A small courtyard in the west of the city.
The seemingly dilapidated courtyard concealed a hidden world within. The people responsible for washing and drying the herbs weren't the same group; a woman knowledgeable in pharmacology taught them the process. Their daily wages were settled by the hour, and they were told only that they were doing odd jobs for the pharmacy.
After the herbs are sorted, they are allocated according to the prescription by designated personnel, and then either made into spices or ground into powder according to needs. The production line is very mature.
Inside the house.
The physician's son poured the visitor a cup of hot tea, grinning foolishly, "My father didn't say he was picking up goods today, why did he suddenly come?"
The person smiled and handed him a few candies.
The fool's mouth was practically stretched to his ears as he hurriedly tore open the wrapper and stuffed it into his mouth, looking completely satisfied. "You always bring me candy, why did you bring five this time?"
"Eat it, you won't be able to eat it again."
The newcomer placed his hands under the table, a ruthless glint in his eyes, and said, "Blame your father for his incompetence."
The words had barely left his lips when a cold light flashed.
The fool's eyes stung from the glare, and he raised his hand to shield them. A sharp blade was pressed against his throat; his breath caught in his throat as he choked on the candy. He coughed, shifting his body a few inches to avoid the dagger.
"How is my father? I want to see my father!" The fool's voice was rough and had a certain air of authority. He picked up a stool and smashed it at the man.
The other party knew martial arts and easily dodged the attack, his eyes flashing with murderous intent. "I'm just sending you to see your father!"
The fool was stunned. "My father..."
The dagger came at him again, but the fool, his eyes red, didn't dodge.
With a "clang," the dagger was deflected by a sword; Tong Di's moves were so fast that no one could see his face clearly.
His opponent was no match for him and found it difficult to defend himself.
At this moment, another commotion came from the courtyard. The man was clearly more flustered after hearing it. But if he got away, Tong Di would never be able to hold his head high in front of others again.
Just as Jiang Zhenlin was about to enter, Tong Di pressed down on his back with a sword move, as if a boulder was on his body, making him unable to straighten his back.
Tong Di still had time to say to the dumbfounded fool behind her, "He came to kill you to silence you and avenge your father. When the young master of the Jiang family comes in later, tell him as much as you know. You might even be able to collect your father's body."
Upon hearing this, the fool burst into tears.
Jiang Zhenlin kicked the door open, and upon seeing the scene inside, he exclaimed in surprise, "Tong... Guard? What are you doing here?"
Tong Di remained calm and composed. "The Imperial Pharmacy discovered that someone was smuggling poisonous herbs back to the capital. I was ordered by the Crown Prince to investigate secretly. What brings Young Master Jiang here?"
"Could this secret workshop be...?"
Jiang Zhenlin wasn't stupid either, and immediately said, "Someone in the Prime Minister's residence poisoned Lin Qingwan, and that's how I got here."
That would seem to suggest that it has nothing to do with the Prime Minister's residence.
But when he saw the person subdued by Tong Di, his pupils contracted. He had seen this person in his sister's courtyard!
The fool rushed over to Jiang Zhenlin as soon as he saw him, tears and snot streaming down his face, "Young Master, where is my father?"
Jiang Zhenlin kicked the man away, suppressing his anger, "Someone, take him away..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a sudden burst of bright red blood. The idiot coughed up blood and collapsed straight down.
Tong Di was also shocked. Seeing the candy wrapper on the table, she exclaimed, "The candy is poisoned!"
The fool's gaze was unfocused, staring desperately at the ceiling. "I...I thought if I ate...if I ate, they...wouldn't...wouldn't..."
"I'm sorry, Father."
Jiang Zhenlin seemed unable to accept the fact that the idiot was dead. He stepped forward and roared at the corpse, "You better explain yourself!"
"Get up!"
He went berserk again, kicking and punching, even picking up a dagger from the ground and glaring angrily at the person being pinned down by Tong Di. The other person was also very guilty when he saw him, lowering his head and not daring to speak, not knowing how to speak.
Jiang Zhenlin roared, "Who told you to kill him! Who gave you the guts!"
Tong Di had witnessed his madness before, so she didn't think much of it at the moment. But when Jiang Zhenlin suddenly pierced the man's heart, it was too late for Tong Di to react.
“Young Master Jiang, you…” Tong Di frowned.
He cannot use the phrase "murder to silence" without evidence.
Jiang Zhenlin ignored him and instead ordered his men, "Take away those people outside..."
Tong Di immediately produced the Crown Prince's token, "The Imperial Guards are ordered to investigate the case; no one outside is allowed to be harmed!"
"Young Master Jiang, are you so crazy that you're disregarding even the Crown Prince's orders? Or does the Jiang family have enough confidence to stand against the Crown Prince?"
Jiang Zhenlin clenched his fists, his eyes filled with a violent crimson. After a few seconds of stalemate, he dropped the dagger in his hand. "I admit my mistake. I accidentally killed someone. Take me to the Dali Temple."
The Prime Minister's Residence.
When Madam Lin learned that her son had gotten into trouble again, and that the Prime Minister had gone to the Eastern Palace to meet with the Crown Prince and had not returned for a long time, she was very uneasy.
Jiang Su did not return to the Prime Minister's residence until late at night.
Lin's eyes were bloodshot from staying up all night. When she saw her husband's displeased expression, she was on edge. "Qin Ma, quickly bring the Prime Minister some ginseng soup."
Madam Lin personally helped her husband take off his cloak and handed him a hot towel, saying, "Husband, wipe your face."
Then, watching Jiang Su take a sip of ginseng soup, she finally couldn't help but ask, "Prime Minister, Ah Lin, he..."
"In a few days, let him go to the Jingbei Army to work as a cook and gain some experience."
Lin's expression changed drastically. A cook? Wouldn't that make her a laughingstock? But she knew the situation was serious, and she could only cry helplessly.
Jiang Su was in no mood to comfort her. "Have Yan Wan come to see me."
Lin asked, "What does this have to do with Yan Wan?"
Seeing the worry on his wife's face, Jiang Su hesitated to speak, "I just wanted to tell her a few things, it's nothing serious."
After a cup of tea.
Jiang Yanwan, dressed in plain clothes, knelt before Jiang Su and was not allowed to get up for a long time.
She was filled with mixed emotions. She was happy that the person was dead and there was no way to verify the story, but she was worried that she might not be able to hide it from her father.
