Chapter 58 The Prince Arrives

Chief Minister Shen took the Thirteenth Prince to the Shen family.

This was the Thirteenth Prince's first visit to the Shen family. He couldn't help but feel nervous and excited, and he had to act stupid and squint in front of Prime Minister Shen.

Shen Shoufu looked at the child a lot along the way. He didn't expect that he was so good at pretending. He almost fooled him at such a young age.

If Yan Bao hadn't said it, he really didn't know that the thirteenth prince, who was just over five years old, was pretending to be stupid.

Shen Shoufu was kind and honest. He did not betray Yan Bao, nor did he expose the Thirteenth Prince. Sometimes he even helped cover up a few things.

There's nothing I can do about it, since he's my future son-in-law!

Thinking of this, Shen Shoufu was very depressed.

The Thirteenth Prince sensitively noticed the way Chief Minister Shen looked at him, and he seemed a little unhappy. The Thirteenth Prince became more and more nervous, not daring to breathe, for fear of angering Chief Minister Shen.

The Thirteenth Prince knew that he was not liked by others because he was like a fool.

He could only endure it.

His mother said that if he didn't pretend to be stupid, someone would kill him, take him away from her, and bully him.

The Thirteenth Prince was unwilling and could only pretend to be stupid.

Arriving at the Shen family, Chief Minister Shen got off the carriage and watched the palace servants carry the Thirteenth Prince down.

Chief Minister Shen informed others in advance. At this moment, Madam Shen, Yan Bao, and Brother Shen knew that the Thirteenth Prince had arrived. After all, he was a prince, and the Shen family had to give him the respect he deserved.

Yan Bao was curious, why did he come?

Isn’t it difficult for the prince to leave the palace?

Yan Bao only knew what was going on when he saw the Thirteenth Prince. He heard from the palace servants that it was Concubine Li who was worried, and the Thirteenth Prince was also uneasy, so he specially asked the Emperor for grace to leave the palace.

Yan Bao smiled and took the Thirteenth Prince's hand.

In front of his elders, the Thirteenth Prince’s ears turned red with embarrassment, and he glanced at Chief Minister Shen with a squint.

Sure enough, Chief Minister Shen looked unhappy, but he didn’t say anything.

Madam Shen said kindly: "Yan Bao takes the Thirteenth Prince to walk around the courtyard for a while. Mother will go to the kitchen to check and ask them to prepare some delicious food. The Thirteenth Prince can have dinner before returning."

The Thirteenth Prince nodded imperceptibly.

Xiao Anzi saw through it and answered for him: "Sorry for bothering you!"

Madam Shen didn't expect them to be so respectful. She smiled and said, "It is an honor for our humble home that the Thirteenth Prince can stay for dinner."

While the adults were chatting, Yan Bao took the Thirteenth Prince to her yard to play. It happened that she had bought a lot of things yesterday and she almost got lost, but the things were not lost.

Yan Bao can give half to the Thirteenth Prince and play with him.

The Thirteenth Prince said nothing and followed Yan Bao.

Brother Shen thought that Yan Bao could speak, so he wanted to follow and see, and Brother Shen also wanted to follow, but was stopped by Chief Minister Shen, lest their presence make the two children uncomfortable.

Knowing that the Thirteenth Prince would play dumb in front of outsiders, but not in front of Yan Bao, Chief Minister Shen would definitely give them some space to chat.

Brother Shen had to give up eavesdropping.

Yan Bao told the wet nurses not to follow her, and she took out a lot of things, all of which were toys that children liked, including tumblers, wood carvings, clay sculptures, and even food.

"These are all for you. Pack them up and take them back to the palace when you go back. Fortunately, you came out, otherwise I would have to find an opportunity to go into the palace to give them to you." Yan Bao generously shared the results of her shopping.

There were many things that the Thirteenth Prince had never seen before.

For example, the cute, adorable wooden sword that looks like an oyster mushroom, short and cute.

Yan Bao liked them very much and bought several of them at once. He gave two of them that he didn't like very much to the Thirteenth Prince. The Thirteenth Prince's eyes lit up and he held them lovingly.

When Yan Bao saw this, he knew that he was easy to coax.

She also gave him a bag of pine nut candy: "This is for you, take it home and eat it."

The Thirteenth Prince nodded with sparkling eyes, and thought of something. He took out a purse from his pocket, pushed it in front of her, and said seriously: "This is my New Year's money, given by my mother and other concubines. It's all given to you."

"Give them all to me?" Yan Bao smiled and opened the purse to see that it was filled with either golden melon seeds or golden peanuts. The empress in the palace was very generous, and such a purse was surprisingly heavy.

Look at the quality of the gold, it is three nines at a glance.

The Thirteenth Prince nodded and said, "When I have one in the future, I will keep it for you."

"Now that you've given me everything, what will you do when you need to spend the money yourself?" Yan Bao teased the Thirteenth Prince with a smile while holding the purse.

The Thirteenth Prince said seriously, "I don't know how to spend money, but you do. From now on, you spend money on me and buy these."

Yan Bao was amused and laughed heartily. He even patted the Thirteenth Prince's head as a reward: "Well, I know how to spend money. I will be the one spending money from now on. Don't worry, I won't take advantage of you. I will buy things for you."

The Thirteenth Prince held the wooden sword lovingly and nodded: "Yes!"

The two chatted for a while, and the Thirteenth Prince looked at the scars on Yan Bao's hands and asked, "Were you scared last night?"

Yan Bao nodded, then shook his head: "I was a little scared at first, but after I calmed down I wasn't scared anymore. Next time you encounter danger, don't panic, calm down and think of a way to solve it."

The Thirteenth Prince nodded obediently.

Yan Bao looked at his thin arms and legs and asked, "You can't be so weak when you grow up. Does your mother have any way to find a master for you so you can learn some martial arts?"

Yan Bao said alarmingly: "Let me tell you, these days, if a man doesn't have skills, he'll be at a disadvantage. He won't be able to protect his young wife, and he won't be able to get married."

The Thirteenth Prince's eyes widened in fear: "Really?"

Yan Bao nodded seriously, "Really? I'm not lying to you. If you want to be both civil and martial, even if you're not the best in the world, you can't be weak and get knocked down by a punch, right?"

The Thirteenth Prince thought what Yan Bao said made a lot of sense, and his eyes were filled with thought.
