Chapter 61 Jiang Mingyun's Attempt to Die Fails (shuhaige.net)

Lin Qingwan's hands and clothes were covered in blood, making her dark, clear eyes look like icebergs that had never thawed.

She put down Lin the butcher and closed her eyes for him.

Looking up at everyone in front of him, he felt as if every vein in his body was on fire. "Jiang Mingyun openly poisoned and premeditatedly killed people in the Minister's mansion."

"If someone dies, you must report it to the authorities."

She forced out two sentences through gritted teeth, like a sharp saw pulling everyone back from their astonishment.

"This concerns both prefectures. Reporting it to the authorities will only make us a laughingstock in the capital." Madam Lin helped her son to his feet, her voice still trembling slightly, but her expression was calm.

“A butcher is dead, but if he has family, give him some compensation.”

"Daring to cause trouble at the Minister's residence is simply courting death."

Lin's gaze met that of Minister Gao and his wife, and they did not object.

Upon seeing his sister kill someone, Jiang Mingting immediately shielded her behind him and then added, "That's right, he tried to frame someone important, he deserved to die."

Lin Qingwan's cold gaze was fixed on Jiang Mingyun. Listening to these inhuman words, she sneered angrily, "It's not an accusation. There are witnesses and physical evidence."

"She tried to kill me but failed, so she killed Butcher Lin to vent her anger."

"One is a prime minister, the other a minister, and they killed someone in front of you and still care about their reputation?"

She knew that further words would be of no use, "It doesn't matter if you're all scoundrels, I can ask the Prince to make a decision."

Zhao Yan, who could see clearly from a distance, smiled with his peach blossom eyes, "I am truly happy that she thought of me."

Lin Qingwan got up and walked out, while Jiang Mingting's eyes widened. "You dare!"

"Ah Lin, stop her." Madam Lin's face flushed red with anger, and her eyes were devoid of any warmth.

Jiang Zhenlin reached out and grabbed Lin Qingwan's sleeve, "You go back to me..."

After saying that, Lin Qingwan pulled out her hairpin and stabbed it towards his throat with amazing force and speed. He instinctively dodged, and the strength in his hand loosened.

Lin Qingwan immediately ran out.

Jiang Zhenlin gritted his teeth, "Damn it! They've gone too far!"

Jiang Mingting followed closely behind him, "We can't let her go!"

Jiang Mingyun's eyes were bloodshot. She didn't know where she got the ruthlessness from, but she picked up the dagger on the ground and chased after him.

Prince Jing will definitely help Lin Qingwan. Just kill her, that's all.

Lin had been frightened for the umpteenth time today. "Ah Lin, stop her... no, don't! She has a dagger, she'll hurt you!"

"Help! Help!"

The maids and servants in the inner courtyard had never seen murder and bloodshed before. They were all terrified and ran away when they saw Jiang Mingyun, who seemed to be insane. Who would risk their life to stop him at this time?

Lin Qingwan was entangled by Jiang Zhenlin and Jiang Mingting, and the two did not see Jiang Mingyun approaching from behind with a dagger, which gave Jiang Mingyun another good opportunity to stab Lin Qingwan.

At the same time, King Jing took the bow and arrow handed to him by the eunuch, raised his arm and drew the bowstring taut.

Lin Qingwan's pupils constricted. Jiang Zhenlin saw the dagger reflected in her eyes, his heart tightened, and he suddenly turned around.

An arrow pierced the air and stabbed into Jiang Mingyun's knee with a soft thud. The dagger clattered to the ground at his feet, and Jiang Mingyun's sharp, piercing voice echoed throughout the entire Minister's residence.

"Ah! My leg!"

"Brother, my legs hurt so much!"

Jiang Mingyun screamed wildly, blood gushing from his right leg, and Jiang Mingting didn't dare to go forward for a moment.

Lin Qingwan let out a long breath, feeling utterly weak all over.

Looking down, he found a small pebble next to the dagger. The yard was paved with smooth tiles, so where did the pebble come from?

The arrow was shot from in front of Jiang Mingyun, piercing his kneecap and going straight through the back of his knee.

Lin Qingwan glanced at Jiang Mingyun's exposed wrist; it was red and swollen on the outside, meaning the pebble had come from behind Jiang Mingyun.

Her heart tightened, and she looked ahead. That was the direction of Beiyuan.

Before she could think any further, Prince Jing's voice enveloped her from behind, "You whole family are bullying her. Was I not clear enough before, or have you all stopped respecting me after being away from the capital for three years?"

The bowstring was pulled back again, the sharp, grating sound like a knife scraping through bone, sending chills down one's spine.

The Minister Gao and his wife, along with Madam Lin and Jiang Yanwan, chased after them and saw that the prince's arrow was aimed at Jiang Mingyun's throat.

At such close range, with an arrow fully drawn, one would surely shatter the throat bone.

Even Jiang Zhenlin swallowed hard. "Your Highness, please calm down."

He kicked Jiang Mingting, who nearly lost his mind upon seeing the bow and arrow. He knelt down with a thud, pleading, "Your Highness, have mercy! Mingyun's crime does not warrant death. Mingyun knows he was wrong."

"She will never dare to do it again."

Jiang Mingting then hugged his sister's shoulders, his eyes unable to bear looking at her bloodied and mangled right leg. "Quickly beg the Prince for mercy."

Jiang Mingyun was in so much pain that she was covered in sweat. The viciousness and malice in her eyes had long since disappeared. When she saw the arrow pointing at her, she couldn't even swallow.

Trembling, she pleaded, "Don't kill me, please don't!"

"I won't do it again, I was wrong, I was really wrong."

Zhao Yan raised the corners of her eyes and smiled mockingly, "Did you buy the Heart-Eating Grass?"

"Yes." Jiang Mingyun's eyes were glazed over.

"Was it you who sent the butcher to ruin Qingwan's reputation?"

"yes."

"You tried to kill Qingwan twice, didn't you?"

Jiang Mingyun's eyelashes trembled violently, and she nodded with pursed lips, "Yes."

Zhao Yan turned to Lin Qingwan and smiled, "Look, this is the simplest way. Why waste time?"

"You should have come to see me sooner."

Lin Qingwan felt that his smile was like a flower blooming in the dead of winter; the more vibrant it was, the colder it seemed.

Zhao Yan then asked Jiang Mingyun, "There's one more question you haven't answered. Qingwan asked, 'Who told you about this?'"
