A private room in a restaurant.
Feng'er ordered seven or eight dishes, waiting for Lin Qingwan to come over and eat together.
As a result, Tong Di came in and reported to Zhao Cong, "Miss Qingwan was invited by the Prince to the flower garden outside the city early this morning."
Zhao Cong already knew, but he didn't say anything for fear of upsetting Feng'er. Not wanting to keep him waiting, he deliberately sent Tong Di on another trip.
"I see." Zhao Cong glanced at Feng'er. "Then we'll wait for her to come back after she's finished admiring the flowers."
Feng'er has always been a restless person, and I thought he would just grumble a couple of times and then give up, but to my surprise, he nodded obediently, "Okay. Then don't let them serve the food, it will get cold soon."
Zhao Cong was somewhat surprised, "Shall we go for a stroll in the streets?"
Feng'er's attitude was firm: "No need. I'll wait for her here."
For some reason, a thought popped into Zhao Cong's mind: "A son grows up and cannot be kept at home."
He let out a soft chuckle and instructed Cangying to bring some snacks to Feng'er to satisfy her hunger.
Cang Ying was quick on her feet, and Feng'er couldn't resist the temptation of the pastries she liked, saying, "I'll just have one piece."
A child is just a child.
Cang Ying whispered in Zhao Cong's ear, "Your Highness, Jiang Mingting is with a few people in the southwest private room, or rather, about that piece of land outside. It seems that the Prince has issued an ultimatum, and Young Master Gao has instructed them to make sure that farmer is dealt with within the next two days."
At that moment, a familiar voice rang out from downstairs again.
Cang Ying was also surprised, "Young Master Jiang?"
Zhao Cong chuckled, "This is interesting."
Gao Peng put his arm around Jiang Zhenlin's shoulder, and the two went up the stairs to the second private room in the southwest corner, where they bumped into Jiang Mingting at the door.
Jiang Mingting was still upset about his grandmother and mother's humiliation at the Prime Minister's residence, so it would be strange if he didn't lash out when he saw Jiang Zhenlin.
"Oh, isn't this my dear cousin, the eldest son of the Prime Minister's mansion? What's wrong? Why are you out drinking today? You seem to be in a bad mood?" Jiang Mingting's words were full of sarcasm.
"Oh, I remember now. My cousin is going to Jingbei Army tomorrow to cook for everyone, hahaha."
"You've lived a life of luxury for over a decade, do you even recognize salt and sugar?"
Jiang Zhenlin's eye twitched. "It's not your place to gloat. It's your sister who's become a nun, and instead of staying home with Grandmother and Second Aunt during the holiday, you're out drinking. That's what's really unpleasant."
Jiang Mingting gritted his teeth in hatred, "Lin Qingwan will get her comeuppance!"
Jiang Zhenlin said disdainfully, "Watch your mouth. She's the apple of Prince Jing's eye now. She was even invited to admire the flowers at the suburban flower garden today."
As soon as he finished speaking, Gao Peng's expression changed drastically.
Jiang Zhenlin was completely unaware that "even if she doesn't hold it against you, Prince Jing will not tolerate anyone speaking ill of her."
"Think about how your sister's leg became useless."
Jiang Mingting trembled, filled with fear and resentment. They dared not hate Prince Jing, so they could only cling to Lin Qingwan. Young Master Gao had said that women were nothing; as long as the prince handled the land matters well, it wasn't impossible for him to hand Lin Qingwan over to him once he was pleased or tired of her.
Thinking of this, Jiang Mingting gritted his teeth and suppressed his anger, "Hmph, we'll see."
Jiang Zhenlin tried to chase after him, but Gao Peng held him back, so he could only kick Jiang Mingting's back and miss.
Once inside the private room, he complained, "Why did you pull me like that? That kid deserved a beating."
Gao Peng composed himself. "You just said that Miss Qingwan was invited to the flower garden?"
Jiang Zhenlin then remembered that Gao Peng coveted Lin Qingwan, no wonder his expression suddenly turned so bad. "I told you to give up on that idea."
“The prince never invited my sister to the flower garden, but he took Lin Qingwan there. This is a slap in my sister’s face.”
In the past, he would have cursed through gritted teeth for a long time, but today he was all smiles and self-deprecating humor.
Seeing Gao Peng still standing there in a daze, he poured a full glass of wine and said, "Have a good drink with me, who knows when we'll be able to drink together again."
Gao Peng couldn't lift his hand to pick up the wine glass, his face pale. "Ah Lin, the thing I didn't finish telling you last time was about the Prince's flower garden."
"What happened to the flower nursery? Have you been there?"
Gao Peng's facial muscles gradually contracted. "A errand boy from Yan Gui Lou went there. Before he even went in, he heard a woman's earth-shattering scream, not the kind you hear in bed, but the kind where flesh and bones are being torn apart."
"And the prince's laughter..."
"It is said that there was a deaf and mute girl who brought out bowl after bowl of blood water from the house to water the flowers."
Gao Peng stared blankly at Jiang Zhenlin, his teeth seemingly chattering.
Jiang Zhenlin couldn't drink the wine that was about to reach his lips. He frowned and said, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Gao Peng said firmly, “I’m not talking nonsense. Have you heard that the prince is acquiring land to expand the flower garden? Nearby farmers once dug up a female corpse from the soil next to the flower garden, and it hadn’t decomposed yet.”
"They said there wasn't a single drop of blood left in the bones and flesh."
Jiang Zhenlin shuddered. "Damn it! Can you please stop saying such scary things?"
Gao Peng swallowed hard, gripping his sleeve tightly. "Ah Lin, you've forgotten. Everyone who was taken to the flower garden by the Prince has never returned, and then... they just vanished without a trace."
Jiang Zhenlin, having followed Prince Jing before, naturally knew about the flower garden, but he had never been there. Besides, those who were taken there were all without family background or status, so who cared?
Jiang Zhenlin frowned more and more deeply. "That's someone else. Lin Qingwan is the daughter of the Prime Minister's family. The Prince likes her and is taking her to admire the flowers. Don't be so jealous and curse her."
Gao Peng became more and more clear-headed and frightened as he thought about it. "The Prince used to favor your elder sister, but he never invited her to enjoy the flowers. That's because your elder sister was valued by you. Miss Qingwan is different. She... she... that butcher even came looking for her, and the Prince didn't mind at all. Don't you find that strange?"
Jiang Zhenlin felt uneasy at his words, "What's so strange about it? The prince likes her, so what?"
