Chapter 109 No one chased her away

Back in the carriage, Zhao Cong kept his eyes closed, and Lin Qingwan didn't know what to say.

It wasn't until they were almost at the Prime Minister's residence that he suddenly spoke up, "Your judgment of people... is truly indescribable."

Lin Qingwan moved her lips and admitted it.

Zhao Cong didn't enter the Prime Minister's residence; he simply dropped her off and left.

Lin Qingwan heard the commotion inside before she even entered the door, so she immediately handed the gatekeeper a silver ingot and said, "Take me in through the side door."

The gatekeeper saw that she had returned in a prince's carriage and took her to the side gate without saying a word.

Main hall.

"Eldest son, although you are not my legitimate son, I raised you single-handedly. Your achievements today are inseparable from me." The old lady stopped with her cane, gritting her teeth.

After a few days apart, her hair had turned completely white, and her face was covered in wrinkles. She no longer possessed the air of pampered elegance and authority she once had, and looked more like an old woman driven to desperation.

"Your second son was born intelligent, but he didn't enter officialdom because he didn't want to overshadow you. What did you promise him when he died?"

The old lady pointed at Jiang Su's nose and asked.

Jiang Su certainly remembered, “Mother, I tried my best. It was you and your siblings who were dissatisfied with the status quo, and you didn’t even consider what kind of people Mingting and Mingyun were, and you kept forcing me to compromise.”

"I refused to help Mingting for his own good."

"He deserves his current predicament." Jiang Su said bluntly.

The old lady was breathing heavily with her eyes closed, extremely angry.

"Without me, you would probably be implicated too. How could you stand here pointing your finger at your son and venting your anger!"

After he finished speaking, Madam Lin slowly added, "My second brother's decision not to enter officialdom is not entirely for the sake of the Prime Minister; it's because of his poor health, and you don't want him to work so hard."

"Your exact words at the time were, 'You raised the eldest son, so even if he becomes incredibly successful, you should share half of his wealth with him.'"

The old lady was furious. "Fine, fine, fine."

"I knew you two were wolves and tigers!"

Jiang Su said, "Mother just said that you raised your son single-handedly. We are jackals and tigers, so what are you?"

The old lady choked, "I'm not going to argue with you."

"Ming Ting is in this state because you refused to help him! If you don't rescue Ming Ting, none of us will survive!"

The old lady's eyes were devoid of warmth; her gaze towards Jiang Su was fiercer than that towards an enemy.

Jiang Su couldn't remember when he realized his mother didn't love him at all. It was probably when he was a child, hunting with his second brother, that his mother only took his second brother away when a tiger pounced on them, but pushed him into the tiger's mouth.

Later, no matter how heartbroken his mother was or how reasonable her reasons were, he could not forgive her.

In his heart, the bond between mother and son had already been severed in the jaws of the tiger.

Jiang Su sneered, "Jiang Mingting can't save her. Mother should just go back and rest after her outburst."

“If you die, you lose everything. If you live, you are still the Prime Minister’s legal mother, enjoying the respect of outsiders and being among the best in terms of food, drink and clothing.”

“If you are willing to give up these things, then your son has nothing to say.”

The old lady knew he was heartless and cold-hearted, but when she actually heard him say these words so nonchalantly, she still felt as if her heart, liver, and spleen were about to burst.

"You heartless and ungrateful wretch!"

"Mother knows her son is heartless and ungrateful, so why is she still causing trouble?" Jiang Su's face was bloodless, filled with a strong murderous aura.

The old lady's eyes were red. She looked at the pillar next to her, steeled her heart, and was about to smash it.

Mrs. Lin was terrified, "Quickly..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Su pounced over and shoved the old lady away with all his might. His neck hit the green stone inlaid on his cane, leaving a finger-length cut.

The old lady was steadily supported by two old women. When she saw Jiang Su covered in blood, she could no longer speak.

Lin took a handkerchief and pressed it against Jiang Su's wound, her eyes red, and said, "Quickly, fetch the royal physician."

Suddenly, one of the maids shouted, "The old lady wants to kill the prime minister!"

I felt my blood rush to my head and I fainted.

Lin Qingwan felt a chill run down her spine after hearing Mu Xue and Qiu Hong tell her about it.

The old lady was no pushover, and Jiang Su was even more ruthless.

"Miss, Eunuch Cang asked Manager Tao to send you some medicinal ingredients." Mu Xue secretly took out the ingredients, her eyes asking if she wanted to take a bath.

Lin Qingwan shook her head, "I've been in good spirits these past two days, and I don't feel any pain."

"I wonder what medicine Physician Zhu gave me on New Year's Eve."

Mu Xue noticed that her complexion was indeed better than before. "Doctor Zhu's strange things are very powerful."

"It would be wonderful if he could cure Miss."

Mu Xue was unaware that Lin Qingwan had an incurable poison in her body, and assumed that it was due to her physical weakness or a lingering illness from the past.

Lin Qingwan lowered her eyes and suddenly remembered Feng'er's New Year's money.

"Take out the red envelope from the young prince, and have Manager Tao deliver it to Eunuch Cang tomorrow."

“I forgot that day, and you didn’t remind me.”

Mu Xue was happy just thinking about the young prince. "Won't the young prince be unhappy if you send him back like this?"

Lin Qingwan frowned slightly. "Even if you're unhappy, you have to return it. What's the big deal in my hands?"

More importantly, she decided to attach herself to the Crown Prince and not displease him.

With Jiang Su injured and the household very busy, no one disturbed Lin Qingwan, allowing her to focus on planning her future path.

The most urgent things right now are, firstly, not marrying Prince Jing and sending him to his death, and secondly, finding the old nanny who had a good relationship with Lady Cheng back then, who might be able to find out the truth behind the assassination attempt.

Lin Qingwan hadn't had a good night's sleep in a long time, but unfortunately, she was woken up by Jiang Zhenlin the next day.

He waited outside for nearly half an hour, watching Lin Qingwan wash and change, showing unusual patience.

Qiu Hong had already told her Jiang Zhenlin's purpose in coming. Jiang Su insisted on announcing her and Jiang Yanwan's background to the public, and told her about the assassination attempt on the Lin family and the heroic actions of the Cheng family. The truth was so real that even Lin Qingwan was surprised.
