Chapter 111 The Back Hill Was Barely Bare

"I'm here to find Lang Kui. Where is Lang Kui? Tell him to come out quickly, I have something important to do!" Lang Man said, and started to walk into the cave, completely ignoring Lang Yun's expression.

Wolf Cloud stopped her, "Mother, what's the big deal? Just tell me, Wolf Kui has gone hunting."

That old hag, every time she comes to see Lang Kui, she makes up a bunch of excuses to steal some food or animal hides.

She now treats Wolfman like a thief.

After Wolf Kui was injured, hunting was not as good as before. Sometimes it would take several days to catch a single prey, which was enough to feed both her and Wolf Kui, two orcs.

That old hag has no use for her own partner; all she does is come and take from them.

Wolfman then remembered that it was daytime and Wolf Kui was not in the cave, and nodded, saying:

"When Lang Kui comes back, tell him not to go out. He should go hunting in the back mountain tomorrow. There are good things there."

Wolf Cloud's face darkened upon hearing this, and he wished he could drive Wolf Man away immediately.

What nonsense is that old hag spouting? She's deliberately trying to harm me and Lang Kui!

"What good things could there be in the back mountain? Everyone in the tribe knows there's nothing there, just sour fruit. Mother, Lang Kui is your own cub. Are you so jealous of him that you want to harm him?"

Wolf Cloud, his face dark, was about to order them to leave.

Wolfman quickly explained, "Wolf Kui is my cub, how could I possibly harm him? It's true, I just saw Wolf Nini and Atang come down from the back mountain with my own eyes, carrying a bag full of prey!"

Upon hearing this, Lang Yun was taken aback.

"A-Tang? Is that A-Tang who lived outside the tribe, the one Lang Kui used to like?"

Lately, we can smell a delicious aroma coming from outside the tribe every day. The whole Gray Wolf tribe knows that A-Tang's family is cooking meat every day and even has fire!

Wolf Cloud was very jealous. Every day when he saw that Wolf Kui had not caught any prey, he would argue with him and question him about whether he regretted mating with him and that was why he did not want to hunt or dig caves properly.

She felt that Lang Kui still had feelings for A Tang!

He's so depressed because he's not with Atang.

"Yes, that's her. I saw her come to the tribe a few days ago. She went to the back mountain and cooked meat when she got back. She must have found something good in the back mountain!"

Wolfman was confident.

That must be it!

Otherwise, how could that useless family eat meat every day?

It still smells so good!

"That slut Lang Nini actually led outsiders to the back mountain! I'm going to tell the chief so he can punish this traitorous female!" Lang Man angrily went to inform on her.

Lang Yun quickly grabbed her, "Mother, you can't go!"

"Why can't we go?" Lang Man asked, puzzled. Did they want to let Lang Nini and A Tang continue to wreak havoc on the back mountain?

Wolf Cloud lowered his voice, his eyes gleaming with shrewdness, "Mother, if we tell the chief that there are good things in the back mountain, won't all the beastmen in the village know about it?"

"Let's go to the back mountain first and get more good stuff, then no one will compete with us for it, it'll all be ours!"

Wolfman thought that made sense.

Even if there are good things, after they are distributed among all the orcs in the tribe, there won't be much left.

She hasn't gotten much meat from Lang Kui lately, and her partner is useless. She's hungry all the time and eats nothing rich or oily.

If only we could eat meat and drink a big bowl of animal blood...

Wolfman couldn't help but drool at the thought, and nodded, "Okay! You're so smart, your brain is really sharp. Remember to tell Wolf Kui."

Lang Yun agreed, "I'll go to the back mountain with Lang Kui first thing tomorrow morning. If we find anything good, I'll give it to Mother first!"

Anyone can say nice things.

She'll just say she didn't find it and that she ate it all. What can that old hag do to cut open her stomach to see?

After they finished discussing it, Wolfman happily went back.

That evening, when Lang Kui returned from hunting, Lang Yun told him about what had happened.

Lang Kui listened without saying a word, then used his bone knife to cut the neck of the pheasant he had caught that day, letting the blood gush out.

The pheasant wasn't quite dead yet; it struggled desperately as it bled, splattering blood onto Lang Kui's face, eyes, and mouth.

Wolf Cloud got angry when he saw him mute, and started crying and cursing, "Are you still thinking about Atang? You're my mate now, and you won't even go hunting in the back mountains when I ask you to. Are you even a male?!"

Lang Kui frowned, finding her incredibly noisy.

"Okay, fine."

Only by going along with her could he find some peace and quiet.

Wolf Cloud immediately put on a smiling face again, "Then let's go to the back mountain together tomorrow and catch more prey. Maybe we'll have cubs soon. You have to work hard for the cubs too."

She touched her belly, her face full of longing.

Only after giving birth to offspring will she be eligible to choose a stronger male as her next mate.

Lang Kui paused, his gaze lingering on Lang Yun's stomach for a few seconds.

When Lang Yun saw that he was looking at him, he thought that his words had worked and was secretly delighted. No male would not want his partner to bear cubs for him.

As long as there are cubs, Lang Kui will definitely hunt hard and forget about A Tang.

The next day, Lang Kui and Lang Yun went to the back mountain together.

As a result, the two wandered around the back mountain all day, from sunrise to sunset, but they didn't find a single prey, let alone a single hair.

The two were exhausted after climbing the mountain.

Wolf Cloud refused to believe it and went again on the third and fourth days!

The result was always the same: the only prey was a tiny sparrow the size of a palm, and the effort wasted plucking its feathers wasn't enough to make up for it.

Wolf Cloud plucked fur from his body inside the cave, muttering to himself, "How could there be nothing there..."

Wolf Kui said with a dark face, "There's nothing on the back mountain. If this continues, we won't even be able to fill our stomachs. I'm going hunting in the forest tomorrow."
