Chapter 16 As your father, I won't let you suffer in vain.

Jiang Zhenlin felt his enthusiasm dampened and remained silent, pursing his lips.

"Even if Steward Yan is a dog, he is still Prince Jing's dog. How dare you coerce him?"

"Go back to your yard and reflect on your actions!"

Madam Lin felt sorry for her son, "Prime Minister, Ah Lin is impatient, but he is wholeheartedly devoted to the Prime Minister's residence..."

"I'd be burning incense if the Prime Minister's residence didn't fall into his hands," Jiang Su sneered.

Lin hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.

Jiang Su then said, "Someone, go to my study and bring over the things the Prince bestowed last time, and send them to Ningsi Garden along with these two boxes."

Jiang Yanwan gritted her teeth, not daring to show the slightest resentment.

Jiang Su then said to Madam Lin, "Madam, please take the family physician to give Qingwan a thorough examination."

Lin realized that she had misunderstood Lin Qingwan, but when she thought about how unruly and stubborn Lin was, she was unwilling to share a room with her.

Jiang Yanwan saw through her thoughts and coughed twice, covering her mouth. Lin immediately said, "Yanwan is not well yet. Let the physician go to Ningsi Courtyard first. I will stay with Yanwan for a while."

Jiang Su didn't say anything.

After everyone left, only Lin Qingwan and Jiang Su remained in the room.

The deathly silence was agonizing. Even though Lin Qingwan kept her head down and Jiang Su couldn't see the emotions surging in her eyes, Lin Qingwan felt that she couldn't hide her thoughts from him.

Fortunately, the oppressive aura emanating from Jiang Su quickly dissipated.

Jiang Su asked, "Your mother and I both said that you shouldn't accept rewards without merit, so why didn't you refuse?"

This was the first time Jiang Su had looked at Lin Qingwan properly and spoken to her seriously since her return. She deliberately let Granny Lai believe that she had secretly kept the ointment given by Prince Jing, hoping that Jiang Qingwan would have an attack.

As she expected, her mother, Madam Lin, had absolutely no trust in her. The rumors had been circulating in the Prime Minister's residence for two days; her father, Jiang Su, must have been aware of them, yet he only managed to clear his name today.

Therefore, it can be seen that no matter what happens in the inner quarters, as long as it does not touch upon anything that Jiang Su cares about, he will not interfere.

Today, after the rumors were clarified for her in public, Lin Qingwan felt that the person she should thank most was Prince Jing.

She stated frankly, "I suspect my father doesn't want to offend Prince Jing, otherwise he wouldn't have sent me here."

Jiang Su's eyes were dark and unfathomable. "You are very smart."

"I wouldn't call myself clever. I just think it's better for others to criticize me than for them to criticize the Prime Minister's residence. I've been away for fifteen years and haven't been able to share your burdens."

Lin Qingwan kowtowed respectfully, followed by several seconds of silence.

She felt uneasy.

After a long pause, Jiang Su sighed, "Your mother and I never imagined you were still alive."

This is an attempt to shirk responsibility.

"Upon returning, instead of enjoying any blessings, I was burdened with trouble."

"I will not let you suffer in vain as your father."
