Chapter 110 The Sun Rises in the West

Jiang Zhenlin had almost forgotten that he had kicked her, but when he was suddenly reminded of it, his face turned pale.

If it were before, he would have flipped the table.

He clenched his fists and held back, his voice a little hoarse, "I... I didn't mean to last time. I didn't expect you wouldn't be able to avoid it."

Lin Qingwan really hated his explanation.

They clearly lacked self-control and made mistakes, yet they insisted on blaming others.

She scoffed, "That's right, next time you try to cut my neck, if you don't kill me, it's my fault for not pointing the knife at my neck."

Jiang Zhenlin's lips were pressed tightly together, clearly he was holding his breath. "When did I say I was going to chop you up? When did I let you put your neck under the knife?"

Lin Qingwan felt a familiar surge of anger rising within her, but she quickly calmed down. Why was she arguing with a madman about right and wrong?

"Young Master Jiang didn't say it; it was my loose tongue."

"Also, Jiang Yanwan's matter has nothing to do with me. I'm not going. Please leave my courtyard. I need to rest!"

Her scathing rejection was like a bucket of cold water poured over him, leaving Jiang Zhenlin breathless. He frowned and took two steps forward.

Mu Xue instantly stepped in front of Lin Qingwan, looking at him warily and fearfully, "Young Master, please calm down!"

Almost simultaneously, Lin Qingwan took a few steps back, her shoulders involuntarily tightening, her gaze towards him filled with both anger and nervousness.

She's scared!

Jiang Zhenlin realized this, and his heart felt like it was being pulled by something. Images of the times he had hurt her when he lost control of himself flashed through his mind.

It all started the day he kicked her back, causing her to vomit blood...

Damn! He really did a lot of stupid things.

The key point is that he hadn't noticed it before, but now it's suddenly coming in droves, and his mind is completely blank.

Lin Qingwan and Mu Xue both thought he was about to kick the table, but instead, his face turned bright red, and he suppressed his anger, staring at them with a complicated look. After a long while, he finally said hoarsely, "Then, you should rest."

As soon as those four words were uttered, accompanied by his departing figure, even the air seemed to freeze for a long time.

Mu Xue swallowed hard. "Miss, am I hallucinating?"

Lin Qingwan patted her shoulder, her own tense heart gradually relaxing. "Who knows what crazy thing he'll do next."

Lin Qingwan glanced outside. Was the sun rising in the west?

However, she soon realized that her hopes had been dashed.

Jiang Zhenlin didn't cause her any trouble, but her mother sent Rong Ma to invite her over, saying that Jiang Yanwan insisted on leaving.

"This has nothing to do with me. If I go, I'll only be supporting her leaving the Prime Minister's residence, which will only make my mother angrier." Lin Qingwan is not afraid of making the family even more chaotic now.

Rong Ma hesitated for a moment, then realized that what she said made sense. "Madam has summoned you. Please go there and don't fall short in terms of etiquette."

Lin Qingwan knew she couldn't avoid it, so she decided to avoid them coming to her yard to make a scene, as that would be bad luck.

Main hall.

Lin Qingwan stepped into the room and heard Jiang Zhenlin say to Jiang Yanwan, "Sister, I know you are sad, but no one in the Prime Minister's residence is going to kick you out."

"Although it was Father's decision, Mother said that you are still the same as before, a young lady of the Prime Minister's mansion."

"You won't lack anything."

Lin Qingwan glanced at Rong Ma, her eyes still saying, "The sun has risen in the west."

She stepped forward and bowed to Madam Lin, saying, "Mother."

Madam Lin looked unwell and rubbed her forehead. "Now that you're here, explain things clearly to Yan Wan."

"What did you say?" Lin Qingwan asked innocently.

Lin closed her eyes; she really couldn't speak properly from the very first sentence.

"The Prime Minister has revealed your true parentage. Now you are the legitimate eldest daughter of the Prime Minister's mansion. You have suffered for fifteen years outside, while Yan Wan has enjoyed the good life for you."

"Now you're back."

Whether it was a misperception or not, Lin Qingwan noticed that her mother's tone didn't seem as resentful as before.

“Yan Wan is sensitive and feels she has wronged you, so she wants to move out.” Madam Lin couldn’t bear it after all. “She grew up in the Prime Minister’s residence, and it’s not right for her to leave alone.”

Lin Qingwan's gaze swept over Jiang Yanwan, whose eyes were red and swollen, face pale, and back barely straight, exuding a brokenness despite her feigned strength.

She genuinely admired his acting skills, saying that she couldn't match them.

"Feeling guilty?" Lin Qingwan said calmly, "I'm sorry, I didn't notice."

Jiang Yanwan's tears welled up again. "I stole Qingwan's wealth and status. No matter how difficult things get from now on, it's all what I deserve."

With tears welling up in her eyes, she looked up and choked out, "Mother has a headache. Please take good care of things in the manor from now on and let her rest more."

"If it's windy or rainy, rubbing the affected area with medicated oil beforehand and lighting some calming incense at night will help a lot."

"And then there's the food..."

With each word she spoke, Madam Lin's brow furrowed more deeply. After all, she had been cared for day and night for fifteen years, and her eyes instantly reddened.

In his anxiety, he frowned at Lin Qingwan, "Say something! If she really leaves, people outside will say you can't tolerate people. She was saved, after all..."

Thinking of the argument in the courtyard that day, and of her injuries, Lin stopped talking.

In short, Yan Wan cannot leave the Prime Minister's residence.

After the incident at the flower garden, Lin Qingwan became more resistant to her mother's words. She would no longer wrong herself, nor would she waste her energy on things that had no future.

She said indifferently, "My mother is in charge at home. My father didn't say anything about her leaving, and I didn't say a word from beginning to end. How come it's become that I have to ask her to stay in order to not be considered tolerating her?"

"I haven't seen my mother call me over for any other important matters in the Prime Minister's residence. I didn't even know when I had such great power. It was my father who specifically instructed me that all matters, big and small, in the inner courtyard must be decided according to my mood."

Lin's eyes narrowed slightly, sensing that a headache was about to start.

The atmosphere was tense, and Jiang Zhenlin spoke up, "Mother, she's right. It was my sister who wanted to leave; no one chased her away."

The words that Lin was about to say stuck in her throat. She couldn't help but look at Jiang Yanwan, hesitant to speak.

Jiang Yanwan stared at Jiang Zhenlin in disbelief, her face filled with astonishment. Was he helping Lin Qingwan?

"Sister, stop making a fuss." Jiang Zhenlin sighed, seemingly holding back some unpleasant words, and his irritated expression made Jiang Yanwan panic.

She swallowed hard. "Qingwan is so generous, but I can't tolerate taking away everything that should belong to her."

"Back then, Qingwan was just an infant. We shouldn't impose any debt of gratitude on her. Besides... my birth mother treated her badly. As she said, the debt of gratitude has long been repaid."

She sobbed, "I should have left long ago."

She covered her face, "Mother shouldn't have saved me the day Qingwan came back."

When she cried, Lin also cried.

Lin Qingwan stood to the side like an outsider, watching them with a leisurely air.

Her attitude provoked Jiang Zhenlin, who felt as if the sun had risen in the west. He said helplessly, "Sister, can you please wake up? You're going to die if Qingwan comes back. Aren't you just pushing her into the limelight?"
