The shopkeeper recognized Jiang Zhenlin and looked on high alert. "Young Master Jiang? Commander Jiang! What brings you here?"
Jiang Zhenlin glanced around, spotted a guest room in the east corner of the second floor with a guard, and shoved the innkeeper aside, yelling, "Get out of my way!"
The shopkeeper pleaded, "Young Master Jiang, please speak calmly. I still need to do business."
Jiang Zhenlin glared at him. "I only went up to speak because I was saving face for you."
If it weren't for Lin Qingwan's status as the legitimate daughter of the Prime Minister's family, Jiang Zhenlin would have loved to smash the inn in half with his sword and kill that scoundrel who took advantage of the situation.
The thought of Lin Qingwan being brought to the inn by a strange man and then being found after so long drove him crazy.
"Young Master Jiang, you can't go up there!"
The shopkeeper not only couldn't stop it, but was also thrown aside. He could only pray to the Bodhisattva to protect the fire god from destroying his shop.
When Jiang Zhenlin gets angry, he loses his mind; otherwise, he wouldn't have failed to recognize the guards beside Zhao Cong.
The closer he got to the room, the heavier his steps became, and the colder his face grew.
The guard brandished his sword, "Commander Jiang, please wait."
Jiang Zhenlin gritted his teeth, "Since you recognize me, hand the person over! Otherwise, don't even think about leaving here alive today!"
The guards exchanged bewildered glances, their faces clearly saying, "Has the young master of the Jiang family gone mad? Coming to challenge the Crown Prince?"
"Jiang Zuoling, calm down."
Before the guard could finish speaking, a cold glint flashed before his eyes, and he hurriedly dodged Jiang Zhenlin's kick, forced to retreat to the doorway.
The commotion drew the attention of many guests. Many of them recognized Jiang Zhenlin and knew he had a bad temper, but he disregarded his status and started a fight here. Who was he looking for?
More people gathered downstairs to watch, pointing and whispering among themselves.
Cang Ying's voice rang out from outside the door, "Master, Young Master Jiang is causing a scene."
It wasn't a big deal originally, but Jiang Zhenlin's actions have turned it into something serious.
Lin Qingwan was extremely embarrassed. "I'm sorry to have troubled you, sir. I..."
Before she could finish speaking, Jiang Zhenlin's voice grew even louder, "Listen up, you people inside! I don't care who you are, if you don't want to lose face, open the door now!"
"Commander Jiang, if you continue to be so insolent, don't blame us for being impolite." The guard prepared to draw his sword.
However, Jiang Zhenlin's eyes were fixed on the tightly closed door, his mind filled with all sorts of indescribable images, and the more he thought about it, the less he could control himself. Yes, why should he be polite? Did he expect him to wait until they were finished?!
The guard was caught off guard and struck by Jiang Zhenlin's palm, and a fight was about to break out.
The guards, mindful of Jiang Zhenlin's status, didn't go all out, but they couldn't withstand his relentless harassment. They kicked open the window next door, and Feng'er burst into tears.
Cang Ying pushed open the door in front of Jiang Zhenlin, and Feng'er ran in and hugged Zhao Cong's leg, saying, "Daddy, hug me."
Jiang Zhenlin was so angry that he was struck dumb when he saw the warm white jade on Feng'er's waist. He stopped moving, but the guards quickly took his sword and took him away.
Zhao Cong bent down and scooped up the child, who was barely knee-high, with one hand. His dark eyes narrowed slightly, flashing with a sharp, cold light. "Jiang Zhenlin."
These three words, shrouded in frost, struck Jiang Zhenlin's ears, leaving him utterly astonished. "Crown Prince?"
How could it be the Crown Prince!
Jiang Zhenlin suddenly realized something, struggled to lift his head, and looked around the room with a hint of anger in his eyes. Apart from a strong smell of herbs, there was nothing there.
What about Lin Qingwan?
The Prime Minister's Residence.
The butler rushed in, "Prime Minister, Madam, Miss Qingwan is back!"
Jiang Su and Lin exchanged a glance and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin said impatiently, "So what if I'm back? What's the rush?"
The butler took a breath and said, "Yes, it was the guard Tong from His Highness the Crown Prince's side who brought Miss back."
Jiang Su's brow twitched. The Crown Prince?
Lin's mouth was slightly open, but she couldn't speak.
Jiang Su reacted quickly, straightened his clothes, and went to the door to greet him personally.
Lin Qingwan still couldn't understand why the guards around the master insisted on escorting her back to the manor and even sent the steward in to announce her arrival. Logically, shouldn't the master have preferred to avoid trouble?
The next second, she saw Jiang Su approaching with a solemn expression and swift steps. Her heart skipped a beat, and the word "father" was already on her lips.
But Jiang Su's gaze was fixed on Tong Di, "Guard Tong."
"This old minister is terrified. How could I have alarmed His Highness the Crown Prince?"
Lin Qingwan's pupils contracted slightly, and her gaze involuntarily turned to Tong Di beside her. Seeing him clasp his hands in a salute, she said, "Prime Minister, there's no need for such formalities. The Crown Prince accompanied His Highness on an outing today and happened to encounter Miss Qingwan vomiting blood. The situation was urgent, so the imperial physician had to treat her first."
"Once the young lady wakes up, I will order my men to send her back, so that the Prime Minister and his wife will not worry."
Lin Qingwan's eyes showed obvious fluctuations, and even Jiang Su noticed her surprise and confusion.
That official was actually the Crown Prince.
So... did he really just happen to find himself in Shuiyuan Town?
Many thoughts flashed through Lin Qingwan's mind in an instant, each one like a whirlwind sweeping across a calm lake. In the blink of an eye, even her breathing became somewhat short.
Jiang Su bowed, "Thank you, Your Highness, for saving my daughter's life. This old minister is deeply grateful."
No sooner had he finished speaking than the servant who had gone out with Jiang Zhenlin to look for someone ran back breathlessly. Too frightened and agitated to even see Lin Qingwan, he went straight to Jiang Su and knelt down with a thud, 'Prime Minister, Young...Young Master...'
Jiang Su coughed lightly, inwardly cursing the servants of the Prime Minister's residence for becoming increasingly unruly, but said aloud, "Qingwan is back, so tell Alin not to look for her anymore."
"No," the servant said, trembling, "Young master... he beat up the Crown Prince's guards!"
Jiang Su's eye twitched, his expression turned serious, and his tone carried a hint of sternness, "What's going on?"
The servant dared not speak, but said urgently, "Prime Minister, please save the young master! The Crown Prince has sent someone to the Prefect of the Capital."
