Mu Xue steamed some cured pork buns and made a pot of white porridge.
Physician Zhu was dissatisfied. "She has bled to death. How can she replenish herself by eating plain porridge? We should serve her plenty of meat and fish."
Mu Xue was, after all, a maid in the Prime Minister's mansion, and had never heard of such a brutal diet for nourishing the body.
"Doctor Zhu, there are no chicken legs in the courtyard. How about I give you an extra basket of steamed buns? Miss has just woken up and is very weak. She can't eat greasy food."
Mu Xue felt that the imperial physician was unreliable, but rationally she had to admit that it was indeed his strange and unusual things that saved her young lady's life.
Therefore, when looking at Physician Zhu, his conflict and struggle were written all over his face.
Physician Zhu raised an eyebrow. "Oily foods are indeed hard to digest. Steaming and stewing, along with ingredients like angelica, red dates, and longan, are all good options. She was already thin, and with the excessive blood loss, prolonged anemia can damage her organ function. She also already had..."
Physician Zhu scratched his head and didn't continue.
"What is anemia?" Mu Xue asked sincerely.
Physician Zhu took two steamed buns and then slipped one of them, Tong Di, into his hand.
Tong Di looked at him with a determined expression, "I'll go buy chicken, duck, fish and meat. Tell me what other supplements I need."
Suddenly, Physician Zhu found the steamed bun in his mouth no longer tasted good.
Seeing how nervous Guard Tong was, Mu Xue stopped asking questions and handed the tray to Physician Zhu, saying, "Please take this to Miss so she can have something to eat. I'll make some jujube soup later!"
Physician Zhu was on the verge of tears. He really didn't want to go in and see Ruan Tinghuai's face again, which looked like "the whole world is dead" and "only Lin Qingwan is left in the whole world"!
He had barely stepped across the threshold when he was forced to hear Ruan Tinghuai's sour and soft voice.
"Qingwan, I owe you so much."
Lin Qingwan's face was completely bloodless, and her usually clear and bright eyes were much dimmer. "The teacher taught me to read and write, and taught me to see the distance. For me, it was like being reborn."
"Even if there is a third or fourth time, I would still be willing to save Mr. without hesitation."
Ruan Tinghuai sobbed uncontrollably, "No! There won't be any more!"
"If I hadn't let you go back then, you wouldn't have had to suffer so much."
"I heard you went back to the Prime Minister's residence to acknowledge your relatives, I thought you..."
He choked up and couldn't speak, filled with unbearable regret.
Lin Qingwan blinked. "It's wonderful to be reunited with you, sir. Let's not talk about those unhappy things."
"Okay." Ruan Tinghuai sniffed. "Let's not talk about that anymore."
Fearing that he would not only talk about the past but also look to the future, Doctor Zhu quickly coughed twice to interrupt him.
“Miss Qingwan, it was Guard Tong who rescued you, the Crown Prince who cleaned up the mess, and I who raced against the King of Hell. Your husband only cried by your bedside for two days. Although he was also quite crucial, we can’t just talk to him when it comes to rewarding merit.”
“Our bodyguard Tong was covered in injuries and had been guarding you outside for two days.”
Ruan Tinghuai's face felt a little hot. Seeing that Physician Zhu had put down the tray, he was about to feed Lin Qingwan some porridge.
Physician Zhu quickly stopped him, saying, "Let her get up and move around; she'll recover faster that way."
Ruan Tinghuai turned to help Lin Qingwan up, but Physician Zhu's lips twitched and he pushed her away, saying, "She's a young lady, how can you get so close to her!"
Ruan Tinghuai lowered his head, somewhat embarrassed, "I...I was just worried about Qingwan."
Physician Zhu said calmly, "Who here isn't worried?"
Ruan Tinghuai gave an awkward smile, his gaze lingering on Lin Qingwan.
"Sir, there's no need to be nervous. I'm fine."
Lin Qingwan slowly sat up, propping herself up on the bed. She felt dizzy and closed her eyes, her breathing becoming short.
Ruan Tinghuai was shocked and exclaimed, "Qingwan!"
Physician Zhu said, "That's normal. She's lost all her blood, and it would take six months to a year to replenish it. Of course, she'll feel dizzy if she moves around a lot. Eating more food is better than taking medicine."
"Hmm." Lin Qingwan gritted her teeth and picked up the bowl of white porridge. At first, she found it difficult, but after drinking a few spoonfuls, she felt much better.
Physician Zhu reminded, "Don't drink too much. The main meal is yet to come."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Tong Di returned, her hands laden with ingredients, having to squeeze through the gate to enter the courtyard.
"Doctor Zhu, Mu Xue asked you to ask Miss Qing Wan whether she would like to eat fish or chicken first?"
Before Physician Zhu could speak, he saw Ruan Tinghuai and Lin Qingwan exchange a glance. "Qingwan, I'll go make you some fish soup noodles."
Lin Qingwan's eyes lit up, and she regained her appetite. "Thank you for your hard work, sir."
Ruan Tinghuai looked satisfied. "It's nothing, it's nothing."
He naturally took the item from Tong Di's hand and smiled gently, "Guard Tong is still injured, so I'll do this kind of thing from now on."
"I'm fine." Tong Di glanced into the room. "Aren't you going to keep Miss Qingwan company?"
Ruan Tinghuai said, "Let her rest, I'll make her her favorite food."
“She used to love my cooking the most. Whenever she was hungry at home, she would come to my place, and I would always save some for her.”
Ruan Tinghuai excitedly carried the things to the kitchen. Doctor Zhu came over at some point and put his arm around Tong Di's shoulder. "Guard Tong, I think you should go back to the East Palace to take up your post today."
"I'm afraid that if you can't win over him here, you'll also lose your secure job there."
Tong Di asked, puzzled, "Why are you chasing them over here?"
Physician Zhu was exasperated, "I'll pursue you for the rest of your life!"
Tong Di's ears turned red instantly. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Physician Zhu looked not much older than Tong Di, but he had a seasoned and relaxed air about him, as if he had seen through all the ways of the world. "If you're just talking nonsense, why are you blushing, you rough man?"
Tong Di couldn't argue with him, so she said, "I'll go back and change my dressing."
Physician Zhu, having nothing else to do, followed him over. "What do you mean by 'change'? You should go in and let her take a look. You're the one who's risking your life to do this!"
