Chapter 20: I'm Not Worthy

"But Yan Wan never felt wronged or resentful. Whoever the prince bestows the reward upon, it is an honor for the Prime Minister's residence. Qing Wan has just returned to the residence and should be treated well."

Jiang Su nodded.

Jiang Yanwan seized the opportunity to add, "It's because outsiders have preconceived notions about the engagement that Qingwan has been dragged into the gossip."

"If, if Your Highness truly prefers Qingwan, I am willing to explain things clearly."

There was no one else in the room. She sniffed and said in a voice so clear it was heartbreaking, "This marriage should have been arranged for Qingwan."

Jiang Su looked at Lin Qingwan with a sharp gaze and noticed that she had not shown any emotion from beginning to end, neither good nor bad.

"Qingwan, what do you think?"

These words seem to be supporting Lin Qingwan.

Lin Qingwan glanced at Jiang Yanwan and saw that the other party was extremely humble and seemed sensible and magnanimous.

She sneered, "Since it's mine, I won't thank Yan Wan."

Jiang Yanwan's heart skipped a beat, her fingers instinctively curling as she frantically searched for a solution. She wouldn't give up the position of Miss Jiang, and she certainly wouldn't give up the engagement!

Jiang Su narrowed his eyes slightly, and an invisible sense of scrutiny swept over Lin Qingwan once again.

Lin's gloomy voice suddenly rang out like a sharp arrow, "No!"

"Yan Wan has had contact with Prince Jing since childhood, and the palace has tacitly approved of their marriage. If it weren't for the sudden change three years ago, they would have already exchanged marriage certificates."

Lin's words carried a warning: "This concerns the Prime Minister's residence; you must not harbor any improper thoughts."

"I'm making this clear today: the whole world knows that Yan Wan is the future Princess Consort of Jing, and this will never change."

If gazes could turn into countless cold arrows, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Lin Qingwan was pierced by a thousand arrows.

She didn't care about being a princess, and what she wanted was never to go against her mother, yet she was always being warned and lectured.

Just because Jiang Yanwan was sitting opposite her, her mother disregarded right and wrong, and ignored the reasons.

She would rather upset her husband than let Jiang Yanwan suffer any loss.

Lin Qingwan lost count of how many times she had sneered. "I understand what Mother means. I am not worthy."

Her emotions had almost sunk to the bottom of an abyss, but then Lin said, "It's good that you understand."
