and Zhao Kuanmin may not have known that Zhou Ziheng was also working in the Great Northern Wilderness.
When Zhou Ziheng saw Zhao Kuanmin again, he found that his temples were already gray. Calculating his age, he was almost seventy years old.
It is not easy to stick to your job at this age.
On the rostrum, Zhao Kuanmin, holding a speech in his hand, came to the front row with other cadres from the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation and sat down. There was warm applause from the audience.
The applause died down. Zhao Kuanmin took the microphone wrapped in red silk cloth in front of him, cleared his throat, and spoke in an old but deep voice:
"To all the reclamation warriors from across the country, I am Zhao Kuanmin, Minister of the Ministry of Land Reclamation. Thank you all for attending today's meeting. On behalf of all the staff of the Ministry of Land Reclamation, I extend a warm welcome to you all!"
“Hua La La—”
Another round of applause.
"It has been exactly 20 years since the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation was established in 1955.
Over the past twenty years, thanks to the hard work and sweat of our agricultural reclamation workers, we have transformed uninhabited grasslands, Gobi deserts, swamps, and mountainous areas into fertile fields, making a tremendous contribution to the national economy. We have also achieved significant success in the great cause of consolidating and defending our borders.
The road is tortuous, but the future is bright.
I believe that with the selfless dedication of our pioneers, our future will be brighter.
Yesterday I read the Agricultural Reclamation News, and I was deeply moved by the story about the pioneering sisters from the Greater Khingan Range Reclamation Area.
It is hard to imagine that there is such a pair of young sisters who are willing to give up the superior living conditions in the city and voluntarily go to the border of the motherland, where they shed sweat and youth, and use their weak but tenacious strength to contribute to our land reclamation cause.
I know that there must be countless brothers and sisters like them all over the country who are silently contributing. We may not know their names, but the efforts they have made and the achievements they have made will never be buried by history!
I believe that in the future, countless more pioneers will emerge. On behalf of all my colleagues at the Ministry of Land Reclamation, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to all of you working on the front lines of land reclamation!
“Hua La La—”
The applause became longer and more enthusiastic.
Especially the members from the Beidahuang Working Group, they clapped their hands even more excitedly.
Because Minister Zhao just mentioned their Great Northern Wilderness!
This is a unique honor!
Zhou Ziheng was also upset. He didn't expect that Minister Zhao actually paid attention to yesterday's agricultural reclamation report and specifically mentioned their pioneering sisters.
This is probably what it feels like to accidentally buy a lottery ticket and win the jackpot.
After the applause died down, Minister Zhao continued his speech.
In a half-hour speech
After that, the conference officially begins.
First came the performances, and the first one to appear was the welcome program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation.
Then came the programs selected and sent in from other reclamation areas.
The programs in each place have local characteristics. It seems that everyone has put a lot of thought into selecting the programs.
After several songs and dances, the "Sisters Pioneering the Land" by the Greater Khingan Ranger Corps still did not appear.
The people in the Beidahuang Corps working group were almost blinded by anticipation, fearing that something unexpected would happen and the show would not be able to be performed.
Originally, they did not have high expectations for this show, but they did not expect that this song and dance concert would be so successful. It brought them great honor as soon as it arrived in Beijing. So now they attach great importance to it and are looking forward to their show shining on the stage, so that people from other places can see the style of the Great Northern Wilderness.
After waiting for many shows, the finale show "The Pioneer Sisters" finally appeared.
After the host reported the program, everyone in the venue looked forward to it, applauding and looking up at the stage, paying special attention to this program that had been published in the newspaper and publicly mentioned by Minister Zhao.
