When the fire broke out, many people looked terrified, knowing that they were going to be burned to death.
Those who had just escaped from the cells did not want to be burned to death by the fire, so they rushed towards the door. Those who had sharp blades in their hands waved their swords at them without hesitation, reaping their lives.
When the others saw this, they were so scared that they didn't dare run outside. They just wanted to find a safe place to hide and see if they could survive the fire.
Just when they thought they were dead, the blazing fire suddenly disappeared.
Yan Bao seized this opportunity and headed towards the weakest point of defense with Zi Yun and the others, calling on the others to join him: "Charge!"
Ziyun roared, and the others followed suit and rushed forward.
Soon, the guards were tackled by the fearless men and a struggle ensued.
Yan Bao dealt with a few guards, and when Ziyun left with Ah Huai on her back, she followed, and everyone went their separate ways.
The guards were still waiting for the fire to engulf the gambling house and burn everyone inside to death, but the fire suddenly went out after a while.
Everyone was dumbfounded.
It wasn't raining or snowing, so how did the fire suddenly go out?
Just when they were about to light the fire again, the desperate group ran away.
By the time the other gatekeepers surrounded the city from the east, south, and west, those who should have run away had already run away. Those who remained were either seriously injured or dead.
The man in charge of silencing the witness was so angry his face turned pale: "Chase him! We must catch him back. I want him alive or dead!"
Yan Bao and the others ran faster and soon met Master Li. Master Li looked at their embarrassed appearance and then at the dirty person on Zi Yun's back, knowing that they had rescued someone.
"The city gates are closed. We can't get out now. It seems we have to find a place to stay inside the city." Master Li took the injured Ah Huai, and Ziyun could finally breathe a sigh of relief. She almost fainted.
At this time, soldiers were everywhere in the streets and alleys. They were the King of Dongshan's men, holding Yan Bao's portrait and trying to capture Yan Bao.
Master Li told what he knew: "Something happened at the Dongshan Palace. A huge fire suddenly broke out. The entire palace was on fire. Many people came to watch the excitement."
Ziyun glanced at Yan Bao.
Yan Bao nodded.
Ziyun knew that no one could start such a big fire except her.
No wonder the fire at the gambling house suddenly went out.
In fact, it was not destroyed, but the palace was burned down.
Ziyun knew that her master had some knowledge of metaphysics.
Ziyun knew about this but would not tell anyone so as not to cause trouble for her master.
Even the master cannot tell you.
When Master Li talked about the fire, he was still frightened. He didn't know which good person set the fire. Now the palace was in chaos. Even if the city gates were blocked, it would take some time to deal with them.
All they have to do is find a safe place to hide.
To be honest, they are not familiar with Dongzhou and have no acquaintances, so how can they hide?
Just as Yan Bao and his companions were hiding here and there, preparing to find an uninhabited yard to stay for a few days, waiting for Ziyun to recover and Ah Huai to feel better before trying to find a way to leave the city, Yan Bao smelled the fragrance of milk tea.
Yan Bao: “???”
Zi Yun looked at the person who was about to walk forward and asked, "Yan Bao, where are you going?"
Yan Bao motioned for them to follow.
Ziyun took a few steps and smelled a fragrance: "It smells so good, it seems to be the fragrance of milk tea and bread."
Ah Huai: “???”
bread?
What bread?
I just want to eat steamed buns now!
Master Li also sniffed. Wasn’t this something he had eaten in the capital before?
When they appeared in a small courtyard that looked clean and tidy, several people couldn't help drooling.
Yan Bao was attracted by a sign hanging on the door, which read, Tao's House.
Yan Bao knew who it was and immediately knocked on the door.
Soon, a familiar voice came: "I'm coming, don't worry, I'll open the door right away."
Tao Yuanyuan opened the door and was surprised to see Yan Bao and his group standing there, not a neighbor, but a dirty and rather disheveled man. She was stunned for a moment and said, "Yan Bao!"
Yan Bao's eyes were slightly red: [Second sister-in-law, this is great, you are in Dongzhou, we are saved! ]
Tao Yuanyuan welcomed them into the house without saying a word. Master Li even looked back and saw that no one had noticed them.
After the door was closed, Tao Yuanyuan immediately served them tea and water and asked, "What happened to you?"
Yan Bao couldn't speak, so Zi Yun explained on his behalf, "We've run into some trouble. The people in the palace are trying to catch us. We're desperate and came here following the scent. If it's convenient for you, Sister Yuanyuan, could you please keep us here for a few days?"
Yan Bao knew that they were in danger, and if they were discovered, Tao Yuanyuan would also be in trouble.
Now they really have nowhere to go.
Yan Bao muttered in his heart: "Second sister-in-law, if you take us in, I'll take you to empty the prince's vault. I can't finish it all by myself anyway. With your space, we can empty it together."
Tao Yuanyuan looked at my three little ones, one big one, and the one who was the most miserable, as if he was about to die.
Facing Yan Bao's pleading eyes, Tao Yuanyuan sighed in her heart: "Okay, you guys stay here, don't go out and run around. I rented this yard by myself, and I usually set up a stall outside. I'll believe it if you don't go out."
Yan Bao nodded and hugged Yuan Yuan excitedly: [Second sister-in-law is so kind. I knew you wouldn't be so cruel as to drive us away.]
Having a place to stay, Ah Huai breathed a sigh of relief and soon fainted. He was too weak. Master Li found out after taking his pulse that his health was very poor and he was afraid that he could not withstand the ordeal.
