829: The fiery era that will never return

Yu Jiahui and Yu Xiaoye were also agitated by what was said.

"Mom, it's strange to say, I've actually spent more time in Beijing than in the Great Northern Wilderness, but I always feel like I've spent more than ten years there. Over the years, when people ask me where I'm from, I always say I'm from the Great Northern Wilderness."

Yu Jiahui also said:

"That's right, we've been people from the Great Northern Wilderness all our lives."

“So this trip is just a return trip to our hometown.”

As the family was talking, the scenes of their old company seemed to appear before their eyes.

I didn’t feel anything before, but now that I am about to set off to go back, I feel how deeply I miss the Great Northern Wilderness.

Seeing that the whole family was lost in memories, Zhou Ziheng was also moved:

"I want to go back with you guys too."

Yu Xiaoye: "We can't all go back together. We have to leave someone here to look after us. Next time, if there's a chance, I'll go back with you, okay?"

"It's a deal. Take me with you next time. Don't go back on your word." Zhou Ziheng warned fiercely.

"No, I'll keep my word."

As the train pulled into the station, Yu Jiahui said to Zhou Ziheng:

"Xiao Zhou, we're leaving. I'll leave the capital to you. Please help take care of the eldest and second brothers."

"Don't worry, Dad. I'll come over often."

"We're leaving."

"Take care on your journey and come back soon."

"good."

Yu Xiaoye stayed until the end. After her parents left, she quietly took Zhou Ziheng's hand and smiled sweetly at him:

"Brother Heng, I'm leaving now. Wait until I come back with the fawn."

"I will miss you. Go early and come back early. Don't play around there and don't want to come back."

"Hey, no."

Zhou Ziheng bent down slightly to ask for a kiss, and Yu Xiaoye kissed him on the face tacitly. Zhou Ziheng smiled with satisfaction. Yu Xiaoye turned around with his luggage and squeezed onto the train.

Sitting on the train seats, the whole family felt eager to go home, wishing the train had wings so they could fly back to the Great Northern Wilderness and their old company.

After the train started, Xu Ying touched his heart and said:

"Why do I feel like I'm one step closer to the Great Northern Wilderness? Even my heartbeat is different."

Yu Jiahui was a little worried:

"Oh my god, take it easy, don't scare me. If my heart starts beating abnormally, what will happen when we get to the Great Northern Wilderness? Don't get too excited."

Yu Xiaoye whispered:

"Mom, how about we find a deserted place and I'll take you two back to the yacht. You can have some fun there, and then I'll pick you up after a few days."

Yu Jiahui: “Yes, send your mother back, I will accompany you on the train.”

Xu Ying: "Forget it, if you two don't go back, it's boring for me to stay there alone. I'll take the train too. This way I can see the Great Northern Wilderness getting closer and closer to me."

Yu Xiaoye: "Okay then, both of you stay with me on the train."

The family decided to stay on the train together.

The train took two or three days and made several transfers before finally arriving at Mishan Railway Station.

After getting off the train, they saw that the scenery around the train station had not changed at all. There were still those simple waiting rooms and those houses around. Everything was exactly the same as when they first arrived here a few years ago. They even thought they were back in time.

Xu Ying became even more panicked:

“Hey, why do I feel like nothing has changed here?”

Yu Jiahui also felt that there seemed to be no changes here, but he said:

"What changes are expected? We've only been gone for a few years, not more than ten. Besides, after the Corps was disbanded, all the educated youth left. This place has obviously become much more desolate. We'd be lucky if everything could remain the same."

"That's true. Let's go back to the company quickly."

When she thought about meeting her old sisters soon, a hint of girlish pink appeared on Xu Ying's old face.

They were planning to find a bus to the Wufenchang headquarters, but they unexpectedly discovered a bus stop next to the train station. After asking around, they found out that there was a bus to Wufenchang.

Yu Jiahui smiled:

"You said nothing has changed, but hasn't it? There's even a bus service now."

Yu Xiaoye was also surprised:

"Oh yes, there is a bus now!"

"Then let's wait for the bus here."

The family waited for more than an hour and finally got a bus to Wufenchang.

I squeezed onto the bus and swayed for more than half an hour. I almost vomited and finally got off at Wufenchang.

After getting off the bus, I finally saw the familiar Wufenchang field office!

The family stood there, looking at the street scene of the main street with great emotion, looking up and down and left and right again:

“Nothing has changed from before.”

The main street of the field headquarters, the meeting hall, the office, the cafeteria, the sales outlet, the road leading to the field, the streets and alleys, and even every brick and tile on the brick houses, everything is just like yesterday.

Xu Ying had a smile on her face, but tears were faintly glistening in her eyes:

“It hasn’t changed at all.”

It’s not entirely correct to say that nothing has changed. The site is obviously much more desolate than before and not as lively as before.

After the educated youth left, the number of people on the farm suddenly decreased by one-third. There was no one to teach in the school, the tractors were stuck in the fields, no one in the repair shop knew how to repair agricultural machinery, and the cadre team lost a lot of backbones. The entire farm was severely damaged by the departure of the educated youth.

Fortunately, the farm has reorganized and saved itself in the past two years, and moved some companies from remote areas to the farm headquarters. The farm headquarters has barely survived and is slowly recovering.

Because the Eighth Company was relatively large, it was retained and not relocated.

Yu Jiahui asked:

"Should we go visit some friends first?"

"Forget it, let's not go. Many people are not at home at this time. If we go there, we might be kept there and not allowed to leave. It will waste too much time. Let's go directly to the Eighth Company and come back later.

Go visit the field office."

"Okay, then let's go directly to the Eighth Company."

The three of them walked around the main street of the field reluctantly, then returned to the space and rode their bicycles towards the Eighth Company.

When we saw the Eighth Company from afar, we were as excited as wanderers who hadn't been home for more than ten years.

Following the familiar path and turning into the Eighth Company camp, everything familiar came into view again.

The familiar forest, the familiar thatched house, the familiar office, the familiar warehouse, the familiar canteen, all looked the same when they were there.

They could even seem to hear the songs they remembered singing when finishing work floating above the camp, and see the team finishing work marching into the camp in the sunset, with tractors, horse-drawn carriages, and people walking back carrying shovels.

What a red era!

The fiery era that will never return!

Such a scene will never be seen again.

The three of them stopped and looked at the dirt road leading to the fields, and let out the same long sigh.

Xu Ying took the lead and raised her foot:

"Hurry up and go see if there's anyone at Sai Jinhua and Widow Wang's house."

Yu Jiahui and Yu Xiaoye followed Xu Ying to Sai Jinhua's home.

When we arrived outside Sai Jinhua's house, we found that the gate was closed, weeds were growing wildly in the yard, and the vegetable garden was deserted. The peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, tomatoes, and beans were all buried under the grass.
